  1. I've been lookin' for a new leather steering wheel for the VR for sometime now, seen a few on Ebay over here and they fetch a fair
  2. Take the Hoses off that enter the bulkhead from the engine bay and connect the two together with jubilee clips & plastic or metal piping. This way you bypass the heater matrix, still have the car to run around in to get to a garage etc BUT NO HEATERS!!! Do this as a temp fix only until you make up your mind what you want to do...
  3. First off, A Merry Xmas to you... What you're looking at there amigo is the auxilliary water pump @
  4. I'd opt even for the easier one than that and get a compression test done asap, check for loss of water, lots of condensation off the exhaust when hot, mayo on the filler cap etc, at the moment its to early to try an diagnose without more detail, i.e was it smoking only on the over run, or smoking all the time under acceleration etc ..
  5. You could always get Vince to rectify the problem and present your "Mechanic" with the bill, and look for full or part payment as you needed the car for Xmas to get around and about etc...

    New Look...

Don't like the big gap from the top to the Forums though... Takes ages to scroll down and find, at first I thought that there was none %-6 ....until about 3 mile down that is... otherwise yeah, whatever....

Yes it is, but its a claim that YOU have to pay for and will go against you both having to pay the excess and at renewal time where your premium will rise due to the claim !grr ~

Usually, during preparation before painting, the car gets washed down in cellulose thinners to remove all traces of oil and silicone left on the body work. It MAY be worth giving the panel a wash down with the same then applying 2-3 coats GOOD Carnuba wax, then you can rest a bit easier for next time as it won't have as much effect....

    need to know

No Need to wait until then.. Get some photos on the site, tell us more about it , where did you find it? how many owners all that good stuff...
  10. This may sound funny but check your oil level , remember that if the level is low then the VR6 senses this and has an inhibitor to protect it from over revving during this, also check the oil filler cap is on correct if its slack then this will create the same sluggish feel to the engine as its not building up pressure. Nothing to do with the oil pump so don't panic there, for those who are interested.. slacken the cap slightly and see what happens, again the engine will feel slightly retarded due to the loss of pressure.. retighten and all will return to normal...
  11. How do you figure?? CV joints **Click** not whine. Whine is more like a bearing, although it would be more of a drone as opposed a whine, seeing as its a press type bearing and not taper row... To Test a CV joint is to put the car into a figure 8 and listen if it clicks then you know its a CV joint, if however there is no clickin' then I'd say is more liable to be a bearing....
  12. No worries... I've known mine for around the same time and theres DEFINITELY some jobs I wouldn't let him near...tuning being one of them... !dodge
  13. Yep that is correct and an oil and filter change at that time....
  14. Sorry won't try and help you again.. Take a look at what your spending on "Joe Blogs Back Street Boy".. looks like hes doin' a fine job on your wheels...Crack on my friend Crack on.... and remember to build one of these engines "Properly" is approx
  15. Nasty thought here mate... was the head skimmed at all??... just wondering if the head has been over skimmed, this would give a reading of good to too much compression on the cylinders and cause the oil to be blown out the engine....but then IMHO it would be smoking all the time not just intermittent... Other thought is buy a 3.2 TSR bottom end ..that would solve the problem now... would it not? at least then the bottom end wouldn't need machined, it would be ready to be installed...
  16. How long ago jay was this done, don't forget that if its been a complete rebuild then it will take time to settle and note, nor should you be booting around until you've done say around 1000 miles or so .. it will take time to carbon back up and settle down... all the edges on all the parts are new so be aware that it will take time to bed in... !sad
  17. What likes the Dizzy Cap and arm though, are they new? have you removed them and repeated the process above... It also sounds like a temp sender has gone... like the blue one (I think) on the thermostat housing rail...has it been vag.commed recently?? just a thought...

    Fuckers

I wouldn't Lee, as It will affect your No claims Discount... Better of waiting until after Xmas and putting it in for repair and paying for it... probably in the region of

Ahhh Dragon Green kinda thing too.... I think we should have a whip round and split the paint between us You think you were hard done by, last year out pootling about in the VR, is the 31st December..Xmas Holidays and all that... I come to a T junction that I wish to turn right onto. At the junction theres a Renault Laguna waiting to pull out, its all clear for him. As I approach I slow to a halt and wait for him to come out, as its a fairly tight junction, so I've hung back a little off the junction to allow him room (Considerate person aren't I?? ) Bare in mind that I'm stationary. He pull
  21. Ahhh you guys ..to much curry me thinks, then it pops off all the time !ill .... windows open!!
  22. Oh.. Okay...anyone else wanna be in my gang? !lol
  23. How true ... or if its like mine then the starter is a little slow.. hence rattle... On starting from cold I don't move it until all the rattles die down, the engine is still cold but otherwise eased along until the oil heats up... Then... we can play, or as someone else said..."...ENGAGE.."
  24. Incidentally, mines a 1994 Passat hence how mine came out the top side of the engine bay and as jay says .. "you just gotta take your time..."
