  3. cheers dude, mine are pretty straight in that case apart from the petrol one as i had it lined up with the white line so better drop it a lil bit. are the clocks forward in your car? shows 11.45 and you posted on here at 11.40pm lol just being cheeky - thanks again... thanks for the help!!!
  4. hey guys, anyone got a proper shot of the needles at rest (car turned off) and the car at idle? cheers, i seem to have messed me needles up again
  5. i had a feud with a c230 kompressor mercedes, he tried to terrorise me in the fast lane of M1 so i let him go past then did the same to him, only to find he couldnt pull away from me and when he moved into the middle lane again, i absolutely bolted past him. i was very suprised as my car is standard except cat back system and induction of course.... not getting involved is much better as that pees them off even more!!
  6. ok all done and the car is back, all in cost 200 pounds, 120 for the pump and 80 for the bearings (inner and outer) no more droning noise wooohoooo!!!!
  7. well, the majority of us have lowered hard rides, if that was the case surely they would bust almost every day, yes they are sensitive but id say only if you touch the parts ur not supposed to. otherwise they have moderate life expectancy - then again i may be wrong....
  8. magnecor are the way forward, 10 year guarantee!
  9. sorry for the silly question guys/gals, i need to know if this donwpipe from a mk3 golf VR6 L reg will fit my VR highline which is an R reg? i just dont recall seeing two ends sticking out at the top half. cheers guys
  10. ok... looks like he may be pulling a fast one, il call him tomorrow and ask why he is charging me so much for it.

  13. the mechanic didnt say its the seal, he said the water pump is leaking and needs to be replaced (i did notice a noise in the engine for the past few weeks)
  14. hey guys, the car has gone in ONCE AGAIN for more attention.... this time the water pump is leaking, temp switch needs replacing and both the rear wheel bearings need replacing (so iv been told) i have been quoted 280 pounds all inclusive to get this done, this is by an independant vw specialist does the price sound right? 160 = water pump supply and fitted 45 = rear bearing supply and fit (90 pounds for both) 20 = replace temp switch as needle is tempermental. i have told him to do this as i need the car for motorway trip this weekend. hope i aint gettin done over thats all... cheers :^)
  15. hi mate, you can buy silver indicator bulbs that flash orange. quite pricey but worth the overall look
  16. thanks mate, i had a play with it today and when i unplugged/plugged the clip just mentioned by you, the needle came back to life.. looks like it just sorted itself thanks
  17. could well be the leads, i had a faulty lead (just one) and high speeds the cars acceleration was insulting, had a new set put in and voila. pop the hood at night, try listen out for an intermittent ticking sound or look out for a blue spark coming from near the spark plugs/leads and see if there are any clues
  18. hey guys/gals, i just got into the VR yesterday after a few days and after a 20 minute local journey i noticed the temp needle had not come up at all. a further ten minutes of casual driving did not help either. so basically my temperature needle is not working at all at the moment, any ideas? :?
  19. i have a powerflow exhaust and i am SUFFERING from the same issues lol, i hear you man! i want a standard set up too but its proving impossible at the moment as whoever fitted the exhaust for the previous owner has botched everything up so cannot change the cat etc.
  20. sorry to hear that jay, what a shame, any cctv in that area that might give you an idea of what happened?
  21. a gone release bearing like i experienced hums/whines constantly... when the clutch pedal is pressed down the noise goes away but comes back as soon as the pedal is lifted again. you can do this test at standstill.
