Not my taste in colour. It has made £2500 before? What is this guy hoping to make on it? People sell stuff on ebay to get rid off quickly... if he wants to make more money they need to advertise in another place.

I would stay clear of VR's with no proper service history mate... but then that's just my opinion. A vr is a solid buy and extremely reliable but only IF it is well looked after and serviced regularly. It's like any sports car, a VR, Evo, Subaru etc... these cars are thrashed, (as they're designed to), and therefore need more looking after than a bog standard car, and normally will actually last much much longer than a bog standard car...because it has been well looked after. Anyone can sell their car and say they themselves or one of their mates has serviced it themselves because they can

Suspension advice please
matth76 replied to dstyrrell's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
You could look at the GMAX kit mate. I have that on mine and its perfect. Only very slightly harder but still comfortable. Full kit for £200. Gas shocks so last longer than oil based ones and full 3 yr guarentee. The Phirm fitted mine. The gmax kit says it lowers it 35 mm but it is more like 40-45mm. Looks perfect. -
If you have an OBD1 2.9 then you will benefit from an enlarged butterfly on your throttle body combined with Stealth's remap. I don't know much about increasing the compression ratio on the mk3 vr to get more power. I do know it makes it slightly less reliable if you increase the compression ratio...hence higher powered turbo conversions normally involve lowering the compression ratio. Stealth will be able to better answer your question. Let us know what you find out.

Magnex are also used on TVR's.

I had a relatively lightly modded VR... exhaust, air filter, before I had my 268 Eurospec cams put in. After the cams and remap I got a total of 12-15bhp with an increase in 1 lbs/ft peak torque but less torque lower down the rev range, which is normal. In total I now have 207bhp and 194 lbs/ft peak torque. You'll need the remap to get the fuelling spot on otherwise you could be prone to pinking.

£2k is limiting you to an older higher mileage VR mate or poorly looked after one, Highline or normal one. Personally (if possible) I would wait a few more weeks until you have another grand to put towards the car. You'll regret it otherwise. £3k will be a much more realistic price to get a good mileage VR with FSH ..although even with the right money the search always takes a long time finding a good one. Good luck in your search mate.

Hi mate First all price you should be looking at should be around £3k for the car above. Full service history is a must...as with any performance car. Servicing should be every 10k miles or every 12 months which ever is sooner. When you go to look at it make sure it is totally cold by putting your hand on the engine or pipes under the bonnet. Don't accept any excuse if it has been driven before you see it...walk away. Generally they are robust engines. 91k miles is good...bearing in mind average mileage a year is 12k so 120k miles is average for a ten year old car. VR6's are good for up t

Sounds a mystery. If you're in Heathrow area I would suggest taking your car down to The Phirm (in Surrey) ...they will diagnose and check your car... or Stealth who aren't too far either in the opposite direction. Could be your leads or plugs. Or possibly the coil pack. Give em a ring they are very friendly and much much more experienced and cheaper than a main dealer. Good luck mate. Let us know how you get on.

Tesco 99 makes my car run smoother. I've tried all the others. Don't be put off by it being Tesco... they get their fuel from a very good quality supplier. Its also cheaper than you think - local one near me is 100p/ltr. Only downside is it is only sold in a few areas... until they get their act together and do it everywhere.

Who did your mapping/chip Riggs?
-
Who did your rebuild mate?
-
Totally agree with above. Stealth remapped my car. Its a FULL custom remap, as opposed to an off the shelf chip. Stealth's remap costs the same as the chip so you are also getting more for your money at Stealth. Remaps are far better than chips as they are tailored to your car (every car is slightly different). Stealth are one of the best tuning companies in the UK mate. Def worth a visit when it comes to ECU mapping. They have a rolling road too and will get a full power and torque readout before and after the remap...all included as part of the remap. Stealth's remap is £300.

Tappety noise is normal mate...nothing to worry about.
-
Does sound odd. Where did you get it mapped? Was it a superchip or a full custom remap? Although if it was mapped and rolling roaded at the same time then that should be fine. There could have been a problem in its service history with the previous owner that was initially fixed but left some metal fatigue or stressed the internals in some way...but the part finally gave way now.
-
How long have you had the car Riggs? Feel sorry for you man...what a f*cker! It could be that the previous owner never looked after the car and caned it from cold - normally takes at the very least 10 mins before the engine should be taken over 3000revs when oil has reached op temp (88-90deg). Could be any number of things though that has caused this. As said above long term pinking (which can go un-noticed unless on a rolling road) could have caused this or even worse - detonation but this is rare unless its supercharged and badly mapped. Was your car chipped or modded in any way?

I've got a Milltek cat back too. Stealth commented how good it fitted and the quality was very good. Really lovely noise. Its quiet but louder than stock and deeper. I've heard it against a Jetex and Magnex and my Milltek is quieter. I've also been told its quieter than Scorpion. The Milltek really makes a proper howl when you put your foot down which is how I wanted it: quiet when you want it but nice when you floor it... and it really emphasises that V6 howl. Its not loud or droney at all cruising at 70mph. Other options is a Supersprint, which is only partial stainless steel - mild

What's the best exhaust (quality wise) out there? Haven't heard much about Bastuk ...are these far better than Supersprint / Milltek and the likes?
-
Changing the Valve stem seals shouldn't require an engine rebuild. It will be a lengthy job though.

What company do you work for mate? Do you have a website? Sounds very good to get all the parts for around £2.5k. Would that be good for 400bhp? What torque would it be able to produce? I already have one of Stealth's 'rechips' so I assume I would be looking at a further £300 on top for Vince to remap it all. What is your RHD manifold made of? Is it same as stock - cast iron? Obviously LSD is extra... any idea how much this would be...are we talking around £2k for LSD fully fitted by a specialist? And what about a new uprated clutch, would this be a good idea to handle all the torqu
