  1. that's one of the (few !) advantages of getting older .... sensible insurance ! yep the R32 is pretty awesome and pretty underated still ... however me good trusty VR6 is an excellent car and now it's debadged (since on me drive now) even more fun when that silly man in an A3 / Golf TDi / 1.8T wants a 10 year old golf to move out of his way !!! (if you know what i mean !)
  2. heah the vr6 is still a great car ! hence me not selling it ! the R32 is a totally different car so won't compare the two ! when the last meet was held at the peacock went to look at the vw 'stealers' up the road and the salesman become a pain in the ass calling me all the time saying he had found 'the right' R32 for me ... ended up buying one from a VW dealer near brighton (miles away) as it had everything i wanted ... decent bunch of people in the north area .... hope Pete organises one !! cheers !
  3. pete ... if your doing a meet on the 5th that would be great at the old peacock ... enjoyed my last visit and it was great for spanky to bring the geniscan thing along (which i've now bought one and its worth its weight in gold) ... trouble is what car do i bring ? der r32 or der vr6 ? only jesting !
  4. has the 1st one affected your brakes ? yep will clear the codes have a drive and see if they come back ! cheers !
  5. well i suppose it serves me right - you get an R32 and then the VR starts playing up !! have bought an aftermarket code reader (Geniscan) for obd2 vw/audi and it's kicked out 2 fault codes ! any help on what these actually mean would be great and any corrective action needed would be gratefully received ! 1. had a long drive in the torrential rain in it yesterday and the ABS light came on - today it's not come on though the code reader says "ABS hydraulic pump - v64" - is this just a case of clearing the code as brakes seem fine ? 2. "idle air control regulation" - any ideas - again was except
  6. got a vr6 highline .. bought as a tradein at vw 3 years ago ... was 1 owner and fvwsh .... fantastic car and once the eibachs and konis were fitted it handled a dream ... always wanted one since they came out as fast, rare and deceptive to those who dont know what they are (another old golf !) ... run a mk2 8v as a daily driver and on the look out for an R32 now .. but vr6 wont be sold .... 2 good a car !
  7. std vr6 vs. a civic type r ? not much in it i'd say but to me that's not the point .... it's gr8 being in a much older car and not that many modern high revving jap crap cars being able to beat it ! thats the fun ! by the way ... rx8's are mince meat as nowt past 130 !
  8. just found it amusing a guy had all the bodykit look-a-like stuff ... yet had a 1.8 in it .... i found it amusing anyway ....
  9. ... this is a classic .... check out the engine bay !!!! ebay item .... 250031004438
  10. yep enjoyed meeting up again ! well worth popping up for and glad me coolant didn't cause any aggro for me ! even if trade up to a newer blue one with that 4 wheel drive stuff have decided to keep the vr - still drives like a dream and they still look great to me ! having the fault codes read was excellent so thanks for that - off to ebay in a mo to see if i can get one myself ! thanks to mike for polishing me car - the white stuff was polish ... honest ! catch you all in the new show year - cheers - Adrian.
  11. good to see you all again - even if get a newer will still keep the vr !!
  12. thanks for all your help - a new expansion tank cap costing £ 6 from VW sorted it - at the dealers i was surprised they had one in stock though the vw bloke told me its a common problem so have loads in !!! cheers
  13. hi - noticed that the coolant has come out of the expansion tank n left a few crystalline deposits (not too much) - my 1st thought was the thermostat so started her up from cold n allowed engine to warm and after a few minutes all the coolant pipes were hot so dont think thermostat is iffy. temp gauge on dashboard still stays in the middle so should i be concerned about this ? have i missed summat obvious ? cheers
  14. still hope to make it - see my other thread bout me vr6 overheating !!!!
  15. i had my vr last serviced at c and r enterprises (in nottingham) when it had done about 73k - i asked about the timing chain and the reply was simple ... if its making a loud noise get it looked at !!!
  16. daft question but what time at elland road !!!!! cheers - Adrian.
  17. yes it was a multi sided socket ! tonight i'll try the size 16 (not female !) one to see if it can hammer it on ..... it just annoys me so much that these garages overtighten the bolts ... or maybe its me being a southern wimp softie ??!!!???
  18. i should be able to pop along for a bit .. as long as you guys dont mind a standardish highline in the ranks !!
  19. had 2 new tyres fitted to the vr and guess what ? came back over torqued and as a result i have rounded off one of the wheelbolts hence cant get the wheel off ... it's booked into a garage on monday to sort it though any ideas how i can get this out myself with limited tools ? the alloys are the original solitudes thus the bolt is pretty well regressed into the wheel so not easy to access !!! any help appreciated (whats really pissed me off is the fact that its the rear wheel that's stuck even tho' it was 2 new front tyres i had done - why do they insist on doing more than you ask them to !!!)
  20. eibachs n koni's completely transform the handling of a vr6 ... im pretty sure this is the best set up ...... not the cheapest but make the car stick to the road ...
  21. badly scored one of my disc's last weekend and got 2 genuine vw disc replacments n pads too ... having great difficulty removing the screw keeping the old disc attached to the hub ...have tried soaking in wd40 and '3 in 1' but no joy .... dont want to fook the screw head up ... any sensible ideas ???? if not sorted cant go to e38 as will have 2 take to garage !!! cheers
  22. enjoyed meeting some new faces ... really good event ... shame the beer (cloudy) was £ 3.50 a pint !!!! see you at E38
  23. saturday only please was great last year !
  24. r32 is a great car and maybe looking soon to buy one soon though before i do will need to satisfy my self it really is worth the premium over a v6 4motion !! the vr6 is a classic in it's own right as one of the few cars i know named after its engine which says it all ! will never sell it !
