  1. Hi Aaron, sorry if my first comments seemed on the negative side? This was not ment to be the case. What you state for your brake upgrade sounds well, I was only trying to save you money in the interim period as before brake upgrades you may want to upgrade the suspension first, coilovers, uprated anti roll bars and polybushing (unless all this has already been done) as all these make a massive difference to how the car rides/handles on our tu*d British roads for sure. I myself was going to upgrade the front brakes with a nice Tarox calipers/discs etc as they look excellent, thing is they can'
  2. Just thought I'd put my pennies worth in on this. Why are you wanting to upgrade the front brakes with a bigger setup? The 288mm brakes are more than up to the job of stopping the car as VW intended. Unless you're after looks of having a bigger brake setup behind your wheels I would go for just uprated discs and pads and possibly Goodridge hoses up front. Bigger brakes will mean bigger wheels as the 312 set up won't fit with standard 15" wheels.
  3. For what its worth mine are just standard leads from my local motor factors and have been on the car for around 2 and a half years now with no problems/trouble at all if truth beknown.. Don't know if that helps any? Prob not, but just thought I'd mention it.
  4. Oh bugger, took out cover with RAC the other month. Wasn't car specific its any car policy as it where as we've 3 cars, normal every day car and 2 lowered modified VR's. Don't like the sound of being charged extra ontop of premium already paid (did'nt read small print ) lets jst hope I never need 2 ring them... Only took it out this time round 4 peace of mind...
  5. Can't really comment on Magnecor leads as i've never used them. I just run standard factory leads an they're fine. Not sure whether you have or not as you've not said, but check you plugs as they may need replacing....? Not trying to tell my Grandma to suck eggs as the saying goes? But worth a look see..
  6. FOR SALE MK3 Golf 3 door GTi/VR6 Turbo Red with Black roof. Good all round condition with no rust apart from right at the bottom of the passenger side front wing. Paint is very good and shines well after a wash, but does have several stone chips (nothing major) to it around the car. No central locking as it was removed by the previous owner for a smoothed out boot, electric windows and sunroof which work. Car has Vento front end with smoothed front bumper (no indicators or fog lights) and indicators are now in the headlights (HID) smoothed bonnet (no washer
  7. Well for whats its worth I managed to get my insurance down from £625 to £456 with my insurer. So happy days.
  8. Well spoke to Aplan insurance an they want £550, and spoke to Chris Knott and they refused to quote because of my postcode......
  9. Thats more like it. Thinks may have to give them a bell. Although, for what its worth checked on Money supermaket and guess what? Got it down to £415, quess who with? Ooh, my current insurer. Be ringing them tomo an all to ask what the f##ks going on...
  10. Well managed to get it down to £475 with a different company. So think its time to ring current insurer back an see if they can match it...
  11. Hi all, need help quick. Just received my insurance renewal for my VR from Adrian Flux £625. Not being funny but me thinks that's a bit steep.... I'm nearly 44 full no claims with a clean license. Albeit the cars modified, wheels, suspension, lights, grill, exhaust and its supercharged I still think someone somewhere is taking the p$*s. Ok rant over, anybody with a supercharged/turbo'd VR, what do you pay and who do you use. Thanks in advance for anyone's input.
  12. No problem GREEN97VR6, I got mine from Awesome GTI in Irlam Manchester. Just Google them and have a look..
  13. For what its worth I would personally steer clear of any coilovers under £200, for as the old saying goes "You get what you pay for" Others on here may beg to differ and apologies to the ones that do in advance as this is only my opinion. I myself have AP coilovers on my VR and have never had a problem with them over the last 16 month they've been on the car, they cost £355 so won't break the bank? Hope this helps..?
  14. Ha, so do I. That's why I tried to get all the good stuff done first, but not its soon time for the not so good stuff to be done... But it all has to be done at some point I suppose. When you speak to him tell him Mark with the VR6 from ANH Windows told you to ring, he'll know who you mean..
  15. Fair point, but if the sills arn't genuine he'll probably have to work them/cut and shape them for a perfect fit non the less. Albeit after market stuff is good these days and better than it was 20 yrs ago, panels/wings etc still need work before they can be fitted/and or welded in.
  16. All I'll say is there old cars now and need work, had my VR near 3 years now and spent a ton of cash on it (my choice n wife not to thrilled) My sills still need doing and I'm going to get round to having them done at the end of this season. All I can say is if you're a bit unsure on his work/price? Just get him to do 1 side (the worst affected) just tell him monies tight at the mo, and if his work passes muster you'll get him to do the other side, that way he's got to get it spot on or you won't go back. Not only that, if its not perfect? Don't pay until it is...
  17. Sounds about right to me if he does everthing he's saying he's going too do..
  18. Not a body shop man myself, but if you Google www.solowe.co.uk he'll be able to do all that is required and is very good at what he does. He mainly does body work on old Rollers and Bentleys. All pictures are on his website of his work, he's even done the sills etc and a full respray on a Mulberry VR6, again pictures on his web page. He's down in Ramsbottom just out off Bury, so all dependant on just whereabouts you are in Manchester..? Its not that far.. Hope it helps.
  19. Just Google MK3 Golf VR6 VF Engineering super charger kit and you'll see, basically you get everything needed, bigger injectors, race bypass valve chip etc, everything needed to get you up and running in the day. There is also TRD ( Turner Race Developments) in Stroud, they do a drive in drive out service using an RUF charger kit from Germany priced at £3750. Or it was that price around 6 months ago when I enquired.. VF Engineering kit gives 280 ponies up from standard 174 from factory, and the TRD one gives 250. This can be increased by fitting an intercooler to the TRD charger set up, b
  20. It's a VF Engineering full charger kit using the V3 Vortech charger, bought from Regal Autosport in Southampton. Bloody expensive, but we only live once and there ain't no pockets in shrouds..
  21. Nope, not long been on the car so it def no for sale..
