  7. go silver mate, it looks better than red, i did mine the other day with some hammerite smooth, it lasts a long time and looks subtle, just wire brush your calipers off and give em a paint!
  8. i suppose partly its there in case someones leans on the bonnet and gets burned? that would be the last thing they should worry about if i catch some tosser leaning on my vr6`s bonnet!

  11. ha mine has dicoloured my top engine cover too! guess it happens on them all? i have seen a few with the insulation removed, dunno about heat affecting the paint but i would think the noise level goes up?
  12. i keep looking at itand that really is an amazing piece of kit, the turbo must make up for the weight in gold and chrome!!
  13. (couldnt resist the roof gag!) as long as the painter isnt "rolf harris" it will be a decent job i expect? as long as they have an oven and a decent booth to spray in? preperation is the most important part for a nice finish though.
  14. as i have stated before vw`s biggest weakness and always has been is the gearbox!! (i found out the hard way!) in normal use fine but when your sticking that much grunt through it!!! crash bang wallop internals on the road me thinks?
  15. it might make a difference as i think? ecu`s are programmed to the ignition side, best to get it all checked by someone who can do a bit of fault finding for you, if you have power and fuel the fault cant be too great, it sounds immobilised to me though as they would be two points that it would cut off, its just gonna be something really annoying when it gets found!! good luck

  19. yeah my p reg highline has traction control too!! if you really boot it from stand still it lights the wheels up then makes some awfull noises in an attempt to hold the front wheels and then torque steers like a barstard! other than that you wouldnt notice it had it i also have a dud abs sensor on the near side rear (according to vag com) the light goes out every now and then when it feels like it, it needs to work for your mot!!!
  20. could be ecu immobiliser side? do you get dash lights? my rallye done a simmilar thing and it was A, the vaccum pipe from the ecu to the throttle body split, B, battery and earth, sounds like you have tried all the hard things already, were all the parts you swapped from running cars? and the same spec?
