Car hesitating + throttle angle reading problem
SankysVR6 replied to Smuggler's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
The car did smell like it was over fueling, but it seem drive OK. But when the engine was idling the revs would be up and down and on the odd occasion it would cut out. I got an exchange MAF form the dealers, looked like a new to me though. -
Car hesitating + throttle angle reading problem
SankysVR6 replied to Smuggler's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
I would try a MAF out of a working car, or at least try and get hold of new one to try out. Because the fault symptons deffinatley sound like what i had, and that was MAF. -

Have you cleared the faults once the second MAF was fitted. -
It's not the big of job, It' just a case of running the cable from the stereo as to the back, as you would do with speaker cables. Then case running the cable up the C pillar and to the roof. If you open the hatch theres a plastic piece that runs along the roof, this just clips off. Then carefully pull the roof lining down only enough to get a spanner in to undo the nut on the bee sting. And attach a the new cable and tighten up. I haven't replaced the whole cable, but i have replaced the seal at the bottom of the roof aerial.

You won't find quality products like P21s from Halfords, have look on ebay, or the link above. As for drying i would get some Euro Waffle weave towel. From elite car care. And for a drying technique, Take the end of the hose so it's open ended and turn the tap down about half way, then chase the water off with hose. This works particularly well when the has had good layer of wax to it. Then simply place the towel on the panel where the water is still present and pat it down and lift off and move on to the next section.

I do want them, and i know it's not a bargain or anything, more of a case if you want something really bad you'll pay for it at all costs. I did try to bargain with for £150 but he wasn't having it.

I've been offered some front only heated black colour concepts seats for the sum of £200 plus my old front seats. Do you think this is worth it or am I being ripped off, as I've always wanted these front seats but I don't want to pay over the odds for them? Thanks

As for claying, i would start off with something mild as Megs. Quick Clay, It comes with it's own lube, which is basically a detailing spray, this is available from Halfords if you want it quick.. You can touch up the chips, and let them dry overnight and then rub them down with G3 cutting compound if doing it by hand just spray plenty of water on the panel as it keeps it cool, and also helps with cut. As for polishing it all depends what you want the end result to be like. If it's your first time with all this then try using the Megs 3 step system. You might want to change the 3rd step for a

Thanks Justin, Washing with 2 buckets, is a better method then the traditional 1 bucket as was used back in my parents days, because it works. Basically you start off with 2 buckets and 2 wash mitts. 1 bucket has the shampoo of your choice and the other bucket is clean water for rinsing. 1 mitt for the top half of the car and 1 mitt for the bottom half of your car. You then start with the top of the car place mitt in the shampoo mix and wash half the roof, then rinse the mitt in the clean water and ring out excess water. Then back in the shampoo mix and do the other half of the roof, and rins

SankysVR6 replied to H13VYY's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering

You can't buy the plastic bits from VW i think you have to buy the whole mechanism. I had the same problem, but i used this guide to Fix mine and it's still working. http://www.pocketrocket.ca/mk3_window_regulator.html

I would start by clearing all the codes and scan again in 2 days time to see what comes still. If this fault still comes back 00553 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70) 31-10 - Open or Short to Ground - Intermittent Then it's going to be more then likely to be AFM. I've just had similar problem with mine. Where the revs started to go up and down while idling. Vagcom came up with the above fault. Changed it and all seems to be fine.

^^^^^ I get that a lot, how much did it cost to have them chromed. I use to try an explain to them that they are polished. But now i just give up and nod my head with agreement.

Got a bit of weird problem with car at the moment that I could do with some help. When the cars idling the revs seem to be going up down, but not above 1000rpm. The exhaust fumes also seem to smell of petrol, quite rich. And the engine cut out once when it was idling. Scanned it on the VAGCOM and came up with these faults Monday, 11 February 2008, 16:53:15 VAG-COM Version: Release 409.1-S Control Module Part Number: 021 906 256 Component and/or Version: MOTRONIC M3.8.1 HS V04 Software Coding: 00000 Work Shop Code: WSC 01317 4 Faults Found: 00281 - Vehicle Speed Sensor (G68) 03-00 - No Sign
