  1. what was wrong with the old oil cooler?
  2. sounds like the cables need adjusting
  3. They're talking crap. I've seen vr6s at rolling road days with knackered cam sensors lose 20 odd bhp.
  4. You can buy new bearings for the tensioner for a couple of quid. Details on the corrado forum.
  5. Sounds like valvee stem seal needs replacing or possibly bore wear at a guess.
  6. Possibly a leak from the pcv valve. Check the hose from the crankcsse breather to the intake boot for splits.
  7. sounds like the crank position sensor
  8. The s/c is centrifugal and doesn't shift much air a low revs but the boost increases quite dramatically after 3000 rpm. I think other chargers such as the g lader and eaton flow better at low revs but don't flow as much air as centrifugal chargers at high revs. My experience is with the stage 1 (6-7 psi) kit but I suppose a smaller pulley would improve low down power but probably not significantly. Superchargers don't suffer from lag but you still have to wait for the engine to spin the charger enough to produce a certain amount of boost so I guess it is similar to turbo lag.
  9. The power produced by the charger is quite progressive and there is little or no difference from a standard vr6 until about 3000 rpm when the charger starts boosting. The top end power is very good. A turbo will always give you more mid range thump than a charger. Otherwise you might be interested in a schrick manifold which gives the car some nice lo- mid range power. I'd say the schrick is the best mod to improve drivability and forced induction if you really enjoy thrashing the car. Depends what kind of driving you do.
  10. the hydraulic lifters? These get noisy at around the 100k mark. Your chains sound ok if the top tensioner is only slightly worn . The bottom tensioner barely wears at all. Cases of the chains snapping is very rare.
  11. zimmermans are crap. standard vw items are superior
  12. Corrado vr6 Bora tdi Polo 16v Golf mrk1
  13. or a peter russek vr6 manual also available on ebay.
  14. gold causes leaks too so go with silver as suggested.
  15. the gearbox should bolt on no probs. Is your car obd1 or 2?
  16. Power is v. similar to standard up to 3k then it builds strongly towards the redline. The delivery is the v smooth like standard if it's set up properly (with the maf upstream of the charger). Mpg is not too bad and 30 is achievable on motorway journeys.
  17. If the speed sensor was knackered the car wouldn't even start. I'd change the cam sensor first and see if it improves.
  18. Go to www.the-corrado.net and there's a buyers guide and a whole heap of knowledge about every aspect of the Corrado.
  19. have you changed any engine mounts recently?
