  1. hey guys, i showed my mechanic properly this morning and it appears that the susp parts are all standard from new bar the lowering springs, he states that the only thing damaged really is the driver side mount bearing and the other stuff would have had to be changed for my safety/peace of mind. id love to claim off the council but then i have to find VAT registered garages etc and my guy is really good but wont write out invoices etc..... peace of mind will have to rule on this one i guess. and im keeping the car this time so rather now then later...
  2. u like the wheels? i was gona sell em and get something else.
  3. well... there is a pot hole big enough to fit your foot in to in another street close by, it is not lit well enough to notice and there is no sign to state its presence. if i did drive into it im sure it would cause damage but not to all four sides, just the front and back drivers side id say. the one in question will be repaired by now, that was well lit and when i went back to take pics had 'ramp' signs 10 meters away (not that it helps) but i guess the council have covered their backs
  4. some sort of breather pipe? fuel return pipe? im jus guessing sorry
  5. hey guys, My VR6 moments lol from this:(i miss this car ) then to this: and a V5 mk4 later this!! my new highline: its a 1997 R reg with the visual mods and full D-Cat powerflow exhaust. Im glad to be back and LOVE IT!!!
  6. I was driving along the dual carriageway and all of a sudden felt a hard thump at the wheels, i looked in the mirror and saw there was a ditch across the road, almost like a right angle where a layer of the road had been removed for roadworks. My car now drives pulling to the left and there are nasty clonkling noises coming from all corners. took it to get a check and the front bearings are broken, the rear shocks are squeeking as well. Just went Euro car parts and bought: Bilstein Shocks (gas x 4) Top mounts and bearings front and rear ball joints anti roll bar links cost a hole burning 22
  7. i guess the exhaust will have to wait, got a few other probs, (clutch bearing and suspension)
  8. absolutely perfect!! one thing always gets me though, when you click on a thread it looks blank and i stare for a few seconds before realising i gota scroll quite further down to see the posts.
  9. which one have you got? i have a powerflow one with the upsweep oval box.
  10. hey guys, i have a powerflow D-Cat straight through stainless steel exhaust at the moment. Sounds awesome but it is serving a bit too loud at the moment. 1) will putting the CAT back on make the tone a bit more silent? 2) what is the best set up to have? i.e. cat back or just back box?? cheers guys.
  11. there is also this one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4597180728&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 so i think i will have to go on a vote now, 1) Full main dealer one - totally standard 2) Modified one - 7 owners mostly VW history 3) 5 door looked after and part VW part local service
  12. is 7 owners really bad? or should i just go for the safe bet and get the 1 prev owner and slowly mod it??
  13. thanks again guys and just to be slapped by a wet fish what about a modified highline that has 7 owners yes 7!! 18" alloys, SS exhaust, angel eyes, 97 R reg, mulberry, 81K miles FVW upto 63K then one local garage and now due a service and asking 3500 for it looking mint! do i need to be slapped with a wet fish or is this ok??? thanks
  14. iv done it, finally got my VR6 highline in mulberry already has: 17" Santa Monica alloys / Lowered Full stainless Steel De-Cat Exhaust K&N Induction Kit and more subtle mods to follow. sounds awesome and is my fastest VR yet!!!! yipeeee - will now become premium member!!! !lol

  16. thanks guys, i now have the printout of the engine bays to compare, i deffo want to go for a P plate and OBD2 engine this time - and not dragon green lol as i have had 2 already. what would you guys say an acceptable mileage is for buying a VR to mod? cheers
  17. lol everyone seems to be asking that, it was sluggish a and disconnected drive - overall the mk4 is tackier then the mk3 golf which still looks amazing (not like a company car) and gets more respect on the road!!
  18. hi guys, i am coming back to the VR6 scene after selling my V5, although i have owned both types of engines - i need to know how to tell if an engine is OBD1 or OBD2 i.e. obvious signs apart from the oval indicators on the wings. i basically need a dummies guide to this as owners are not aware of the difference there is a 95 N reg car i am interested in but the owner cannot tell me which it is and i have not yet been to see it (i only want an OBD2 engine and believe it can come in 95 N reg as well) thanks guys much appreciated - cant wait to be back.
  19. if you lift the boot carpet, there is a black circle with 2/3 screws in it, remove this and you will see the top of the fuel pump with pipes feeding into it, the jubilee type clip on these can loose tension and cause a leak here, i replaced mine with screw type jubilee clip. try it = wont hurt
  20. ignition switch?? is the radio effected in any way?
  21. i regret selling my VR6 too, i modded it nice and subtle then sold it to pay off debts (wise choice at the time), then i bought a mk4 gti - got bored within a few months so sold it at no loss, then got a mk4 turbo and got fed up of balancing the accelerator on the shite drive (no such thing as smooth cruising), then bought another VR6 M reg which was no way comparable to my late 95N reg in terms of drive and response ohh and the noise of the BMC growling >>>droooolllll, then i sold the M reg vr6 as i never liked it to start with compared to my N reg one, and now i have a W reg V5 gol

  23. hey guys, if there is someone out here looking for a VR6 my old one has just appeared in auto trader being sold by a trader for £4000, i cant believe it!!! as much as i loved it and want to buy it back im going to have to be sensible and not even think about it, so i thought id let you all know: the car cost me £7000 in total: it had flared arches RS4 alloys debadged grill mk4 headlights fully colour coded (spoiler/door handles etc) adjustable coilovers tv/dvd (screen mounted in centre console) 71K miles with full history BMC CDA filter (droooooooooooooooooooooooooooool) wish i never sold it
