  1. Once you get the caliper and disc off, you will be able to hammer it out from the wheel side. Just make sure clean up all the bits that have broke off. Good luck with it all.
  2. Not feeling that at all, i'm glad you've changed your mind about it.
  3. Just moved your post and resized your pictures.
  4. Hi, Well the price of cars have dropped quite dramatically, so its a buyers market. You should be able to pick up decent enough VR6 for that sort of money. There are only two models in the VR6 range, and thats the VR6 and VR6 Highline. As for the millage figures, i think i get around 250 -280 around town on a full tank. But never really sat and worked it out, as its smiles per miles for me. Good luck with the find, and welcome to the forum
  5. I would put the hesitant and poor running down to the temp senor. As for the oil use, how many miles have you done since you last checked. The Vr's do tend to use a fair amount of oil. I think the book says '1 litre for every 1000miles'
  6. first thing i would do, is sort out the ride height. If its stock, then the wheels.
  7. So when you turn the key nothing happens apart from the lights on the dashboard coming on, and if you try it couple of times it kicks in to life. Is that right? If it is, i would have a look at the earth strap on the starter motor first. They have a tendency to get week and break.
  8. I have these light, there is only one bulb per ring. It will make it a lot easier if you took the headlights off the car and did it on a desk. As it can be quite fiddly, and it depends how big your hands are. As for the bulb type Kev, can't quite remember, but i will have a look through my invoices later on.
  9. Got any links Jim with company's you've dealt with or know of.
  10. Thats sounds like a right bummer, Taz. Haven't you just the head gasket replaced, might be a better option to go for the metal type of gasket. Is the garage that you took it to going to do the work for free then.
  11. Driving home yesterday evening, it got me thinking. Would you mount the kerb, to let one of the 999 services get past. Especially if you had some nice rims on the motor. Well would you?
  12. After watching Top Gear, on last Sunday it got me thinking. Do you guys think it would make a lot of difference to have the injectors cleaned or replaced for new items. As it looks like something fairly easy to do, but wanted know if it would be worth it. Not having any problems with the car, just thought it would be nice little service to carry out. Like cleaning the TB.
  13. Hi Taz, Can't help you really with above problems, but can you PM where you had the Head done and how much it set you back. Thanks Sanky
  14. Hi, First of all can you resize your signature picture, as its too large. Rule 4: Picture sizes Please make sure all signatures are no larger than 500 x 150 pixels and that any other images posted in the forum are no bigger than 400 x 400. Please make sure all avatar images are no bigger than 100 x 120. Not everyone has a fast connection, so consider resizing your images to capture a wider audience. If an image puts the forum out of spec (horizontal scroll bars, etc) then the link to the image will be deleted. If you are having problems resizing or hosting an image, please contact a member of
  15. Try the relays first, and if you want, you can swap the seats over just to check the wiring to the seat is okay. After that i would put it down to the element. You could repair this yourself, but you will need to take the leather cover off and all that. There is guide on net, I'll try and dig it for you. It all comes down to how confident you are and how much spare time you have, and if you can be without a car while your fixing it.
  16. Both relays are the same. The relay should only click for the seat that you have turned on.
  17. I had the rear glass repaired on my old MK3 GTI looked fine to me. You should take it back if your not happy with it. Try posting some pictures of it, as people might be able to advise you better.
  18. No. The relay is located under the seat, when you turn the dial for the heat you should be able to hear a click if your in quiet place. But it most probably will be the element in the seat that is broken.
  19. Your probably best just getting them for the dealers, as for the bearing i thought they were all separate for the VR
  20. Or you could fix for pennys, and gain knowledge in the process
  21. Try this link http://www.pocketrocket.ca/mk3_window_regulator.html It worked for me for about 6 months, but the the connector fell out. So i shaped a peice of aluminum and tapped it down with some M3 screws. Seems to have lasted over a year now.
