  1. 1. Check all hardware, could just be a faulty lambda probe or something. 2. LTFT's go out of sync due to the bank specific readings of the ecu and the adaption and learning routines the ecu has for injection - very common problem when going NA to FI on these as you change the boss placements/manifolds when adding a turbo. One way of getting around it is hack the data so that the ecu is actually reading from one bank, a number of people have done this and it works fine it seems. Otherwise, you need a proper exhaust manifold with the bosses in place that you can take the readings from - lik
  2. They can be messy things, ceramic coating seems to be the preferred choice - like you said though, physics ad chemistry will teach you that everything is made up of elements - the nickle's added as the anti corrosion agent but oxidisation and so on will change that!
  3. Lower compression generally gives better scope for knock suppression all things being considered equal; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compression_ratio Both can handle 18psi and I have seen 700hp 28psi cars running 9.0:1 pistons - as a guide, 9.0:1 with 16-18psi max - as well as good tuning throughout - seems to be a good set up that a number of owners have chosen and is what I would use as a guide with cautions as mentioned for max boost.
  4. The volume of air can change with things like the size of the turbo don't forget! However, 18-20psi seems to be the limit people push to before forged internals on something like a GT35R with ARP/spacer , can push higher but lot's to do right for that. Also - what compression ratio for the spacer, they range from 7:1 to 10:1? That determines a lot - 9.0:1 compression ratio or 8.5 for above, both can do 18+
  5. Tuning, and by that I mean proper tuning, is nothing like "what hp can x do", the reason is science. What can damage such parts is shearing and twisting forces; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shear_strength https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torsion_(mechanics) Question is - what causes such excess stresses? If you're gong from an NA VR6 to an FI VRT, how do you know if your map is still running the oem knock regulation checks without looking at the data? A bad map can cause detonation and such blasts cause excess stress which cause high shearing and twisting forces - ergo damage! Wha
  6. The parts themselves are far more cheaper than you realise, it's the mould initial costs that are the big expense.... also casting techniques differences that can cost more, material and so on, but the IP/design/mould costs make multiple production cheaper afterwards. Main point is getting a list of needed parts, get pics for the supplier if needed - something small with medium machining like that is about $80 to the port for shipping, few more bucks delivery costs and duty/tax in the Queen's currency or State equivalent will up it a touch but that's the cost differences and as a basic gu
  7. The company in question also did a good blog entry about the varying qualities of casts in China and which area's have good reputations and this was back in 2010 so they seem good. With the machining and packaging to port the unit price is more than the cheap cast main's too, so they are top end ductile iron castings but they will be more expensive due to that. Anyway it's not only manifolds but anything cast and I've done the leg work on quality standards etc if anyone has thoughts on parts?
  8. P.S. The quality of "cast iron manifolds" can vary, cheap tat is not properly cast ductile iron, certain manufacturing processes, material spec all make HUGE differences!
  9. Waste of money half the time those manifolds...bad porosity, inferior iron etc As an example let's take an R32 exhaust manifold for turbo; good quality cheap mani's are things like SPA Turbo ones that I resell. EN-GJS-400-15 or often touted as GGG40 cast ductile iron. When it comes to FI tuning there are these cheap but well made mani's available but they are missing the dual bank lambda readings, you can find these on, for example HPA/HGP mani's but a thousand bucks plus import duty etc - £1k for one of them.... it's a fair whack, plus SS material spec adds costs! Aside from that you'
  10. I've been doing a bit of research these last few weeks and stumbled across what looks to be a decent casting company in China. They do cast iron, steel and aluminium and seem to do a lot of commercial work, 50 years in the business, thousands of tons per year, International QC standards etc The mold costs are the expensive aspects but about a third of the price here in the UK from what I've been quoted in the past but you're looking at about a grand for a small item to about £3k exhaust manifold size up to £5-10k for really complex top quality stuff. Get yer thoughts and idea's down
  11. Had a quick look at the Clubgti member count on facebook, it was half the OC Hehe

    1. VR6Pete

      VR6Pete

We have a good coverage! 21.8k on Facebook page, 4.5k on the Facebook group and over 11k on here.

Must still we cannot fill a club stand at shows Lol

Makes you wonder where all these people are hiding :)

  12. Have a word with ATP as your over there, they'll sort you out if you ask them to double check http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=ATP-VVW-177&Category_Code=AUDIVW-DP
  13. Yes - get the fittings too for it at same time
  14. GT35R T3 0.82A/R - V band best and easier to remove your downpipe or the simple 4 bolt pattern is a bit cheaper - 3" discharge external gate
  15. Aye - nifty little things cropping up here and there like the new "hot!" thread symbol - kudos site runners!
  16. I'm honoured but unfortunately, I have to decline! Truth be told I wasn't after the job in the first place which is why I was messing about in my posts! I was merely trying to bring some light to the thread and some of the zany, friendly laughs we all like to see and a good mod would have to be prepared to handle! Truth is my fibromyalgia is that bad at the moment that it hurts to type this as much as when I fractured 2 bones, hence the drunken silly posts when I'm not on my painkillers...... and that's a good day! We all know what a good mix social websites and alcohol are,
  17. Names like Jezebel Tallulah probably didn't help mind you! Plenty of knowledgeable people on here for Leo though if need be!
  18. Welcome mate! Nice stealth bomber look goin on there!
  19. Welcome to the OC! Like how you said "him" when talking about your car, makes me think that the girls that gave me funny looks in the past for calling them "her" were in the wrong!
  20. I like the whole concept of MSnS, read a lot over the years about it and fancied doing an FI project before I started learning the Motronic stuff.. You want to start the thread in the Engine tuning area though.
  21. If anyone's interested...... not sure if it is the cause of some V6/R32T tunes messing up from well known co's in the early days or not, but it's long term adaption problems based on bank specific readings the ecu does over time that used to cock them up, going from dual o2 to single with the mono lambda manifolds/downpipe additions you change under FI! Still, if your tuner doesn't know this and you're paying £1k+ for a mani, it's worth noting! Some more info; http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=2112.msg26863#msg26863
  22. P.S. If anyone is new to the site or is unsure about what kind of mad house they've come to....... I've never actually been arrested in my life, was mere jest..... my evil twin brother always got the blame! Again, only joking! Actually had a pleasant evening watching the Mancs kick bottom at the footy whilst the ex mayor of the town forgot to get my beer! That's actually being serious! I never joke about beer! Should probably clear that up "moderator style" just in case!
  23. Never mind - found em and told em!
  24. Lol, can't beat publicly pimpin yourself out whilst drunk! Above is why I tended to stay away from forums!
  25. He's in the US, no import duty or VAT! Lucky sod, ATP/Full Race etc is what he wants!
