In-Line Vee got a reaction from MK4motionVR6 in Mk1 Scirocco Supercharged Vr6
I apologize for the delay in posting any updates; unfortunately, I don't have an update to offer. I am still waiting for the the Aluminum T-Stat housing and cover from Eurowise. I intend on making some, rather, large purchases in a few months (Schrick 263 cams, TT high flow valves w/ HD Springs & titanium retainers, Lugtronic Stand alone engine mangement system, and more). Once I realized this wasn't going to be done this summer, decided to make another investment, or two.
My soon to be Daily

My new Carry Pistol (not car related but a major hobby of mine)
I promise to post updates as soon as I aquire something new or put something together.

Appreciate you taking the time to do it :-)

Schimmel performance.
You won't go wrong with 263's.

Until you try some good brakes, you have no idea how bad the standard ones are :-)
Don't get me wrong, we don't all have deep pockets, but seriously......4 pots and 330mm discs are what high performance VR6s need.
Junctions and roundabouts come up real quick ;-)
312s with Ferodo DS2500s are about as good as you can get with stock bolt on parts, but AP Racing or Brembo is the way to go if you can afford it :-)
I would also change the Master Cylinder for a MK4 24mm item

Wiring and connectors is like witchcraft, it's all in the car, somewhere, you turn the key, witchcraft happens, and the car works. I've read this whole thread through now and really liking the car.

Forgot to take pics of the ecu, but here are some shots from the fuse block (which was a pain in the rear to pull out!).
It would be a lie if I said "I didn't brake any tabs" while removing it. I had to walk away a few times to avoid yanking it all out due to the frustration..
Also seperated the tranny from the block, pressure plate and flywheel had some hot spots.
And yes, I realize that the oil pan is on the floor; I have no intention on using it and have a spare in the event I actually needed it. I will post more pics after I receive some parts that I have ordered or after I finish pulling the wiring harness from the GTI.
Till next time...

I did a compression test to her and got following: Cylinders (1) 160, (2) 180, (3) 160, (4) 185, (5) 150, (6) 180. So I decided to strip her down and just do a full rebuild. It will have a complete new gasket/ seal kit installed, new bearings across the board, Timing chain kit, gruven parts lightweight pulley kit, and the head will be refreshed with HD Springs, Titanium Retainers, and lightweight lifters. It will also be getting a Mkiv Headgasket to bring the compression up to 10.5:1. Needless to say, I began to order some parts.
I will say this, if there was anything good about spending a crap load of money all at once, it would be coming home to a ton of packages waiting for you to open!
5m later...
Unboxed it all!
Mounts
Axles
O2A Manual cable conversion (and other accessories)
Gruvenparts package!
2.9 Intake Manifold.
Not a clone!
Now, I just need to start polishing it
Save up to recover from the coin dropped on parts above, and ordered a few more lol, unfortunately my gf opened a few of the boxes so no pics of them waiting at the door; here is what was inside
Main bear set, rod bearing set, thrust washer set, block gasket set, HD Corrado Speedo cable
Metal impeller water pump w/ gasket, Bosch Spark plug wire set, 7lb Eurospec LW Flywheel, Spark plug removal tool

He immediately goes to work on the damaged Rocker panel (which aside from the Megasquirt headaches was the main reason the previous owner sold the car)
Goes to work on some electrical issues
Then worked on repairing the body gaps!
Walt States "amazingly solid...magnet sticks everywhere. TONS of crap primer on though, she definitely wasn't nowhere near ready for paint. "
And really goes to town on her!

In-Line Vee got a reaction from VR6Pete in Are you a lurker?
VR6Pete,
I have been a long time reader (lurker) for over 8 years. In the beginning it was due to me not owning a Vr6, than it was due to the displeasure gained at another forum (stayed away from forums for a while), and finally I relocated and began collecting firearms opposed to working on my car(s). It has been a long time coming, and honestly I don't think I would have become an active member if it wasn't for this "Are you a lurker?" topic lol. I commend you for bringing us "lurkers" out of the woodwork lol. Ok, enough rear end smooching; but seriously, you are a good admin who is actually active to his forum and that is appreciated.
rodney,
You guessed it right; Western, MD is in the USA and there are surely a shortage of Syncro's out here! Hopefully WWMMCC decidest to keep that treasure.
WWMMCC,
I am not sure where in Western, MD you are, but I am in Northern, VA which shouldn't be more than 2 or 3 hours(tops) from one another. Maybe we can get together for a cruise or something??
Ok, I think it is time for me to introduce myself in the welcome area. Thanks again VR6Pete.

Godspeed Aluminum Rad with dual slim mount fans.
"The proof is in the pudding"
Recover again, just to send more funds out the door!
Clutch kit (minus throwout bearing; on order), SAI Delete Plug, and Ignition Coil Spacer.
I came across a deal that caused me to drive 3 hours north. I left my Mk1 cabby with its new owner and returned home with…
Stage II Vortech V1 Kit
Began Polishing the Intake manifold
And now I understand why so many people quit half way through! Lol I also received the Mk1 Vr6 Throttle cable and Heater core adapters.
Photo of the Shift rod conversion
There is much more for me to upload but finding the time to take all the photos has become a bit of a challenge. I will continue to update accordingly. I hope no one views this as "spamming the forum" this is my current build and one of my dream cars.. Thanks for viewing.

In-Line Vee reacted to VR6Pete in Organising Regional / Local Meets
A while ago, we had members who arranged local meets in different areas on a monthly basis and this was great for getting more people getting involved with the club and also attending our bigger meets and events.
As members come and go over the years this has fallen to the way-side and we were thinking that this would be a good thing to get up and running again in 2014.
You don't have to be experienced in any way, regional / local meets are informal, usually organized at pubs and other locations that offer warm shelter, food and beer and is an opportunity to meet and get to know other members near you, where convoys etc.. can be arranged when attending our national events.
We have also done things as tunnel runs and just general driving about to locations of interest outside of the show season / area should you not really be interested in that type of event.
So, over to you, our members to step up and organize mini-meets within your local area, using the forum as a platform to gauge interest and possible locations.
It might be worth members posting up their location and noting if you have attended previous regional meets through the club in the past along with the location it used to be held.
We hope that you will support the club by organizing mini-meets and also to others showing support by attending these monthly meetings, even if its just meeting up in a pub for a couple of pints with like minded people.
Thanks.
Pete
