  1. very very nice indeed. mkII's are awful for rotting the batt tray out....you should have seen my mates oakgreen one, there wasn't much left! make sure you get some waxoyl in that leg.
  2. is good point tho...its vr6oc nw, not vr6golf.co.uk, so other models need to be considered.
  3. i haven't looked into this area on the vr6, but presuming its the same set up as a gti its most likely to be the automatic switch thats in the rad...or even could be that its not plugged in. do not let the car get hot enough for the light to come on or you're risking damaging your head gasket, or even the head itself...whcih will cost mega bucks.
  4. make sure the timing chains have been changed at around 100-120k....make sure you see it in black and white on a receipt, dont take the owners word for it. looking at about £600 to get that done professionally, so knock it off the price. if they say they don't need changing, thats not true....there are many pics of worn out runners on this site.
  5. well, sure a 'rado guide will be much needed....but i know jack about 'rado's. maybe you could compile one? prob easiest wait till you see the golf one then modify it to the 'rado. wonder if we can get anyone to do one on the passat and sharan as well? lol i should note that the title is a bit misleading...i'm basically doing owners guise at the mo...cpvering model revisions, how to spot a highline, how to know which obd your car is, and a database of interiors. then the buyers guide can link to bits of it, when we do one.
  6. thats fine....this will be an ongoing thing i'm sure...just post any you think may be of interest on here (links prob a good idea tho, as opposed to deispalying pic), or e-mail them to me.
  7. wheel pic is a tad close up (sorry to be a pain but am being a perfectionist), something like this is what i mean (sit in the back ) - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v50/acf8181/vr6/wheel.jpg havent got any pics of anyone else yet (for once they're busy at work!), so any will do.
  8. ok, also need pics of.... from a highline - o.e. wooden gearknob, option steering wooden steering wheel, sill covers, door bin lights. from anyone with aircon - pics of aircon controls both for normal a/c, and for climate control. from anyone with an o.e. steering wheel - pic of it please, believe theres only two types fitted (Excluding highine wooden one), upto '93 non-airbag one, and '94 on airbag leather wheel? anyone with an obd2 - pic of your airflow sensor, this angle please - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v50/acf8181/vr6/P2140024.jpg , and pic of your throttle body, this angle plea
  9. ok, am helping pete comile a buyers/info guide. what i need is for people to take pics of their seats, from this angle (open the door and then stand by the wing and go over the door)... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v50/acf8181/vr6/mkIII_recaros.jpg ...i already have black highline leather, early cloth recaros, and late recaros. only need standard interiors for the moment. so if you could post the pic up here, and state what year the seats came from (for cloth). also, need people to take pics of their standard alloys. also state what year your car is. many thanks in advance. p.s. i'll keep
  10. well, i got rid of them on my obd1!
  11. i just find it hard to believe that anyone would pay for a/c later down the line. i suspect although its not technically an option (i.e. fitted at factory), it was fitted by the dealership....so its kind of as good as an option.
  12. sure its not the ring thingy (that the sensor reads off) then?
  13. '93 don't have factory immob ingham...thats an obd2 only thing. you tried my suggestions to work out the prob jay? by the way, thats only the first few things to try...theres lots more!
  14. nice one claire. if i can give you any advice it would be to take the fitness test very seriously....thats how i screwed up in the clio scholarship. thought the fitness bit wasn't that important. they want to see someone really try hard, and never give up. they're most likely to do bleep test, sit ups, press ups, tests to check your flexibility. stuff like that. get training
  15. oil light will flash if your cranking it loads, thats normal. erm...first thing you need to work out is if its getting fuel. how much is in the tank? can you hear the fuel pump priming as you turn the ignition on (its in the boot)? can you hear the relays click as you turn the ignition on?
  16. unless they had the head off how could they possibily know if it needed a new head?! i'd have thought headgasket was much more likely as well. even if some valves are damaged you can just replace just the bent valves.
  17. main water pump is one of the things that hasn't broke on my car! (i've prob tempted fate now) i haven't got me bentley here to check what it says, but clearance is very tight in the bay, and i think the water pump is too high up for access. word of warning....support your downpipe by tieing it up or somthing, as the flexi joins can be damaged if you leave it hanging (happened to mine)
  18. well, appaers he hasn;t sold it yet...looks like a verey good example.
