  1. As much as I like the R32 I'm going to have to say VR6. I've gotta say that seeing as how the wife and I own 1 each.
  2. Would be good to go to that for sure, maybe one year. I'll put it on a to do list Along with everything else I've gotta do..
  3. Funny you should mention Worthersee , I was watching some clips etc on YouTube yesterday. Looks like an excellent show.
  4. Like cactusjackslade, I too am sorry to hear you will not be able to dedicate as much time to the club and will be taking a back seat, but that said though after 13/14 yrs of being involved in the club I can't blame you, as life takes over and more pressing priorities must come first. Sadly though this is now not the bit where I say " Have no fear I will step in and do my bit to help" As I'm pretty much computer illiterate and you lost me at the bit were you mentioned HTML, as I have no idea what that is. Sadly when I was at high school back in the mid 80's and thought I knew everything and
  5. Club stand sounds like a good idea, I suppose it all depends on how many want to go and how far they want to travel? Its only about an hour and a half'ish drive for us (Manchester), although there is camping onsite (we won't be camping though as in the wife's words "I don't do camping") Albeit we're down for the weekend we're only going on the Sunday and upto now there's 5 cars going, 2 VR's, a MK5 Supercharged R32, a Passat B5 estate on 19 inch rims that does not like speed bumps, and a MK3 Golf with a Mk4 TDI lump in it. So a bit of a mishmash of VW's, but all VW's non the less. I think ent
  6. Oil? Looks more like Marmite to me. Your either gonna love it or hate it. Hahaha. (Sorry).
  7. Hi all, just wondering if anyone up North is going to the 2017 VW All Types Show at Bodelwyddan Castle in North Wales on the weekend of the 21st of May? The wife an I are going in our VR's along with a few other peeps that we know that have VW's . Be nice to meet up with other VR owners on here at said show if anyone's up for it....?
  8. Bit harsh to say it may have had a front end smash... If this where to be the case so long as everything lines up etc then happy days? I would be more inclined to say that the previous owner looked after the car and didn't want any stone chips etc on the bumper or bonnet. Wings wise? We all know they can suffer from rust at the bottoms, whether it be a MK3, 4 or 5. So its probably safe to say this is the reason/reasons for fresh paint. That said, its now pushing on in years (I own a 95 MK3 VR6, so I'm not saying your car is old by any means) so I challenge anyone to show me a car of that vint
  9. Good stuff, glad you managed to get it down to a price you where happy with as £3500 is just taking the pi## really.
  10. Fair point, with you. Didn't look at prices. Ooouch..
  11. Can't comment on these, but there's a company that does fibre glass panels, bonnnets, wings, doors etc for the MK3 Golfs called iztech. Wings and bonnet are on Fleabay, don't know anything about this company either but they're a bit closer to home as think they're in Berkshire? They're on Facebook so worth a look see?
  12. Got the smaller front splitter on my VR from a CL model and I think its looks well as its abit different than the norm. Had to put a smaller one on as already smashed / ripped two of the deep chin lips off on f#@kin speed bumps and was only going 10 mph...
  13. Not sure about the Corrado? Vento on the other hand is basically a Golf with a boot. Have a look on VW Heritage website, they do them priced at £28.90. Hope it helps...
  14. This may not be a very interesting post? Just thought I'd share it non the less. Took the wife's 3 door Mulberry Highline out for a run today to Southport and as we where nearing Southport I said to the wife that her VR was quite a bit of a rarity these days as there's not many 3 door Mulberries left on the road. Then no sooner had I said that than we passed a 5 door Mulberry VR on the main drag down into Southport. Was nice to see another VR (looked very nice) out and about today for sure, especially seeing as how the weathers a bit poo bob due to the time of year. So again, nice to see
  15. Time too consult the Haynes manual me thinks.. As I know the dash had to come out of the van when that went a few yrs back now. As stated though, be careful an make sure you don't trap anything putting it back, as the guy that did the one on my van (Ye course I know what i'm doing) trapped wire and things, and afterwards certain stuff stopped working..
  16. I must say the VR looks very very nice now with fresh paint etc. Had mine in for welding last week sadly (both sills and drivers side rear foot well) as failed its mot, I knew it was on the cards but didn't realise how bad it was until I had a look under the car with my mate (mot inspector) and she was pretty bad to say the least. Sent her to a guy I trust to do the welding and he kept sending me pictures of what he'd cut out saying "Ooh rat holes" then one he sent said "Elephant holes", funny bugger) Sadly though he didn't then give her a full respray mind, he just did what was needed to get
  17. Lucky bugger, got agreed value on mine as well with protected no-claims, but even so you did well there. Gotta be my postcode then 4 sure.
  18. Nice. Well worth the trip obviously. Have to say it does look very nice in the pictures without a doubt. Good luck with the insurance, hopefully you get a good deal/price.
  19. Bloody Hell, that's cheap. You must have a better telephone manner than me as mine was £450'ish with all mods declared with full no claims and being really old (44) Bugger.
  20. Blimey, that was a quick post as its only just ended on fleabay. I was watching it just to see what it made as it looks very nice indeed. Try either Adrian Flux or Footman James, as they both do classic, modified insurance. Although there is another company that Members use on here down your way that maybe cheaper? Chris Knott I think it is, wouldn't quote me though because of my postcode (Manchester)
  21. Extra because its 17 yrs old...... Now that's the bit that gets my back up. Never ever have I had breakdown cover on any of my (old cars) or motorbikes (new'ish) over the past 27 yrs, or there abouts. It was only this time round that I/we did at the wife's insistence.. It would appear to me that the likes of the RAC, AA, Green Flag etc are quite happy to take our money in the obvious hope that we don't breakdown.. Then if we do, its then a case of "Ahh, well your car is old, err, its non standard, err its over 3 yrs old, err we don't know what to do with it. Oh actually yes we do, we'll charge
  22. Sadly not, gone way past the cool off period. Suppose if I'd have known at the time I would have waited until my insurance renewal came round as they said it was £55 for breakdown/recovery and they already know of all the mods on my VR as I told them at the time of renewal. Bugger........
  23. No probs Aaron, glad I could help. Enjoy. Mark.
  24. Hi Aaron, I must admit they are a bit pricey for sure. Bushes wise, Powerflex ones are on mine but don't get the top mount bushes are standard ones from the likes of Euro carparts are more than upto the job as the Powerfex ones squeak. Anti roll bar wise, I have H&R ones on mine back and front. Have a look on Awesome GTi's website and that'll give you an idea. Mark.
