  1. Depends on the ET of the wheels. I know a few people who have got away with just rolling the arches when they had 10s on the back. Skinny tyres also help.

  3. (not sure where to post this) Might be pxing my twists (porsche reps) for a set of staggered schmidt moderlines (concave ones not the dished type) with tyres plus £250 cash out of my pocket. whos getting the better deal? Thanks
  4. The 6 branch on mine is heat wrapped, but badly ( was done when I bought it). Do you have to remove the 6 branch to heat wrap it, or can you get away with it still fitted.
  5. are the ford parts exactly the same? The garage fitted a catch tank (bit of a pikey job but still). Is it worth buying a proper catch tank with a breather filter on and blocking up the other block? The catch tank thats on now has a little but of oil in it, not alot but some.
  6. What faults? Got them fitted but the passenger side doesnt seem as bright as the drivers side.
  7. I sourced two bulb holders (from a clio haha) for the running lights. Ive put wires going to the 2 pins (1 for the earth and the other for that comes from the sidelight) Where do I earth them to? I need to strip the sidelight wire (which ive been told is the grey and black wire, or grey and red depending on which side it is) and do I just twists the wire round it and wrap it with electrical tape, or is it best to solder them together first? wiring is not my strong point.
  8. I use 10w40 silver synta. I was talking to a lad at a local meet who has had plenty of VRs, quite alot of the conversions hes done himself and he said the VR will run better on Duckhams oil either the Q or Hypergrade. Anyone use it?
  9. I need a new one aswel. The garage I went to said it was broken but put on a catch tank on atm for a few days to see if theres any oil. But theres a weak smell of petrol since this was done.
  10. 8v or 16v? its a mk4 or a 6n polo.
  11. Going to order my ticket next week and take the mk3 down. It cant be fixed in time but my mate whos going to repair it said it will be fine and to drive it as normal. Need to get wheels bought but theres soo many to choose from.
  12. It doesnt seem to be using alot of oil. There was a very small amount in the catch pipe this morning. Well i think its oil, I havent properly checked. All 6 cyl will be getting checked on wed when it gets new spark plugs and HT leads. Whats normal compression rate?

Im trying to work around the horn so the pipe goes from the front, but ive got the other end of the pipe just behind the headlight so its taking air into the bay and not directly onto the filter just incase. I know a few people running carbonio induction kits and they will be fooked in heavy rain. Just tried to fit the new vents and the horn is in the way and there isnt enough room to bend the bracket. Should be ok to just remove that one right and just have a single horn?
  15. Yeah took it out yesturday. But theres something behind the bottom grill thats stopping the air feed. Does the golf have 2 horns? I think its the horn thats in the way.
  16. Done a quick conpression test on cyl 1 and 2 cyl1 - 130 cyl2 - 170 Getting new spark plugs and HT leads cos the spark plugs were black. The was was over fueling when I bought it cos of the lambda sensor so going to charge the oil aswel. It was only replaced 2k ago but it was still over fueling when it was changed. Put a catch tank on and blocked the breather to see what it does. Its reduced the blue smoke a bit ( I think)

  18. The golf is blowing blue smoke, so not sure if it will make the trip down from the Northeast. I dont like driving it when its like this. But hopefully it can be repaired in time cos I really dont want to miss Inters.
  19. Breather pipe seems fine. Could it be piston rings?
  20. Ive been told to check the breather pipe to see if its blocked or collapsed. The garage said its a sounds odd that it only just started smoking yesturday cos if it was stem seals it would have happened gradually. Can anyone direct me to the breather pipe? If if nots that what would you get replaced if the head was off. Or possibly the engine and box out to do the chains? Thanks
  21. The garage that will be doing the work (ACR) suggested getting the chain done while everything is off. HOw much are the chain kits? Dont think it will be piston rings cos theres no back pressure when the filler cap is taken off. Ive only just noticed it today. My friend said it had the off bit of smoke the other week, but nothing to be worried about, but today it was really noticable.
  22. HELP Blue smoke coming from the exhaust and quite alot of it. Plum of blue smoke when accelerating. Also noticed when when it was in a high gear around town with foot off thr throtle. Dont think its piston rings becuase theres no chuffing when the oil filler cap is removed.
  23. Guuna attempt to remove this today. Does the front bumper need to come off, or just jack the car up?
  24. Ive done a bit or searhcing and it hasnt really helped. The VR doesnt seem to have much power below 3500. Will different cams help with lower end power? What difference is there in 263s and 268s? Thanks
