what a nutter! just get some zw1`s !!! every one else has!

wheels will fit etc right et and ofset, dont know about arch clearance?? how much gap do you have now between ur arch and top of tyre now? not very scientific i know but a rolling radius of a 17 inch 8 j rim with a 205 40 tyre on will be the same size (what you gain in rim size you lose in tyre profile, if you get what i mean?) + or - a few mm as a 205 50 0n a 15 in rim (if you lay a 17 inch rim with 40 profile rubber on top of a 15 inch rim qith 50 profile rubber they will be same size), so in theory if your tyre dont hit now it could be ok? just remember you are adding an inch width though,

, ah thats cool then hope tis smoothed away, back on to the caliper grinding episode!! what wheels you gettin????? BBS???? porsche???? :| come on spill those beans!

new ones will sort it mate, there was a recent thread about the bearing fitting, its not too bad, are your rear discs worn? if they are it might be worth doing them too as you cant get a bearing out undamaged onced "pressed" in, it damages the race, just a thought & saves doing it twice, oh and get genuine bearings if you can? some of the ecp and after market stuff isnt that good quality.

sorry this is off thread stockers No dubsingh i sold it needed a 5 door, so my highline was the next on the list! some pics of my rallye in the gallery, i got 5k for it 8) my highline i got for 3k so what a result i still have a debadged rallye grille in my garage though, needs painting and a little bit of filler on a slat where the badge was removed, know anyone who needs one?

good rub with a shammy! what a c**t , if its burnt into your paint nothing short of wet and dry will get it out! clay bar (at their expense!) may begin to rectify it? if not they are responsible! i had a simmilar experience with a guy cutting a kerb stone near my rallye golf, i informed him, in some well chosen anglo saxon phrases, he should desist his work while i was at the traffic lights, or he would be experiencing some unusual sensations around his mouth area! bits of moulten concrete flying up the bumper of my rallye!!!!! ~ not happy but lucky no damage. !shy

rear bearings on a vr6 are supposed to have a small amount of play in them (taper bearings always do) some dick head in a quick fit where i had a puncture repaired at, tried to tell me i had a knackered wheel bearing too! c**t, i informed him this was not the case & to stick to fitting valves in tyres! anyway my point is this if you over tighten the bearing it will start to break up and the burning smell maybe the bearing/grease under the cap getting fking hot, as you say about your scirroco i had the same (almost) with a mk1 golf but managed to get to it before it went- luckily.

sounds like minute particals of moulton metal have fallen/sprayed up on your wings from the grinding!! er if it is metal then when it landed still hot it will have burnt throught the laquer! as sanky says give it a good wash and clay bar it see if it smooths out, if not "A WHEEL SHOP" might owe you a couple of wings painted! or cheap alloys! why dont people at garages use wing guards? they are cheap as fuck and every mechanic has some but they just hang on their toolbox`s coz they got "snap on" written on!

congratulations, hope your brought her home in the new "recaro" baby seat in the VR6! my daughter cam home in a Golf Rallye! what an introduction to cars!

ask ECP! they are a law unto themselves with part numbering! best to get the vw part number and see if they can cross reference
-
mmm think hes headed off to try and fleece the rice boys! lets hope x) he dont cross someone from the Yakuza or triads! (like they use car clubs!) i cant understand why this bloke has done what he has? i am at a total loss where he thinks this will end up? no one`s gonna buy anything off him so he will just be another wanabe car tuner with no customers! i really am genuinely gutted for those who he owes money to ~

worse then, it will come through in a hundred bits! -
PHM i think you'll find that Aux water pump runs all the time with engine on regardless if i'ts hot or cold. And carries on running for a futher 5-10mins after the ignition is turned off. in the words of andy pipkin "yeah i know" you can hear it more after switch off from running hot though, sanky i think this noise people are on about is the buzz type humm that nerih mentions in his hall sender thread where the throttle and ecu reset and synchronise themselves, my rallye golf used to do it too when you set the ignition to on but not started, i will only worry if mine stops doing it !amazed

there are a few N reg obd1 highlines on here, Nerih`s being the first that springs to mind, the guide is in premium guide section, basic differences are few bits and sensors around the engine bay etc, the car is the same if its a higline just earlier type engine.

Just fitted all 4 door speakers today, took about an hour,(not bad for an electrical retard!) very impressed with the fit and quality of the Alpines, they sound superb compared to the vw fit ones, easy enough job too, just cut off vw conectors, and fit new crimp terminal on wires, the rear ones nearly caught me out! 4 x wires! :| but 2 power the tweeter in the door handle but run to the lower speaker for power (5 door) i just joined a - and a + together and they work fine still when reconected to the new speaker, once i worked out the blue wire was the + speaker terminal %-6 !!! they are all

i think most alloys are made to a very good standard now days, the only ones that seem to bit a bit iffy are the italian made "replica" audi bmw etc rims, i have heard a few failure stories regarding those, but its possible to buckle or snap even a BBS rim if you hit it hard enough! seen some BBS 20" rims on a jaguar xk8 that the hub snapped from the spokes!! in an accident mind -
yeah i do miss the old thing sometimes, i sold it to a mate of mine for 3k about 6 years ago, he emigrated to america and i think? he may have exported it over there! i keep meaning to go see his parents and find out as i have lost touch with him, he used to keep it in his nans garage, maybe its still there? could buy it back for a tenner!! would be a nice weekend blatter!! still if i hadnt sold it i would never have got the Rallye and subsequently my VR6 so it was a good car in more than one way
