  1. the quote of 2600 shouldnt bother you then, i tried getting insured when i got my first vr6 and i was quoted 4000 pounds at the age of 21. under 18 you are lucky someone is willing to insure on a group 16/17 car. all the best anyways.
  2. >>>> reaches for the tissue lol
  3. i think i prefer the murcielago better
  4. as far as i am aware, the biggest sign of head gasket is white smoke from exhaust, losing water/oil. condensation on oil cap is quite normal and even worse on mk4 golfs, however..... if the dipstick has murky sludge at the end of it then this could mean headgasket as the dipstick takes the sample of the oil from where its counts most.
  5. right engines finally arrived with the gearbox, looks clean and no signs of oil being leaked etc, for some reason though my mechanic has turned sour on me, he was really pi$$ed off today and indirectly hinted to me that he cant work with people standing over his head etc, anyways: my engine is out now and one of the workers are just switching some bits over after giving them a good clean i.e. coil pack etc as the new one did not come with it.... slowly but surely its getting there and ill go check up one last time tomorrow before leaving him to it.
  6. the number plate on my car is smaller overall at the front, looks cool but not been pulled yet (touch wood >> clonks head)
  7. you can ask the dealer why they did not report on the water leaking etc.
  8. hahaha - good laugh - nice one
  9. very tidy looking motor - nice one!
  10. yeh , upto now i used 10/40 but iv been led to believe 5/40 has less hesitation in engine movement
  11. it might be an exchange engine so let me get it all fitted then i will place in parts for sale once done. cheers
  12. fingers crossed eh? to think what i could have done with 1000+ in mods >>>drool, but then life is full of if's/buts/could'd lol
  13. hi, my mechanic told me that the best oil to use in the VR6 is 5/40 - is this correct? i know this topic might have been discussed before but i am just looking for a quick answer (not long winded debate we like getting into lol) i ask this as my new engine is being delivered and i will have to service it straight away. i have halfords vw502.00 approved oil at home 5/40. many thanks
  14. ok.... just ordered an engine and gearbox for urgent delivery to the garage, found a good un from a 1998 VR6, 69K FSH. 3 months warranty etc for a whopping 850 inc VAT and delivery. cant wait to get the car back on the road - it owes me some serious driving pleasure!!!
  15. lol, dont that take in hot air?
  16. BMC is the best, i now have a K&N induction on my new highline which sounds good but not as good as the BMC - with the BMC if you leave your normal air duct feeding cold air to the bmc slightly loose it makes the most amazing growling noise - really deep and mean!! if you connec the air feed tightly then you notice a subtle tone at around 4000 revs plus otherwise you cant really hear too much. feels more responsive overall
  17. as far as i am aware you would need longer bolts to go through the spacer. also hubcentric spacers are the best as they act as a hub rather then a spacer which means fits more securely. only negative is that the wheels could rub on the arch lip if they have not been rolled. hope this helps
  18. what bus route fabio?
