  1. national speed limit is 70 in england fella
  2. probably irrelevent but i had an indicated 150 on the speedo racing a jag in my old 1993 obd1 with135k on the odometer and a couple of minor mods round a top speed oval it held that speed for about 10 miles. before it cost me about 500 notes in repairs as i burnt out coilpack plugs leads cat and lambda but was great fun doing it and frightened the 5h1t out of the jag driver my current standard 1996 i havent tried racing yet but it pulls like a train so im expecting similar figures. vr's looooove to be pushed even in standard form. and suprise quite a few people in much flashier modern cars
  3. people r selling them on ebay but at 60 quid. thats steep
  4. i no the thing. my tank spilt over it one day coz i didnt put lid on proper n prior to that some one had broken off the little cover for the fuses. i did try drying it and replaced the fuses that had already blown but guess damage had been done. can i hook it up via the thermal switch/sensor even if just on faster speed
  5. hey guys and gals. im finally back on the rd with my v but it runs real hot in traffic jams. ive been havin to put heating on to bring temp down. it gets to about 110 before i shit myself n crank up the blowers. im guessing its fan control gone but what is it n where is it. also is it possible to hook up the fans to run of the thermal switch instead of the multi speed thingy.
  6. i dont have a bently manual but i do have a russek pocket mechanic one for a vr6. to get a vr6 specific manual is going to be expensive as they are more a specialist manual compared to a haynes or similar. spend the money and buy a bentley one. keep an eye on the3 forums as they occasionally appear, but the people on here are pretty damn knowledgable so just ask if you have any questions
  7. hmmmm i know of a knackered one that already has the inside's crumbling out of it. i think i'll go smash the rest out. im moving soon from the flat to a house and it's got a garage so no more working in the cold and wet...... yip fukin eeeee
  8. i wont be doing this one, i ran on the rollers at jkm down here very recently. made 178.2 at the flywheel in stock form, will hopefully make one later in the year to see what a service and a few tinkles get me
  9. i've got an ashley cat back in mild steel i wanna use with a small middle box, but to replace the twin tail back box. im gunna be stuffing a universal 5" stainless stubby back box out the side of the rear bumper. i know some of you dont like these 'jap crap' box's but since this my 2nd vr is just for fun and not needed for family duties im gunna play silly buggers with it poking the filter out the offside wing and the zorst out the nearside. i wanna hear it suck up everything in its path and then spit it out the back think fat lairy pikey bird kind of brash lol
  10. re-run the wires with new stuff, the stuff vw use aint exactly brilliant, you may have disturbed a brittle cable. but it sounds more like your sending the signal back to the stereo, basically the same has hooking up the poss and neg together. hence why its going into protect to stop it burning out the stereo. even if not same colour wires there should be a marker to distinguish what is what, ie....red dot for poss black dot for neg, or a imprint of a + or - sign on the little board the posts are attatched to on the speaker.
  11. not even a head unit, my sound track is provided by the noise of my 6 pot
  12. my tester is quite good, he's a dub fan and plays be the letter of the book, so no defined rule means not an issue
  13. after reading the linky (cheers russ) ive decided a side exit out behind the rear wheel is an ecceptable way to do it. because ..... a. it cant be drawn in through an open wind b. its behind the front wheels c. so long as it meets emmisions limits its safe wasnt someone else on here running side exits just in front of the rear wheels not to long ago.
  14. the mad merc with the zorst out the front wing is the mclaren slr. and as for noise that thing is a joke. also some of the drift cars have zorst coming out the front wing. plus from my max power days of driving a few people had them exiting out the front. my main concern is the spitting fumes at pedestrians. well not really a concern as i wont be breathing it in lol. if there is nothing in the mot testers bible to define where an exhaust can or cant exit then i think i feel a side exit coming on. also since there are no clear guide lines as to noise limits and since i previously passed an mot
  15. hey guys got a couple of quick questions whats the deal/law with regards to side exit exhaust's? can i have it exiting on the passenger side or is blowing exhaust fumes at padestrians illegal? also is there enough room to exit behind the rear wheel through the bumper?
  16. Well i took the new(ish) vr down there for a run and at 105k on the clock and nothing more than a cheap cone filter she made 178.2. Personally im quite chuffed with that. They even said it may of made more if the shitty old filter wasnt on it.
  17. just thought id add this in here for the southern monkey's. it's on saturday 26 march. who fancies standing up for the v6 massive http://www.dubscene.net/forum/index.php?/topic/5679-dubscene-rolling-road-day-jkm-26032011/page__pid__52193__st__60#entry52193
  18. cant just swap shifts as it's my standby/call-out shift and taking it off means i lose money as cant book holiday days for weekends, hopefully be able to get to one later in the year.
  19. grrrr 3rd sunday of the month means im bloody working again. i never get to any of these, typical. on a side note about the summer bbq thingy i have an idea for a location................. ......west whitterings beach, its near bognor. bout 5 quid entry/parking but a good clean beach that stretches out for miles before it's knee deep so great for the little uns. bbq's are allowed on the grass/carpark area and whould make a great back drop for the photo happy amoungst us
  20. WTF? thats dreadful, he's either a prize wining idiot or foreign, i mean for god sake my 11 year old son has a better grasp on spelling the english language than that. i can do better than that and for me school was just a place i went to get lunch when i was bunking off.
  21. just to add my 2 cents worth, as most of the noise will be coming from the rear of the car a roll of self adhesive roofing bitumen does a great job and it's cheap, its about 1mx5m for about 20 quid, if your removing the carpets also remove the boot carpets and panels and stick a couple of layers on everything, for 20 quid you can completely cover the boot in 2 layers and with the carpets out you could get a second roll and double up on the floor pan and door outer panels
  22. lack of power, sounds like a scooby with a 5 inch back box and a cat that looks like you got under car neon's?? get the coil pack checked mine done exactly those symptoms coz the coil pack gave out after chasing a jag , unfortunately i had no rac so had to limp home 50 miles, ended up costing me 6 plug's, 6 leads, coilpack, cat and lambda, plus a couple of bottle's of de-coke as i carboned up the valves on the cylinder that wasnt firing right. turns out i seriously fried the cat, when i removed it the internals fell out the end lol
  23. adrian flux offer terms ranging from 7 days i beleive, depends on how temp you want it. but it's not cheap to do it. i googled short term car insurance and came up with this lot SHORT TERM INSURANCE POLICY
  24. if it goes in as a mk3 vr it's tested as a mk3 vr, and i beleive they all had/have cat's. the cat is just there to reduce emmision's. if you can get them low enough, then it'll pass as the cat is not needed to reduce the emmisions. most tester's dont care if the cat is there or not so long as the emmisions aint stupidly high. just ask the bloke to go easy on it. i usually do and just end up with a slightly longer list of advisories and a bill for a new bulb or some thing silly as apposed to fail's
