  1. Good old defender of the Country here and have been for 21 yrs, 20 months to push and my time is done. Joined as a mechanic, worked on everything and anything from small generators to Challenger 2 tanks. Now have a nice desk, a PC and a telephone - Miss my toolbox tho!!
  2. Driving your car without having the camber reset after fitting coilovers is pure madness. Get it done ASAP your camber will be out deffo, plus I would put money on wheel alignment as well. Make sure you pay attention to getting the ride height the same on both sides or as close as humanly possibe. Google camber angle and you will be surprised to see what your driving aganst when its not set up correctly.
  3. Can anyone help a friend of a friend? Reposted from dubscene Portsmouth. 'Hi all, have been asked a favour by a friend with a VR6 as he knows I'm part of a VW club and know a lot of enthusiasts. He has a VR6 but it needs a new head gasket and he is trying to find someone reliable and not too expensive to get it fixed. Does anyone have any idea what this should cost (roughly).' Portsmouth or surrounding area.
  4. If it flashes ALL of the digits on start up for around 6 seconds it means there is a fault. Usually means needs re-gassing.
  5. You will save a MAX of 10% with a Cat 1 alarm. My insurance is £550 a year and a cat 1 alarm is aorund £300....not worth me forking out for one would take 6 years to reap any benefit. As for the factory one passing any insurance requirements it all depends on if the alarm still holds its Thatcham status. Some older Alarms no longer do.
  6. I have never heard anything so ridiculous!! Does any insurance company ask what tyres are on the car in the first place? You want customers to inform you they have changed to tyres which will make the car safer to drive?

  8. Update... Finally my current insurer has come up with a renewal quote £540 which is funnily enough the same as the amount I got from the compare website for the same company. However and this is strange - instead of just carrying on with the monthly amounts they want £113 up front deposit followed by monthly payments. If I go on compare the deposit is almost half the £113 they want. Very strange, but also good news that the amount has not dramtically increased for another year as most people seem to have gone up in price. I only have 1 years NCD as I hit the back of someone last year (Even
  9. The mathematical answer…. If we start with a full tank of 55 litres of C8H18 and the idle speed is 800 RPM …… Take the 55 litres of C8H18 and divide it by the WGAF (Who Gives A F*ck) factor you where drunk when you thought of this question and I am not drunk enough to attempt to answer it as my head hurts. Then take said 55 litres of C8H18l add one very sober driver with a heavy right foot. This will result in 55 litres becoming (C6H6)+(Cd)+ (CO2)+ (C O)+ (NOx)+ (SO2) in a lot less than the estimated 40-45 hours at idle speed. The result will be one human being topped up with C9H13NO3.
  10. Don;t do it......they will look stupid and handle like 2CV on a bad day. I have 17's on mine and that's the limit I would honestly say.

  14. What bulbs are you using? My angel eyes dont use the normal bulb for illumination the bulb only lights main and high beam the rings are separate and light by themselves.
  15. If your changing from standard headlights to angel eyes you will notice the difference anyway. Try the standard bulbs and see how you go.
  16. Ok, to some extent I understand what you're saying, and I can agree with the point about Performance VW and the cars + owners they feature. Yes it can be frustrating to see these cars with £1000's being rammed in your face when you can't afford to achieve the same results. Maybe they should look at featuring some of these SELF BUILD cars, then maybe we could all aspire to getting the skills and time to do the same. Whether someone has spent 10k or 1k on the car someone builds it unless its straight out the showroom, IMO the owners of cars that have had ££££'s spent on them yet they have n
