  1. well, i know that 15" solitudes fit over 288's as highlines came with them, so do gti long beach alloys (have tried one on a mates highline), and the late bbs cross spokes obviously would to. only question marks is the early cross spokes (sort of dished ones)
  2. well, to make it easier remove the coilpack (4 bolts, 6 leads, and one plug). all the allen bolts in this area of the engine are very prone to rounding...replace them with new ones from the dealer when you get them off...saves hassle later. i had the one you're talkin about round...in the end i just snapped the housing off and replaced that part of it (£20ish), then angle grinded the head off the bolt (then you can usually just remove the rest of the bolt by hand).
  3. here's some pics from my second lap... supected h/g again at first, but having got the car back today (and damaged!), it appears to be the damaged aux coolant pump. i'm very anti-cars at the mo...hence me not being around much. i'm just gonna put it in the garage for a few weeks till i've calmed down or i'll burn it.
  4. try and find out what breakers yard its going to you've actually been quite lucky...had the vr6 not been rear ended and gone up in flames it would have hurt your insurance (as you'd have had to clai of yours) where as now you get to claim of someone elses. what car hit you? newer by any chance?
  5. turns out that it probably was the wiring to the ecu as we changed hall sender and it was still kicvking up a fault code. but i have bigger probs now as i went to germany only to have what appears to be another headgasket fail on my second lap of the nurburgring. they flew me back and the car will be here within 10 days, but they can drop it in the channel for all i care right now.
  6. mine turned out to be the fact that i hadn't put the hose clip back on! oops
  7. the 312's use the 288 calipers...with 312mm carriers spacered out.
  8. actually, not the injectors probably...just plug the new engine loom onto them.
  9. manifolds, injectors, all anciliaries, engine loom...and if your obd1 is dizzy that as well.
  10. thats not a coilpack...thats a coil (for disributer models)
  11. its been diagnosed by automotive solutions...so thats deffo whats wrong.
  12. make sure they'll fit under your wheels though! lol
  13. don't worry - have found one i can borrow. but FYI its the sender by the coilpack.
  14. oh, its the sender that is right near the coilpack by the way.
  15. well, it might be that the cam sprokets have been put on the wrong way round - but that won't be checked till late this evening (big shout out to tony at automotive solutions for fitting it in at the end of his day). so, in case it is the sender...i need to source one ASAP (i.e. by tonight) - vw have them backordered...gsf dont have them. anyone got a spare? 16. if you want handling but not lowering or and loss of ride quality why not just get uprated arb's
  17. if its sticking the caliper has probably had it...buy new ones.
  18. not unless he has vag-com - you have to do something with it when bleeding obd2 cars (which i presume his is)
  19. got it...and got new leads...and its still not right. maybe it is the timing as i first thought...but its not consistent. does feel like its loosing cylinders as well.
  20. first of all you need to host your pics on a hosting site, such as photobucket.com (it explains how to do this on there) then you post the link in between {IMG} and {/IMG} - but swap the { and } for [ and ]
  21. reckon a galaxy v6 one will do? theres one local.
  22. leak turned out to be that i hadn't put a hose clip on! oops car started playing up loads last night....gotta be either leads or coilpack...getting neew leads today, and know where a second hand coilpack is - but its on a galaxy, will it do you reckon?
  23. ok, next prob appears my coilpack is f*cked which is why ,y car is screwing up. where can i buy/borrow one? i need to leave for dover (and then onto germany) tomorrow [ Edited ]
