  1. very, very sweet justin! i'm already jealous and i guess the pics dont do it justice! think i'm just going to have to sell mine and buy something new to at least be different and get away from you you little polishing devil. glad to see its clean in the pics this time!
  2. i noticed vince having a good look round the whole of your car, prob thinking, like the rest of us, nice job!!
  3. 105's huh? thats expensive not to mention a real stoopid tyre size andrew!! lmao!
  4. isv would be the first place to check with such symptoms, but some of you with the later cars wont have one! a misfire is hard to detect on a car not under load, but take it for a drive and come outta corner in a gear higher than you normally would and see how bad the stutter isd! under load it will feel much worse and lack lustre! vag-com is the only way to really tell, but even then it takes a rr test with vag-com plugged in to tell. as i found out to my cost some years back when my coil pack was faulty! then you could only get it as a stealership=only part. OUCH!!

knew we could rely on you nick! cant seem to get it to work tho!
  6. lets not be bitter about it now, its all good fun! let the chargers rain down and pour scorn on all below them next time (mainly non-vw) although i do like i good play off !
  7. if you going to be like that, i'd have beaten you all, those of you that ran your vr's. just didnt have the heart as i turned up quite late and didn't wanna steal anyones thunder! lmao, light hearted guys, dont get the daggers out yet, but wait till next time. battle of the titans begins i reckon!
  8. pics would help clive! unless anyone with an obd2 has memory of whats under the scuttle panel?
  9. a difficult choice to make rich, when there's so many similar type of rims now, and we all looking for something different!
  10. as luck would have it i'm off on a break from work for this so will try and arrange to meet the bristol lot at some mutual meeting point along the way. i'll try and drag a few of the worcester vr/cgti chaps down too! good on ya fella!
  11. bet you aint got any with mine in mark, lmao! shame somebody couldn't have taken a few rolling shots of the hunt for the pub after, that roundabout would have made for good viewing!
  12. lol ben, was tempted to run mine on the rollers, but after arriving a little late i thought it may be a little cruel! especially as mine was clean! lol. nice one mate, and some good pics simon, catch you next time!
  13. pitted is where corrosion, ie salt or acids, has eaten into the top surface of the material causing a gritty feeling to touch. can be resolves if recent by polishing with metal compounds or if more serious by using abrasive materials in differing grades along with polishing compounds , to achieve the desired effect! or save yourself the effort if too bad and get them pro-refurbed!
  14. leave the seventeens alone until you've tried some 16's! 17's look nice but i'm not convinced they offer the best handling and ride height combo, apart from simons of course! who just defies the norm! plenty advice on here, just ask, someone will know!
  15. i've always liked vento's! summat about being different and all, but a really nice example there andrew. keep up the scottish quarter!
  16. had the same trpuble when ordering some base plates for dtm mirrors for the mk.2. cant place an order over the fone using a card, but they claim to be the uk's no.1 mail order specialist! i somehow doubt this, and they made me go in and travel 7 miles to put a 10% deposit on a £10 item, amounting to £2.50! cocksuckers is all i can say, and i'm sorry mods and admin, i make no apologies for my disgust at the service and muppets involved! avoid at all costs!
  17. you can use a dremmel tool that comes with various bobs for polishing if you going to be repeating the process over and over. saves on the sore fingers and skin, especially this time of year!
  18. nice pics simon, just a shame i was late and missed you! maybe next time.
  19. after your recent selling spree i'm sure you'd have no probs off loading the charger and getting the blower put on instead you filthy little bugger! get it clean!
  20. if its a genuine sale, why has it been removed from ebay? still sounds a bit dodgy to my like there's some sort of scam involved! its the non-payment of import taxes that bothers me and why he's selling it is to avoid paying them, does that make the new keeper liable? and the other point regarding "a clear title in my hands" also has me concerned!! 21. like justin says, the dastek is a piggy back so although initial expense is high compared to "off the shelf" chips it does cut costs when more mods are added as it only requires a rr session to re-map it, not a complete new chip! i cant see how an "off the shelf" chip can work well with a vgi either tbh?
  22. why dont you take part in the group buy on coilovers by fk currently in the stages of set-up on this very site! cheapest are around the 370 mark which is superb value! dont need adjustable damping tbh unless u wanna run it really really low, (eh simon!) or like really really stiff suspension!
  23. should always run the car up to temp with the expansion tank cap off and heater set to warm to allow the coolant to circulate properly! top up as required while warming up and let the fans come on to be sure it is going to cool back down properly! it may mean emptying the system and refilling, or you can try just taking the cap off to allow the air bubbles to escape first!
