2.9 VR6 Engine parts - VW MS VSR, Big Valve Head etc
VR6 Supercharged replied to Millsique's topic in Engine Parts
Hi again Richard, that's not a bad price at all for the complete engine. Sadly I'm no longer in a financial position to make a decent offer as I've just had to buy a new van for work as the current van will NOT past its next mot It seems a shame that you have to sell/break the car up as by the sound of it you've spent good money on it... Good luck with the sale non the less (just a shame its not me who's buying) and hopefully you get the kind of money you're after. Regards Mark. -

Hi Richard, what kind of money are you looking for on the complete engine, and also the VSR? Kind Regards Mark.. -
[SOLD] VW Golf Mk2 VR6 Turbo RWD Track/Race/Road

That looks wicked..... -
Looking good there fella, and seriously liking those wheels a lot. What wheels are they if you don't mind me asking?
-
I feel its just going to be a case of process and elimination, which you already know. Good luck in sorting it...

As noggin said it could be a host of things? If its been off the road 3 years and only started up and not driven? then things are not getting used, ie; sensors ect. Check the lambda sensor, also does it still retain the original factory immobiliser, as that could possibly factor into the problem..
-
Fair point. Just had a look on Fleabay again, the sellers called Boltonbits. sells all sorts of bits/parts for cars. It does say fits all Mk3 Golfs from 1.4 to 2.8? Worth an email maybe, nothing ventured nothing gained as they say..

Look on Ebay, sure I've seen some (after market mind) brand-new for around £20-£25.. Worth a look

Bit of a bummer they'd didn't do timing chain at same time as the rebuild £550 sounds a bit steep for an engine, but there again if its only done 72k I don't suppose its to bad, and obviously as you know get the timing chain done before its fitted. I think doing a strip down and rebuild of your original engine as and when you've got the funds is a good idea, if I were doing it I'd have the crank reground and balanced, the bores honed and then put new rings in and whilst the heads off have it gas flowed and put in some fast road cams from the likes of Schimmel, Schrick or Autotech e

Gutted... Not be better off taking the engine out of yours and do a rebuild..? Buying a second hand engine may have more problems than its worth, save on second hand and spend on yours instead? Seems a bit drastic to break it, if you're gonna sorn it, you might as well sorn it and work on the engine...

Bummer. Was worth a try I suppose, they did say that if I wasn't interested that they would scrap it, but that was only last week.....

You might be in look, there is a Dragon Green 5 door on an R plate for sale in Bolton. Its been parked up for a while as the guy that owned it crashed (apparently) on an industrial estate and damaged the drivers side front wheel etc and left it with the owners of a unit on there and they now want it gone. Was offered it at £600, but already have to VR's so not room for a 3rd, complete car with a nice interior, I only wanted the interior, but for that I'd have to take the car. Might be of use to you for the engine and other bits you never know? The guys called Darren 07879601308.

I run Toyo Proxes T1r's (stretched) can't fault them, good in the wet and/or dry. Hope it helps....
-
Looking good for sure. Quick question, where did you get the arch spats/trims from? I like them a lot, been looking for some for my VR, only place I can find is in the US (Optikworx I think they're called) Would love some of those you have, as I like different...

Front and rear VR6 badges on Ebay at the moment if you still need them.
-
No worries, just a thought. Good luck in your search then non the less..
-
I know you say you've tried everywhere, but have you tried Ebay? They are occasionally for sale on there (may need a refurb, but its better than non) I've actually de-badged mine all round as I rather people didn't know that it was a VR6. Although you could also try VW themselves, or VW Heritage? I'm not saying they'll have any mind, but worth a look non the less, unless you've already tried?

Nice looking VR you got there.. Yes think I'll source a new/try to get a new one then because as I say mines looking a bit shabby/tatty to say the least. Charger wise? I'm running a V3, and have been doing for nearly two years now and had it mapped again not so long ago, its pushing 290hp now which I'm more than happy with. Thanks for the input again though, its helped me make my mind up.
