what kind of car kicks a VR6s' arse?

Had a Mk3 16v and it was quick.... Had a chipped Mk4 GTI 1.8T and it was even quicker! However, both suffered from the same problem - come out of a wet round-a-bout and you will get wheelspin....

VR6 - I assume it is the heavier front end, but I can come out of round-a-bouts not with the foot planted and I don't get any wheelspin. I find the VR6 lovely to drive, and if I was able to afford it I would have a newer/lower mileage one.... I am tidying this one up as I go... only thing that gives away it's age/miles now is the interior.... Other than that, I love it.

And what cars beat it??? Well, I struggled against a Porsche 911 last night... but realistically, I never stood a chance!

Always enjoy leaving GTI's and TDI's in my wake. Had a bit of fun with a Maserati last night on the A1! Was at front of lights with him sat behind. Think he was fairly impressed with the pull on the VR. He never came past....but that may have been something to do with balls though!!! %-6

I can now inform you that Seat Cupra R's definitely can kick a standard VR6 ass. It does have 250bhp though. Nice cars' date=' anyone driven one?[/quote']

Not a Corrado VR6 8o)

My mate has got a 225 (they're not 250 brake as standard) bhp version and we're neck and neck through the gears and top end. Nothing in it really. Mine's standard engine wise. Reckon I might have a slight torque advantage in the midrange when the Schrick is on because the Cupra is quite laggy and they have a narrow power band, not to mention a 6 speed box which, to me, feels unsuited to the engine's torque delivery.

One thing the R does have that eclipses the VR6 and that's good brakes!

The wee clio will give you a good run up to @80-90 ish but then you should waste him :)

Well, onthe saxo bit! lol... I've had a go against a saxo VTR and a VTS. The VTR was on a seriously rainy night (i mean swimming pools lol) coming off of a roundabout.. well, I saw him go for it so I planted it in 2nd.... I was a spec in his rear view mirror before my wheels stopped spinning lmfao!!! Because of my lack of traction i had to play catch up before I scudded past him at @115. The VTS issue however is different, very differnt. I had a go against one a couple of weeks back. Let the little b@stard pass me thinking id kill him shortly after, and found that he managed to hold me off up to 120 before having to brake. Turned the cars round and took it up the other direction, this time with me in front, same again, 115-120 before I started to edge away.... little NOB!!!! lol... Appart from that embarrasing caper, ive kept pace with two different civic type r's, an accord type r and a UK spec scoob - all from @40mph right enough, up to @130 before the road ran out! lol......

On the point of a car for 5k that will beat a VR tho... how about a chap in my town who has a 205 Gti, with a 2.0 TURBO (tuned) conversion, and NOS to boot. I dont think Ive heard of anything keeping up yet........ But before you comment, yes the VR is the better package (no doubt there!) but its under 5k and will eat it alive!!! lol there's always a faster car though, so FFS learn to live with what you've got! :)

that'd be the EDL helping you (basically its a primative form of traction control)

er...vtr's are easy pray, they have all of 90bhp!

vts is a seriously quick bit of kit, but most people who own one can't drive to save their lives!

ive raced a 16v clio before, across about a 300 foot car park. it was organised, so from the line he procseded top launch in forst, whereas i was in reverse. no not a mistake, i raced him backwards, lol. and i won. yey. he was absolutely gutted.

There's a blonde in a black saxo that I pass each day on the way to work. It seems to have been sorted so how do I tell if its a VTR or VTS without walking up to it. She always takes me by surprise as I only see a black flash and a whiff of blonde hair as she shoots past. One of these days I will get a headlight flash in :)

My mates Celica GT4 makes me feel like I'm going backwards whenever I try to keep up. I came from a 205 GTi and found the VR6 more powerful but not as useable, it feels so much heavier, when accelerating & braking etc. The GT4 holds the road in a different league and seriously catapults you from corner to corner. My mate is definately jealous of the VRs noise though, (Scorpion Exhaust and Ramair filter).

just come back form malvern show there was a golf rally with 20v turbo that had a do with a skyline on way and the skyline said it passed him at 167 mph ,bloke in rally said doesn,t know how fast it tops out at as it goes off clock (160 mph)

now thats fast !i want one

well.......looks like all of us have had victories and losses. But just like Ali, who cares if you loose, theres always next time!!

I remember a ford focus ST170 edging at the lights one day. I was rather distracted by a beautiful women who was walking by. As soon as the lights went amber Mr focus ST-170 sped off first, leaving me with a slight disadvantage. I hit the gas fully down..........caught up him......over took him.....and waved good bye. I remember a peugeot 206 GTi aswell. Man this car was reallly sexy. It had a fully dimma kit. I mean proper max power style. I didnt spare him either. Ha Ha. I remember a MERCEDES COVERTABLE SL320 with the top down. Its was some young prick who demanded way at the lights just because he was in a merc. We settled it once and for all at the next set of lights. OH and some of the RS-turbo's are a joke.

I have wasted 2 subarus at the same time on the motorway, one was the impreza turbo and one was a wrx(i think) when i say wasted i mean crawled past them but i still won!! 150mph topped out though, i spoke to both of them when we came of the same slip road and they were very surprised,i then raced them on a b road off the motorway right after, they left me for dead!!!! God i wish i had 4x4!! 8o)
