  1. Do you guys think it would be a problem later on if the seals were only done with the haed in situ. The dealers can't recondition the head themselves, they have to send it off to an engineering firm to have it done. Im just not sure what to do with it, as i do trust the dealers as all the work would be guranteed. And i know places like Stealth would give a gurantee aswell but it just ends to far to take it there again if it did end up with another problem. And at least with dealers you can just slap you keys down and refuse to take the car back and kick up a bit of fuss with them to make sur
  2. One of the reason they cheaper is they're not taking the head off to do the seals, they'll be using compressed air to lift the valves up or something. And also i know the manager so i get a quite a good rate.
  3. If you have read some of my recent post I was complaining about having blue smoke on the over run. It's not happening all the time but it's doing it enough to wind me up, and I find it quite embarrassing when you floor it a puff smoke is left behind. So I've had some quotes but not exactly sure which route to take. Bearing in mind that car has full dealer service history, and also they have done the chains and clutch as well. Here are some of the quotes. Garage 1 £150-£200 to recondition the head with valve stem seals £100 for new tappets £250 for labour Total £550 Garage 2 £700-
  4. It sounds like the cahins but could also be the thrust bearin in the gearbox. Have somebody press the clutch pedal while the engine is running and have a listen. But to be honnest i wouldn't worry about it until it's noisey as the sound in the guides on this forum.
  5. I've got the lead and the software but only for the 16pin OBD 2 connector. If you want to buy lead in the second link to try on my set-up you more then welcome
  6. How far is the Phirm from you, I'm sure they down your neck of the woods. I'm also moving your post to the Chat section as you might get a better response
  7. Did you have the rest of the car buffed as well? If not it might be that the car needs going over with some cutting compound to remove the dead paint off the panels that haven't been painted. Sort of like an ex foliation like the ladies do. Meg's 3 stage won't touch it, if your gone be doing it by hand try some G3. Have you got a Porter Cable by any chance or no some local to you that has?
  8. Not sure about the gear knob, but try doing a search I'm sure its been mentioned before. If you want to bring the interior up to date a little you fit the chrome door pulls, and maybe change the colour of the lights for the switched to red like the MK4.
  9. I was just going to ask if it had been detailed? Looks a spot on job and the car looks good too.
  10. Congratulations to you both and good luck
  11. On some Mk3 the rear axle tends to stick the wheel out more on one side. Was reading about this on the E38 forum seems to be quite comman to some Mk3's.
  12. Sorry to hear that Martin, I thought stealing radios were a thing of the past these days. Just goes to show the low life scum are still out there.
  13. They not badly price either, keep us posted o how you get on.
  14. They're quite nice, if you look at the seat ones you can get an idea of how they would look.
  15. Moved your post and sorted out your pictures.
  16. There might be a group buy starting have a look in the market section
  17. Moved your thread as it's not a tunning issue.
  18. Some good results there seems like a fun day out. Are those e figures at flywheel or at the wheel?
  19. Thats same question i asked a while back on the E38 forum, will be good to see what sort of feed back we get form here. Looks like me and Silko are in same dilemma *-)
  20. Empty the tables and start again. I think would be best.
  21. Not sure what your getting at here? But the clay is only used to remove contaminations from the paint, it then should be gone over with polish to put essentials oils back into the paint and sealant to keep it there, and maybe wax to give it extra luster.
  22. Depending on how good you are at soldering you could just replace the damaged bit wire, and do sort of bodge repair. But if your like me it would keep bothering me that it wasn't done right and i would have replace the whole sensor at some point.
