  1. ain't gonna be simple... the leon cupra r brembos (330mmi think) go straight on a vr6...but need 17"s. the ibiza cupra r brembos (303mm i think) may well go under 16" but are 4 stud. now i did see a said of porsche calipers modified to fit 280mm discs at designa dubs....i'd look into what calipers can be used with your o.e. 288 discs i think. thats prob the best way to go i reckon.
  2. even a brand new car won't have all the cylinders exactly the same....you're only 6psi out of the range, and who knows how accurate his compression tester was?! also, did he do a wet compression test as well...i'm not to clued up about it, but if you do a dry one, then a wet one (put oil in the cyl first) then it tells you if its a head prob or a bottom end prob. either way, i don't think low compression is gonna be why you only have 155bhp. if i were you i'd take it to a vr6 expert...prob stealth racing...even if it were a fair drive.
  3. and not LG6R? or is there two?
  4. thats was indeed a VW accessory made by Fischer yep, an accesory rather than an option....suppose a cd changer is the same. pete's is higher specced than highlines isn't it?
  5. yeah, even the box is a pain to get in....lots of custim stuff will be done. to be honest its not really worth it....you'll loose power through extra transmission loses, you'll loose performance through extra weight....and its not even that good a 4wd system at the end of the day. its fwd most of the time!
  6. ok, bentley says that... -a new engine will be between 145 and 189psi -the wear limit is 109psi -max difference between cylinders is 44psi if your car is running fine i'd leave it. [ Edited Wed Mar 02 2005, 05:47PM ]
  7. erm....those compression readings are normal! (just runs off to double check in bentley)
  8. i really hope you don't mean that...smashin up other peoples cars ain't fun, its really not nice (to put it kindly)
  9. ok, i'll add climatronic as a highline option. whats the deal with the tinted glass pete? is it kind of like 'chromolux' mkII glass?
  10. well, i will be checking chassis no's on etka when i get the motivation. what date is your car registered? i suspect your car was registered late...as its quite common for dealers to not register cars till they sell them...and sometimes end up having them for upto 6months. so that explains your car in my mind. you've also got a dizzy aint ya?
  11. it is very similar, but mkIV seats wouldn't fit in properly, and are slightly different.
  12. well, on normal vr6's the a/c would be an option...where as on highlines that is standard equiptment. what i'm wondering is was there an option to upgrade the a/c on highlines to climatronic. cd changer's a good one, hadn't thought of that...have any pics of it? was the alarm deffo an option, or were they standard by that point? i'm pretty sure it will have been standard...is it the rectanguler black fob with two oval buttons that you're talkin about? my mates highline has that, and another me and another mate were lent had it.
  13. thats great for now, cheers....but next time its warm and your cleaning your car get the wonder wheels out and tyre dressing and we can update the pic.
  14. hard to tell where it is? is it just in front of door? or actually on the floor?
  15. never seen an interior like yours before vento_vr6, wonder if that is a vento only trim. i quite like it though, very nice. headrest were fitted to last of the line vr6's i believe jay, and were optional on the rest...but yeah, is surprising they didn't fit them to all as standard, esp when you consider that all top end mkIV polos did! i'll clarify a lot of stuff tomorrow when i go on etka binliner...don't worry, will try to keep any guess work out of it. 16. sorry, i'm spending tomorrow on etka checking stuff but thought asking would be quicker! can you take any pics from over the door (same angle as both the recaros) if poss please?
  17. yeah, thats could well have changed earlier on the vento...i know they updated stuff on the mkII jetta before they did on the golf. have you seen my request for a wheel pic? as you have wheels i need the pic of (presuming you still have them)
  18. sorry, meant brand...yep, they were 205/50/15 i was thinking it was most likely to be pirelli, as they were fitted as standard to polo's.
  19. yep, pete will supply pic of wheels, though his are in poor condition so if anyone else has them in good condition take a pic.
  20. great....and the official name for the black is blackberry isn't it? anyone else know the mulberry code?
  21. certainly not heavy...in fact, i've never driven a vr6 with a heavy feeling clutch. its usually cable clutches that get heavy as the cable goes rusty. is probably just that mondeo's clutch was silly light.
