    VR6 Sales

Its just as well Claire yer car is shown as "Going Like the wind" on the bottom photo... were you afraid that someone would pull you up for not including Passats/Sharans & Caravelles (Like Me!!! ) Why were they not included , afterall the badge at the back (Well, not on mine..) says VR6.. SO WHERE ARE THEY GAL??? ~
  2. Just came back from the stealers with an MOT pass Yippeeee! Considering I didn't have time to check it over... Usually I have a Looksee before going in but this time I didn't stand a chance as I'm away all next week.... Booooo! Still, Legal for another year... but the sad news is that I'm thinking on selling up and moving on... The car has a new legal 12 months and 6 months tax, and runs a peach now.... Any body interested?? There are only 53 Estates in the country and only two in Scotland, I'm one of them...
  3. A couple of questions... Does it happen under load i.e in gear? Or can it be replicated stationary? If the second, try putting a long screwdriver to where you think the sound comes from and put your ear to the end of the screwdriver and listen ... Then tell us what you find..
  4. Doh! Obviously Alzheimers at 30.. Tis' a sad day.. read the post again.. it says "Birthday Snogs" what do you generally get at birthdays from a female (or give a female)? a Birthday kiss on their birthday and wish them all the best, hence in your case being male " a simple hand shake will suffice" i.e I'm not into kissing guys! With me now?? or did that hurt??
  5. Its a pity you're not visiting Scotland in the near future ( .. could have properly buffed it all out for nought! Have all the right tools and polishes to restore it for you.. pity really... !sad
  6. Yaaaaayyyyyy!!! Birthday "Snogs" all round !heart ... Great Claire have a Good Un' .... Oh! and Jezmoz ...your alright, don't need to go that far, a simple handshake will suffice
  7. Exactly!!! Loctites an amazing thing..
  8. Unfortunately matey ...the bad news... the window problem is the control unit on the regulator thats US. The only fix that I'm aware of is a whole new regulator @ £170+ . mine did exactly the same when I got it and that was the only fix I could get as Passat regulators on the driverside are like Rockin' horse doo doo!! !grr !sad !sad As for the CD thing, check your connections at the back of the head unit, in particular the live connection, mine also did this although not related, however I can't remember how I fixed this...it was sometime ago... !sad
  9. What do you mean "has gone quite stiff" ? Difficult to engage, clutch is heavy, gear selector stiff or what.. can we have a little more detail please?
  10. If you order a set of hoses, do you get a matching colour co-ordinated sticker (thats on the back lead rail) as well??
  11. I'm impressed big boy!! Holding the camera with what, AND having two women over the desk at the same time... Feckin' amazin!! Oustanding Lee...
  12. Whats That on your nose Nikki?? Looks awful..... 8)
  13. 91k and not out....just had some TLC on it recently though and now the wallets screaming at me....Aaarrrrgghhh!!! !amazed
  14. Do the routine test, spray the coil pack lightly with water to see if the coil pack is cracked, the misfire will appear...once done you could always dry the coil pack outwith a strong heat, spray liberally in WD40 then coat in Silicone Grease or epoxy resin... RE: The backfire could also be the lambda probe failed or a choked Cat..The lamda probe would cause the car to overfuel hence rich, hence backfire...
  15. Give this a go!! EYE - HAND COORDINATION TESTER ... The object of the game is to move the red block around without getting hit by the blue blocks or touching the black walls. If you can go longer than 18 seconds you are phenomenal. It's been said that the US Air Force uses this for fighter pilots. They are expected to go for at least 2 minutes. Give it a try!! http://tinyurl.com/56t9u
  16. Check the connections to the expansion bottle to make sure that its connected, that takes care of the flashing light as its a level sensor thats in the bottle, also make sure that the levels is correct and IS a nice healthy pink colour... The temp guage is likely to be the waxstat sensor in the front of the block under the inlet manifold (visible standing looking on to the engine) I would be wary of this car as it has all the indications of possibly being "cooked" a common problem with VRs, check for "mayo" in the oil, pressurised hoses, lose of coolant, excess condensation from the exhaust
  17. Check the fuses first, then go for the fan switch in the radiator, another test could also be to short the fans out by bridging the black switch that way your testing the fan motors to see that they haven't burnt out....
  18. Not necessarily.... It could be just full of road grim and IS siezed into the hub, been there done this.. it take a brave man to whack it out of the hub, best way to do this is use a press and gently push the CV joint out from the hub side...Been there done this..my car was laid up for 6 months and the Driverside CV joint had siezed into position with RUST!!! I ended up getting a new shaft, CV joint and Hub... ~ !shy
  19. A fellow Def Leppard Fan per chance in your Avatar???
  20. Errr... not having a go here ... but haven't you added a Turbo to the cramped confines of the engine bay thus making the air even hotter still?? If you think about it, the air is already hot hence the cooling pump, then you install a Turbo to the bay that takes alot longer to cool than the original setup therefore more chance of things going wrong or being baked due to excess heat in the bay?? P.S just a running tip though... leave your car running for a couple of minutes before switching off, to prolong the life of the turbo and allow it to cool.... Just one mans opinion I guess
  21. To answer the mans question.. Yes you can, not recommended though as its there to cool down the block after the engine is off, remember this is a large engine in a small space therfore a lot of trapped heat in this space after the engine is off, the pump then circulates the coolant around the block until the temperature falls back into the safe levels , less than 105 degrees C... you can bypass it but only for a short time and go easy on the horses.. make sure that theres plenty of air into the bay, what happened to me was the pump went and was bypassed by the RAC, at the same time the grill u
  22. There are 2 possibilities here: 1/ (Now I'm talking off the top of my head here..I think ) but if memory serves.. if you hold the drivers door lock on the full closed position i.e locked for 5-6 seconds you should see the the windows recalibrate themselves into position... I think that maybe all your problems.. is the safety mechanism needs reset.. try that OR 2/ It sounds also that the control unit may be broken therfore a new regulator IS required.. !sad
  23. Thats all very well, but did you change the Rotor arm as well, the two should be replaced at the same time, check the end electrode of the rotor arm and clean or replace, next in line, is try taking off all the leads, still attached to the Dizzy cap and throw them...in the oven and cook until hot, hot that is to touch only not MELT! then remove and baste with WD40 liberally, at the same time use a few F words, then reinstall and try again... What you've done here is remove the dampness in the leads and cap, the BMW 6 cylinder engines were prone to the same and this was the cure then..I've jus
