  1. im missing yet another cool event due to work commitments. and the miserable buggers say i have to take the whole week off if i just want an odd day. how backwards is that. i been egging to get my motor on the strip ever since i got it. why have a vr and not put it to use. yet all the bloody good events always fall on my call out shift.
  2. im sure this question has been answered before but i cant find it on the search option. just that you must not sand the knobble away anyway, i want to do the old smooth the inside of the throttle body thingy. but the questions i have are plentyfull - i have a rado tb, does this have the so called knobble on the inlet side? does it also have one on the outlet side? also what is under said knobble? what happens if i grind through it? is it just a hole or are we talking water way or something? if i do grind through it can i chemical metal it and re smooth it? obviously i dont want to over s
  3. buy the parts and build it mate, i was gunna get an alloy maf to filter tube made up when i put the filter in the bumper, but instead i got some straight tube and a couple of silicon bits and ay wullah filter relocated to behind front bumper
  4. mines a ccm code, and is a very common one, i beleive most vr6 powered gearbox's are interchangable its just the gear ratio's or something that makes them different, apologies if im wrong, im sure someone will correct me accourdingly
  5. gto main hmmmm wonder if an adaptor plate on this would work, thats a nice looking inlet lol
  6. egypt, its ok for some, what time is that one on mate? i got a bbq saturday night but might be able to pop out afterwards, will try and remember the fault code reader as well next time so can give peoples cars the once over if they want.
  7. bm mani is this the m50 mani you was thinking of? looking at it, it would sit quite high, possibly fouling the bonnet. plus the tb port would need fitting a custom induction hose to it, or even a vr tb and custom induction, but i doubt i could squeeze 6 tiddler tbs between that and the vr lower mani,. im thinking i'll just pinch a short runner from somewhere, and use a single tb out of curiosity how tapered is a short runner mani? are they well balanced? would it be best just using one of them since my aim is to keep it n/a and get the best i can out of it for now, f/i is out of my league at
  8. lol, sounds good on full chat, bit tiresome on motorways if you hold around 2500-3000rpm which is motorway 70mph. i used to have a free flow 6x9 back box on it before the ashley one but that was an animal lol, be even better when i de-cat it i'll swap my whole car for your borbet rims mate lol
  9. packed meet tonight, lots of new faces turned up, a glowing success if i do say so myself lol. just me and damo and his nate tonight, thought we would of seen more faces tonight what with the good weather but never mind. we'll do another in a couple of weeks or a month and give everyone chance to figure out what days they can and cant do. what was you shouting at me at the round about damo? im going deaf anyway and couldnt hear nothing through the glass
  10. yeah i get what you mean about faning them out, but then there is even more space being taken up. and as you say having a balanced plenum stuck in there as well could be tricky unless the tb's were very short but then they would be pointless due to being to small. the nissan roller tb's are out of the question by the looks of em, the unit itself is the size of a shoe box plus id have to make some sort of twisted pipe up to get the lower section into line with a straight configuration like the vr since the ports are 3 each side where it bolts between the heads on a proper v engine. never though
  11. use the obd1 2.8 tb on the 2.9 mani. they are direct fit to each other and the engine. i run 2.9 mani and tb on my 2.8, although not a huge power gain it is a slight improvement. the changes are only miniscule and probably not worth it in the long run unless your going to charge the car at some point, then the slightly larger increase may be of benefit, some people claim 10bhp from a 'rado inlet swap, i'd say probably more like 3 or 4bhp at best
  12. hmmm need to get out then pencil and paper and see if i can come up with a plenum type thing to feed all 6. well 3 banks of 2 if swapped in from a skyline. then fit the maf at one end and a filter on that, that would make it a short runner type set up but 6 instead of 1 tb, wouldnt that make #1 run lean and #6 rich by enclosing them? also ive got a twin roller throttle body from a nissan v6 race engine but the 'trumpets' are staggered and wouldnt line up unless i cut/weld, but that would be ruining billet tb's lol
  13. i probably already know the answer to this but what sort of a difference would it make if i popped 6 smaller tb's onto a lower inlet mani and ran the car that way? i was thinking a set of rb26 skyline tb's, will i need to run custom management or would it be possible to fit em on and drive? main problem im guessing is the maf or throttle position sensor, how do i get round that?
