Cheers for your reply. Anyone used it on their VR?
-
Assuming the bottom end is in good nick then it should kick out about 205-210bhp... pretty similar to mine I reckon as I have similar mods.
-
It should be pretty even between a lightly modded (200bhp) VR and the cooper S WORKS which also has 200bhp but less torque at 180 lbs/ft, some have upgrades to 210bhp. The "works" weigh roughly the same as a VR (the Cooper S standard actually weighs a lot more at 1240kgs). The mini is easily tunable though being charged. However despite all this I would never spend my money on one...far better things for the money on the roads. The new mini is far too big for my liking.

If the problem wasn't there before the map I would take it back and get them to sort it. I have no experience of Dubsport so not sure how good or bad they are. Who recommended you get a remap mate? Have you got some 268 cams fitted? A remap or chip on an OBD2 will make no power increase unless you have relatively big mods (the standard obd2 ecu is very good), such as cams, shrick or more, however it should make your car drive better getting rid of any flat spots.

Hi A mate from work has just come back from a day at brands hatch and has got some spare redex fuel injection cleaner... He reckoned it was pretty good stuff. Anyone else tried this...is it worth it? Cheers Matt

Why is that antera...whats wrong with the obd1's?

Could still be worth checking all 6 plugs are 'fully' tightened. When I first got my VR I got it in for a full service at a VW main dealer. BIG mistake. They neglected to fully tighten up EVERY single one of my 6 plugs...leading to hesitation, especially when cold before work and after. Basically when the engine had warmed up (the metal expanded) and the symptoms went away. I was positive it was the coil pack or leads but was a very simple fix. But certainly never trusting my car with a main dealer since then.

If you type BBC News in Google and go to the bbc site it has up to date info. Says he has been having conversations etc and James May said he is just the same and fully intact inside. I agree with above and hope this doesn't put him off at all.

7th one down is mystic blue... thats my colour...very nice! I think the light blue one you must have seen has been removed or sold since you posted the link. -
Do you have standard wheels... a 17" with a 40 profile has a very slightly overall larger diameter than the standard 15" 50 profile wheel.

I think the brake discs are a fair bit larger on the vr6 (288mm on the vr... not sure on the gti) but I doubt there's much difference in the stock vr and gti suspension. Gear box may be slightly different.

Ok I have had a look and there is one large black cover (obviously holding a cluster of bulbs - can't tell which ones). There seem to be two clips at the top but can't see/feel any clips underneath so can't see how to release the cover. There is also what looks like a group of wires going to just one single bulb holder underneath this large black cover. What bulb is this? Is this the main head light bulb, or will the main head light bulb be in the large cluster above, accessed via the black cover? I have tried unclipping the single bulb underneath the black cover but even though I can pre

At lower speed my car was pretty even with a ctr after coming out from a roundabout - I was in front of him and he kept with me - however I was pulling away in second gear not first so I could have been a bit quicker from the roundabout. However after about 5 secs my car started pulling away from it - and he was definitely trying as he tried having another race to keep up with me from the next roundabout. My car has 207bhp though which helps.

VR6 Down on power / torque

Sounds like the timing is out...the cams are not in quite right or the chains are not in correctly - have the chains been done recently? Alternatively it could simply be the cam position sensor which if it goes you can lose up to 30bhp. Did the "performance specialist" not put it on vag-com? This is the vw audi scanner which will scan your car for any sensor faults - such as the cam position sensor. Of course it could be something else. Could be a clogged throttle body perhaps. Others on here may give other possible causes. However the best solution is to ring up Stealth Racing, or The P -
Ok I've had a check and the fuses seem ok so can only assume both bulbs have gone...one probably went recently and then the other. I have bought the bulbs from Halfords...they are halogen ones as per the chart they had in there. Ok my question is what is the procedure for changing the main head light bulbs (they are the outer bulbs). The inner bulbs, which are the side light/dip lights and full beam are fine. Do I have to take the whole unit out or is it much simpler than that? Cheers

I agree. I used the new V Max recently and noticed no difference at all. If anything I thought the Tesco 99 made my car pull slightly better. Plus its far cheaper!
-
This might be of interest: http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=14919 Seems to suggest Tesco 99 stuff is very good (better than the new V power according to initial tests - see bottom of article)...especially for charged cars.

70-75mph at 3000revs is normal. In fact the VR revs quite low for speed compared to average cars.
-
Normal operating oil temp is 88-90c. Takes at least 10-15mins to reach this. Stealth recommend not to take the revs over 3000-3500k during this warm up period. 70-80 seems a bit low to be normal operating temp.

Hi Just noticed when I put my head lights on I only have side/dip lights and full beam, but I don't have the normal full head lights. Both the bulbs are not on. Anyone else have this happen? What caused it? Could it be a fuse? Wheres the best place to get a new fuse..halfords? Or is it a vw part that I need? Thanks for any help, Matt

Assume you're talking about the Sierra Cossie and not the Escort? As the escort came with 4wd. The earlier Sierra Cossie came with rear wheel drive which would be scary! But fun (if controlled properly). Ian at the Phirm is getting one I think. The VR will be far safer in the wet, mainly because its fwd and far less power. However if you take a corner or roundabout slightly too fast you'll oversteer all of a sudden... I know as I did without warning...easily controllable though, but was only doing 20mph.. it was very wet. "her indoors"... lol
