Ahhh boo that's a shame bud. As to your original question only difference I can think of is dizzy or coilpack.

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=350630182162 that's what I ordered but just made best offer of £55. (Last year mind)
-
I actually went for a enclosed RAM Air filter. £55. Brand spanking. Same principle as the BMC just without the eye watering price. Sounds fine IMO.

Thanks mate. I might have someone coming up from that way! Thanks for the offer i'll let you know!

http://dubpower.co.uk/ht%20leads.htm £35 - Always used them, never had any problems.

I had a custom Longlife once, sounded immense and fitted perfectly with a lifetime warrenty. It was circa £300 though. On my mk3 currently i run a Supersprint I got from on here. Just keep an eye on the forsale ads and ebay and you should pick a system up for circa £100. As to which sound the best well thats all personel preference.

Did the pod filter kill my MAF sensor?
Ickyketseddie replied to 96VR6NZ's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
No it'll be fine. MAF's do fail.People run FI through standard MAF's without issue. Maybe disturbing the original to fit the new filter actually caused the issue? -
Im sure i remember reading v5 boxes have a higher final drive, so yeah closer gears. Need different cups on the shaft too IIRC to make it fit.

Sorry I never made it onto the stand. Since the queues were short I was filling my boots with track time, then I had to head off early. Anyway looked like an ace turnout for the club. Looking forward to seeing some photos! Couple of mine I took and a vid of Dave running my car on the FB Page. www.facebook.com/caseracinguk