  14. waterlooville? is that the one thats 2nd exit of the a3m, by b and q? dunno if i'll make 6:30 but i'll certainly try, be good for a little convoy in, and aint ssen ya about for ages damo. apart from occasionally in ur town
  15. well done fella, just goes to show hard work and love for your motor is rewarding
  16. bump up the harris??? huh??? dan any chance u can have an ear wig at my motor its making some funny noise from the box end of the engine,?? poss the diff
  17. you will be making a complete waste of time trying to fit an obd1 throttle body onto an ob2 manfold, you will make no gains at all, to save yourself hassle just buy a corrado inlet manifold from ebay.co.uk or any number of vw forums and port polish your original lower manifold, obviously it will cost money but it will be a lot less than realising you have just ruined 2 perfectly good manifolds for nothing then having to go buy another just to get your car on the road again, or if you want to start cutting things up id go with the short runner, it is a complete waste of time trying to do what y
  18. 30th? tuesday next week? i can do that, just not anyday this week, hence why i gotta miss dbscene thursday,
  19. i could do with another trip up the hill, aint been since the last one, most nights the same week as adam are good for me. would prefere thursday so can get my mate down in his r32, also if anyone is interested dubscene are doing a gathering on 27th down clarence pier. i cant make it as its my call out week but there is a fair bit of interest on the dubscene website, and lots of local's.
  20. i just tried calling vw to get some info on what oil i should use and they gave me a part number for the 4motion, g52 oil. 052726 but 82 not a2??? but didnt give me a price, how much is 2 ltrs of g52? i'll use the best i can afford but everyone knows how expensive vw are for parts. will it help quiten down my diff? 8im also adding moly slip. i think the diff is getting a bit noisey, making a whiney noise. also 1st to 2nd when giving it beans it sometimes jams in 2nd. this is the 2nd box ive put on the car and all of em have done the same thing. my last literally spat its diff out on the motorw
  21. NOT MY INSTRUCTIONJS AND LOOKS A BIT SHABBY BUT THOUGHT SOMEONE MAY MAKE USE OF IT, THERE WAS A COUPLE OF PICS BUT I DIDNT ADD EM VW 1998 Jetta GLX or VR6 GTI PCV valve Modification Disclaimer: This is how I ended up modifying my stock PCV so I did not have to buy a complete intake hose (+/- $150). Don’t blame me if this does not work or if it makes it worse… You are doing this at your own risk. Materials: (1) Plastic Epoxy (fast setting type) I used Loctite Plastic Epoxy (sets in 7 minutes) (2) 1 foot of ¾ inch (ID) radiator/heater hose. You only need about 3†but this is the minimum yo
  22. FOUNDTHESE INSTRUCTIONS OF HOW TO SOLDER/DE-SOLDER A CHIP IN A VR6. NOT MY INSTRUCTIONS, CUT AND PASTED FROM A PDF I FOUND ON GOOGLE, MAY BE OF USE TO SOME ONE. How To Unsolder The ECU Chip In A 95 GTI VR6 NOTE: This is what I did to unsolder my chip & solder in a socket, but if you follow these instructions and you screw up your ECU, don't blame me. NOTE 2: PRACTICE! PRACTICE! PRACTICE! The ECU costs $900.00 to replace. Practice all your de-soldering & soldering moves on something before doing it to your ECU for real! I practiced on the board of an old 2400 baud modem, which has chips
  23. come on people, add the sound of your cars. dont matter if its totally standard or a 1000bhp tri-turbo, nitrous oxide breathing fire spitting monster, its the drug we all crave, the sound of a vr6 on full throttle.
  24. added mine to lc5p, wow dragon green is popular
