  1. My MPG has decreased from around 33 on the motorway to 26 but I think its over fueling and I dont know why. There was a black D shaped plug disconnected (to the left of the 6 branch) when I bought it (but I only noticed it the other day when cleaning the bay) and i've reconnected it and thats when the MPG seemed to go down. Any ideas on what the plug is and what is does?
  2. My mate Kam had 10s on the back of his vento. Only the rim of the wheel poked due to the stretch, the tyre tread was nicely tucked. Perfect ET management.
  3. I had people at work ask me who done the engine conversion when I first got it haha
  4. The exhaust on the mk3 atm sounds awesome but its too loud and has an awful drone at 30mph (in 5th) and 60mph. Its got a 6 branch, decat through to a single scorpion backbox. im sure for some people it would be fine, but doing quite a few miles, it can get irritating. To say its loud is an understatment, even on tick over Its loud, but the noise it makes is unreal and gets very addictive. Ive been to one company (AAS in newcastle) and they can do me a cat back system with a silencer and a back box for £400 which will loose the drone and make it quieter. I messaged a few companies on edition
  5. Anyone going tomorrow? (R.W.Y.B.) Im going down with a fe mates in their cars (S3's, mk4 GTIs, Leon Cupras etc....) and it will be our first time doing the quarter mile.
  6. Thanks. Yeah the polo is alot better on fuel haha (polo is for sale) The VR isnt too bad on fuel, gets about 33ish mpg on the motorway (but have seen 38mpg) and mid 20s around town, but most of my miles are on on the motorway. I was going to put the twists on the golf, but im not how they'd suit (beige and silver wouldnt go, so they would need painting).
  7. A few quick pics taken after I gave the cars a quick wash. It really need a good going over with the clay bar, but it cleans up well. I wasnt too keen on silver cars, becasue I like to see good reflection shots so always perferred the look of a darker colour car, but its really growing on me + I havent seen many silver mk3s around. Plans are to start on the arches soon as, to get them rolled and the rust sorting but still keeping the original lines. The front part of the sills need a little bit or work, but on a whole its a clean car. Took it to ACR today and they said it was a really good
  8. That is seriously cheap! Fully comp or TPFT? My insurers must be taking me for a ride. Im paying £1700 on the mk3 VR, but I have just gone 20. Thats with brentacre with everything covered. Brentacre also dont charge for adding mods, unles its a mod that will increase the power and take it over the power band they put you in.
  9. MJ Vv6 thats exactly how I want my engine to look. What did you do when the manifold curves round at the bottom? Is it possible to polish the manifold with it still fitted?
  10. I cant wait for inters, it was one of my fav shows last year. I want the mk3 sorted for then so I can hopefully enter show and shine. But the stand organiser for DNE wants the car on their stand. Last year I took the polo to the show and PVW took pictures of it and it was in the august mag
  11. I got talking to one of the lads who works next door to me (drvies a naught skyline R33). He was saying that his friends car got crushed for having a decat pipe on. I havent really spoken to the lad before and have no idea wht his friend is like, but whats the chances of this? I was thinking about going to powerflow to get another silencer put in. Powerflow any good?
  12. Anyone had any trouble with their exhausts with the Police? The VR ive got is loud especially at 60 on the motorway (awful drone). 50mph or 70 and its quieter. around town at 30 its lud in 5th, drop it down to 4th and its ok, still loud but not deafening. But I would like it quieter. Its got a 6 branch, decat through to a scorpion backbox. It sounds mental on full chat and pops like mad (you would think some1 was firing a machine gun). What can I add? Thanks (got a strong smell of fuel round the back aswel, but its not leaking)
  13. £70 on 80 miles I cant be having that I do about 300miles a week atm! (majority is motorway though)
  14. With the lights, we took the rear lights out and re-fitted them and it sorted itt out, so probs a dodgy connection? I need a new connector for the front indicator, which im getting tomorrow. I can tell already fuel bills are goin to be expensive. I just £35 in this afternoon and we'll see how far it gets me. Clock is reading 17.8mpg atm :S but that is around town, which I can tell already it doesnt like to do. Who is driving a Vr6 daily? and what mpg you getting? If ive got time tomorrow ill get it washed, cleansed and waxed. Clar bay will have to wait till later.
  15. Well I bought my first VR. Sills were fine, he gave me a replacement divers wing cos that was the worst. The other arches have rust but it can be sorted. Its very loud! I want it quieter, both inside and outside the car. But the noise is amazing. Had a steady drive back and the computer read 38mpg, not bad. Having a bit of a problem with the indicators though, but I might be becasue the front passenger side is out. But the left arrow on the dash lights up (doesnt flash) every now and then and when I hit the foot brake? Any ideas?
  16. SO will the sill cover have ot come off? Of just getting uder the car will be enough to check the sills? I cant wait, thanks for the help everyone
  17. The plan is to get it into bodyshop as soon as possible while I still have the polo to drive around in. Get the vento front fitted (which is sat in my mates house) and get the arches rolled and the rust sorted. If I can source them in time I would love a US plate tub and running lights, but I cant seem to find any. But all this depends if my mate has time, cos his unit it quite busy atm. But he does awesome work.
  18. Ive been watching mk3 VR6s for a few months now and its hard finding a manual 3door mk3 VR6 thats has decent miles, not rotten and not dragon green. I been after a late mk3 vr6 with the OBD2 engine. But with the mods it has (koingsport coilies, colour concept leathers, 6 branch decat system, chip etc....) I think its a good price. I want to check around for any other rust that might have not been mentioned, sills, in the boot for water leaking, rattles from the engine, smoke and electrics. By the time we meet up it shouldnt be too dark. So im hoping it wil be ok. The guy sounds genuine and he
  19. I'm going to view and hopefully buy my first mk3 VR6 tomorrow evening (if its as described). Its a 97 3dr with 114k with a few mods and ive got it for just under 2k. It has got a bit of surface rust around the arches, but what mk3 hasnt. Near enough a 4 hour drive down south. The time isnt great (around 8pm, but atleast its not dark at that time), but its the only time i'm free to meet. Meeting at a well lit service station, so it gives me enough light to look around the car, check it out first and then take it for a drive. Its going to be quite a step from a 1.2 polo
  20. How did you wire them to work as indicators aswel? That a good idea. Means I can get the wings smoothed when it goes in. Ive been on ebay and people arent willing to ship to the UK and I dont think the stealers sell US parts. Is it a matter of just hunting the for sale sections for a US bootlid? Just the plate tub would do tbh.
  21. How would the running lights fit and hold in place If I was to buy just the running lights and fit them to the standard bumper? My mate just to tap into the sidelight wiring and wire them up that way.
  22. Will a US spec front bumper fit straight on? Or if I were to fit the side running lights into the standard bumper, how do you fit them and keep in place in the bumper? Wiring should be fairly simple. Thanks
  23. Only a waxed car will bead and remove water like that. I think its worth buying a decent drying towel http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=drying+towel&osCsid=9470a4c1d28bd0be1056365db54b3c72. Tried a quick detailer to try and get rid of them?? Spray it on the car and buff it off with a microfibre cloth.
