  1. I'm not a regular trackday driver but I've done some pretty hard laps of the nurburgring and the car and charger withstood the punishment as it has done for the last 30k miles the charger has been on the car. No reliability issues but I don't thrash my car all the time and try to be sympathetic to the mechanical bits. The charger can take it all day long but the engine is the possible weakpoint. Having said that a standard engine which is constantly thrashed also potentially has a shorter lifespan.
  2. Agree with nickbee you don't have to run 97 octane as the vr6 is a modern engine and has knock sensors. Personally I wouldn't bother on a standard engine.
  3. There are companies in America who can modify your inlet to 2.9 capacity for cheaper than shipping one from the UK.
  4. The drain plug is on the plastic pipe or "crack pipe" which goes from the water pump to the thermostat housing and can be unscrewed from underneath the car with a flat screwdriver.
  5. Beru should be ok as they are an OE manufacturer. The original coilpack says Beru on the front and telefunken on the top. Beru coilpacks are £115 + vat from GSF.
  6. Agree with Andy. It's strange how two very similar cars can feel so different. The corrado is a great all round package. [ Edited Mon Mar 21 2005, 12:14AM ]
  7. if the thread on the cylinder head is knackered I think it can be helicoiled but the head might have to come off.
  8. If you think getting the out is hard you should try putting them back in as that's a PITA as well.
  9. Could be the abs ecu. I'm not sure tbh but vag-com would tell you.
  10. Clean the abs sensors. Check for abs fault codes. Or remove the bulb
  11. You can buy a smaller pulley (9 psi) for the Z but you'll blow the thing up if you go beyond 10. The vortech will handle twice that no problem.
  12. Returned! I'd put a value of £1000-1200 depending on whether it comes with a chip i.e. is a complete kit.
  13. NS should know as one of there demo cars was a supercharged VR6 syncro.
  14. Sounds like it could be the maf actually. I'd get the fault codes checked first before proceeding.
  15. silverline-Yes that is correct. The coilpack is not monitored by the ecu so won't show a fault code. If your local garage has bosch diagnostics go for it as it should reveal if there are any sensors not functioning. MSV83- Yep, a faulty maf does indeed cause stuttering/misfiring but only diagnostics would confirm this.
  16. I'm not sure it will work without rechipping the ecu and removing the built in immobiliser but others may know better......
  17. I would change the plugs anyway if they haven't been done for a while. Have you plugged into vag-com diagnostics to check thet your sensors are functioning properly? Misfires on vr6s can be caused by a number of things.
  18. Could be the cam sensor too but check for arcing first using a fine water spray.
  19. I've got some odd lengths of samco if you need some in blue and black which I was using on my Z-kit. Might have enough to go from the breather to a catchcan if your interested? If so tell me the minimum measurement you need.
  20. Crankcase actually but you've answered the question anyway . I've got the same arrangement. The other way is to plumb the pipe into the intake (pre-charger) where yours is blanked off and fit a catch can inbetween. [ Edited Thu Mar 03 2005, 03:43PM ]
  21. binliner - where does your cc breather pipe go to? I can see it doesn't go into the intake.
  22. The inlet size is 80mm so you'd need 2 x 90 deg. 80mm elbows and 1 x 80mm - (whatever the outlet size is) reducer- possibly a 45 deg. elbow. Then you would have to drill a hole in each 90 elbow and insert a straight 90 deg. plastic connector for the crankcase breather and 90 deg. plastic connector for the isv. (I've done this before using silicone sealer and it worked fine) [ Edited Thu Mar 03 2005, 12:24PM ]
