  1. could have sworn i replied to an identical thread to this recently...must have been on another forum. if your car is made after 1986 you have to have side repeaters for MOT....earlier cars don't have to have them (early nova's never did for example)
  2. it also looks like tornado red....which is OBD1 only as far as i'm aware. have you got a pic of you engine bay? i'm wondering if it may actually still be an obd1 set up.
  3. yeah, i only pointed it out cause i know the seller.
  4. so a low rev, low throttle misfire/hiccup....give the TB and ISV (it appears to be an obd1 car?) another clean. sometimes takes a few cleans to get it perfect. if it doesn't go away then, its prob something else....but i'd try this first.
  5. Mine doesn't yeah, but yours is a tad, er, special! lol
  6. well, its good and bad.....its can be tuned mega easily and cheaply, a susp kit should sort the handling....but it sounds awful, isn't that smooth, and when tuned will drink fuel (and thats comparing with a vr6). don't forget you can get a vr6 (the 24v) in a mkIV bodyshape as well. pick the engine that suits you best i'd say.
  7. synta silver on all vw's except very low mileage ones (they can have gold) or mega high mileage (go for thicker stuff)....though other oils are prob fine, synta's a good price and a known quantity.
  8. the o2m 6 speed into a vr6 is a lot of work apparantly, and you also gain a lot more weight as its a very heavy box....so will actually slow the car down. one good upgrade i'm hearing of is a 02j fwd 5 speed from a mkIV V5...straight in apparantely, and has better ratios and shifts smoother.
  9. very common for the paint to crack slightly in that groove....is one of the very imperfections on my bodywork.
  10. yep, and will be completed when i can take some pics of an obd2 (which will be very soon)
  11. yeah, i noticed the reg...lol it also has gti alloys for some reason!
  12. i'd estimate about 100mph as well....you don't wanna take it to the limiter though as the power curve trails off before then.
  13. good luck feeding it through the door plug...thats why i kept with the standard stuff.
  14. mine are cable tied to the heater tues inside the dash (just under the tweeter).
  15. you have to be very very careful if going for a non-standard colour, as it can so easily look tacky IMO.
  16. i've seen one with original mkI golf grill and bumper on and i didn't even realise it was a citi golf!
  17. 16"s of course....best compromise between performance and looks. 17"s just aren't complient enough over bumps, unless you run big merc size tyres! you know this already, but i reckon go for the mkIII anni's....its the standard plus look either way, buy second hand as BBS are stupid money new.
  18. braces do bugger all on vr6's....its a very stiff front end anyway. same for all golfs except mkI's, which are quite flimsy. do look good tho....and can be useful for tieing stuff to when you're doing engine work! lol
  19. having said that we do already have brochure scans of the mulberry interior. but send pics anyway.
  20. no...its gonna be a while before this project is finished...so keep the pics coming.

    oo nice

it is nice, but may well be a tad too light (if you get one too light the car starts dropping revs too quick when changing gear)
  22. i know how you feel....vr6's are very disheartening when they're not working right. i don't get why it was thinkin it was doing 49kph when it was at a standstill, never heard of that before! i'd certainly check the bay for split vacuum hoses as i had similar symptoms when one of mine got burnt by the manifold (it was the one to the left of the TB).
  23. will a passat vr do the job?
