  1. A properly remapped VR6 with no cat, will make more power than the same car that hasnt been remapped, FACT.
  2. BIG wastegates are needed when BIG turbos are used to run SMALL boost. Dont fall into the age ol trap of bigger is better, because it is all relative.
  3. What parts were used? Crank Rods Pistons Head gasket You wanna know what bore the engine is What compression ratio it is Im sure I dont need to prompt you any further.
  4. for 600 quid it is worth asking all the questions as that is a VERY cheap price if it is a real 3.1
  5. It would be wrong to presume anything. 3.1 engines are known to give trouble - I would be asking the seller ALOT of questions about it. The compression ratio for one.
  6. I would do a little research on the engine 1st. Being bored out to 3.1 means it has at least an 85mm bore, or its is bored and stroked. Have you seen the engine running at all?
  7. You'll need to fit the VR6 engine management loom.
  8. A quick intenet search turned this up: step1 30lbft step2 44lbft step3 1/4 turn step4 1/4 turn
  9. Run the car up to temperature and With VAG COM clear the fault codes, even if none appear. Look at block 99, box 4. This tells you if closed loop lambda control is active or not. When it becomes active, then look at box 3 of block 99, this is live lambda trim. Take a note of these values. Put the standard chip back into the ECU and let it idle up to temperature With VAG COM clear the fault codes, even if none appear. Again Look at block 99, box 4. This tells you if closed loop lambda control is active or not. When it becomes active, then look at box 3 of block 99, this is live lambda trim. T
  10. Probably best calling our American office.203-889-0008.
  11. Slave cylinder and release bearing is all the same thing on a 02M. Was it a genuine metal item?
  12. Was the slave cylinder/release bearing changed when the clutch was replaced?
  13. A quick google search led to this. Red arrow: Sensor in the block:
  14. Its either that, the master cylinder or the gearbox is loose on the engine.
  15. Sounds like the slave Cylinder has collapsed Craig! Not a nice job!
  16. Paul the finger was a mess, and I have a scar that goes atleast half way round the finger. That picture was taken a few days after it happened. we had to fold the flesh back over the bone and glue it in place. How the nail has grown back properly I will never know. Ive got LOADS more but with out pictures. In my late teens I changed a headgasket on a car. Someone else had already been there and fitted a massive jubilee clip over a smaller pipe. You know so it leaves a really long 'tail'. I didn't notice this and as I put my hand down the back of the engine to work I felt a really sharp pain.
  17. My wife didnt like this one much! ~3" Cut on the palm of my right hand. It went as deep as the tendons and through both the thumb and little finger muscles. I was told by the surgeon at the hospital that full recovery would take 2 years. Watching the surgeon put her finger upto the 1st knuckle into an injury in your hand like that is un-nerving.
  18. Many years ago I managed to beat the end of my finger off with a hammer. My finger was caught between the lip on a brake disc and the blow of a 5lb hammer. They say a picture says a thousand words!
  19. Do you want a list or to just know the worst?
  20. Bens solution is a better idea than wedling your broken one.
  21. This will require specialist welding techniques. A MIG welder wont do it. Can you upload a picture of the area - I might be able to help you.
