  1. bently manual says its 10 litre's to refill after a total drain. so you'll need 3 bottles of coolant and 6 ltres of distilled water, they are
  2. pretty much every garage i've gone to have put blue anti-freeze in my vr's, i now take ten litres of coolant with the car and tell them to use the coolant i provide!!!
  3. it has a tendancy to corrode the cooling system including heater matrex and coolant pipes
  4. it should be the pink stuff, the blue one is for older odb1 engine, i would ask them 'to kindly replace the coolant with the same as what was in there'
  5. hiya tinny, new year should bring new rims,undecided on body mods as yet. at the moment i'm looking down a big pit and seeing my money flutter down lol
  6. right......very strange, i phoned my mechanic who did my last coolant change and asked the same question and hhe said no. how did he get the coolant out if he didn't use the drain plug?

  8. hi all, i' gonna drain, flush and change my coolant, i see it says i should have a new 'coolant pipe drain plug O-ring' ,is this totally neccesary? what would happen if i didn't put a new O-ring on? cheers
  9. cheers nerih, on the plus side the car is still under warranty so it isn't going to cost me anything to get it fixed. bit of luck i checked the coolant really, i was fitting some bonnet lifters and thought i'd have a little look round the engine to see if anything needed topping up! !dodge

  11. hi all, well.... after having a little mayo on the oil filler cap and needing to top th oil up a bit, i just checked the coolant reservoir and the new coolant has turned into thick oily sludge! not just a bit of discolouring and a bit of a film but thick sludge from top to bottom. i was told by the garage the head gasket had been checked and passed!!!!!!!! !mistrust could be the oil cooler?
  12. i get the same, i had a compression test done and came back fine, i have been told by alot of mechanics the vr6 lump is quite a 'wet' engine and is prone to condensation but get a compression test done to put your mind at ease.

  15. bugger, the bloke who had the car before me had a f***ing tow bar fitted and a plate had to be attatched to hide the hole after it was removed (plate can be seen in the pic) oh well i'll wire up a fog light to go in hole instead

  17. does anyone know if the plastic bit at the bottom of the bumper can be taken off without changing the whole bumper (see pioc below)
  18. camber arms are the rods that adjust the camber setting, mine were rusted solid!

  20. mine was awful on the old vr, but the highline one works well
  21. yeah camber setting and 4 wheel alignment will sort this problem
  22. my first car was a rotten nova 1.2 A reg in faded mars red given to me by my sister, got it to 110 downhill on the m1 tho then it started shaking !amazed . i sold it to a garage in watford, 2 weeks later i got a call from the police asking if i still owned it, it had been used in a number of armed robery's in hertfordshire! then i bought a mk2 8v gti in gun metal grey with 240,000 on the clock for a painting i did,it ate oil but went like shit off a shoval.proberbly more fun to drive than the highline i have now, it eventually went to the scrapyard with 262,000 on the orriginal engine!
  23. hi all, is there any need to have the car re-tuned after fitting a bmc with cold air feed and magnecor leads ?
  24. i have found they are not overly warm, my passenger one is better, but they should be 'warm' in about 5-10 mins
