  1. Just after any help or advice about car covers,if all goes to plan I should be bringing the golf home with me on Saturday, but unfortunately I haven't got a garage and I'm dreading bits of birds crap etc touching the paint I've spent the last 3 months slaving over.I'm expecting to spend £100 plus and I'll probably only be taxing the car 6 months or for the summer so it'll be under wraps all winter so it's gotta be good! Thanks for any help in advance Ben.
  2. Yes thanks I found that was very helpful, just didn't point out the specific wire(black and green), I presume that's pin 22 got it sorted today, though the controller kept throwing wobblies at 4000rpm, so it opens up at 4100rpm now! Still haven't driven it yet though hopefully will at the weekend to see if all is ok. Thanks for the help! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Sounds like how mine started, if you read my build thread you'll see what else I found! Hopefully you've caught it before it's got to bad, good luck mate!
  4. Hi, trying to get my schrick inlet manifold wired up and can't find the rpm signal from the ecu? Tried the autodata etc,but it doesn't list the certain wire for it? Google didn't help either! The car is a 96 obd2 by the way, Thanks for any help in advance Ben. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Yeah the handles go straight in 2 minute job mate. Yes very nearly there now a few little problems left to sort out I'm having a spare crank pulley machined down as it catches the chassis leg when the engine is revved because of where I've lifted the engine, then I better drive it as I haven't apart from up the yard since doing all the work, hopefully nothing catches or rubs!
  6. Ok I think I'll keep the eisenmann then! I was a bit worried it was a bit big and erm.... chav though? It is f^+#ing noisy..... but maybe in a good way, I'm going to need to get the exhaust elongated somewhere somehow though, as it sits well short of the bumper, it's wedged on top of a paint pot in the pics! I know I've got a us bumper, but it sits so far in and I've got no idea how it fitted without knocking on the the floor or axle on the vr6 it came off of! No not going to be at UD , going to hold off taxing it till the end of the month and after all the work I've done i didn't fancy a 300
  7. Yeah I really can't decide, thought that they kind of go with the mirrors though?
  8. End of week update, got the fog light vents I bought from calico painted along with my other polo 6n2 smoothed handle and a door moulding which got dropped off of some tressels, Then fitted it,still not 100% sure on the colour coded handles and might end up painting them matt black or putting mk3 handles of some sort back in, Then clipped the vents in, indicators needed a bit of persuasion with a couple of hidden self tappers to keep it all clipped in! Got all of the h&r coilovers onto the car this week, not sure that the rears are going to go low enough though and then got it on the mot
  9. My boss had a mk2 Alhambra v6 sport, really nice car, seats looked like half leather/suede recaros, had all the toys and 6 speed box if I remember correctly,so much car for so little money! Rare as rocking horse shit it seems though! He sold it to his mate who lpg'd it and apparently it runs really well on it, driving all around Europe! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Another little update of the progress this week, started getting the rear h&r coilovers on,wound down pretty low, have to see how it drives to see if its ok like this, Then took the schrick home and gave it a bit of a clean and put new bolts in the front, for some reason had this box of nice shiny Allen key bolts in my shed new they'd come in handy one day! Then got the old manifold whipped off in a couple of tea breaks, tried the schrick on and realised that hockey puck engine mount spacers+schrick doesn't work:( , well not if you want to shut the bonnet! So a bit of trimming the hockey puck
  11. It's pretty much an astra gsi turbo underneath the only bit of van left is the shell, then it's got all the astra Vxr goodies on it, a few other bits and a remap, really pisses the audi, BMW and range rover drivers off in the fast lane of the motorway, Haha!!!! 12. Yeah this was meant to be a little budget project to keep me busy over the winter, just because the car was so cheap and I always wanted a vr6......... and now I'm here!! Think it's going to mean I'm going to have to sell my other toy now:( As I'm not going to have time to keep the both of them plus my daily driver in tip top condition! This is my 'van' all 293bhp of it;) Gonna be sad to see it go,but owning a supercharged vr6 soon makes me think oh well:) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Yeah just spotted that! The joys of technology!!
  14. For some reason it didn't quote these above, but yeah not that much of a fan of smoothed bays. But yes it will be very clean......eventually!
  15. I think I can still say Work in progress? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Think I'd like to make it all look as if it was there from the factory, no polishing just very clean! It's a bit annoying that the chargers got blue samco hoses with it would much prefer black, so something else to find in the year! Sent from my iPhone using T
  17. I just looked up how much eisenmann exhausts are:o weren't sure about it and was going to stick with my miltek, I think I'll have to use it now!! So I cleaned it up; The only thing that's annoying is that they've welded the what looks like custom centre section to it! Then I got these cleaned up,they look to be in pretty good nick,no leaks or anything, then wd40'd up the threads so I'll hopefully get the adjusters moving at work tomorrow as I'll be wanting to run the car a lot lower than he did;) hopefully they'll ride better than the pro sport ones I put on there, then I can sell the prosports
  18. Yeah going to get a few bits on,hopefully the exhaust the suspension and the shrick, before I get the car on the road for this year. Then at some time over the next year I want to strip and rebuild the other engine (that you can see in the back of the van) with new chains gaskets and arp bolts as it's done 90 something thousand miles compared to my engine which has done 172k. Never really stripped and rebuilt an engine, about the only thing I've not done to a car, so it'd be a good opportunity to learn a few things! It's also got a pair of piper reground cams in the new engine:). He also gave m
  19. I've just bought a shrick and the previous owner said this as well

    abc pillars

You can buy paint especially made for plastic trim, most car paint suppliers should do it, morrellis brown brothers or whoever is local to you, you just need to give it a good scotch, not to harsh grey scotch maybe if it's to harsh it'll go a bit 'furry' clean the crap out of it with some sort of solvent cleaner or even just thinners, plastic primer it again you can get this stuff in aerosols and then paint it,I painted the b pillars in my astravan over a year ago like this and apart from a spot where the seatbelt rubbed through it still looks spot on!
  21. Here we go! I think I might of just had a bit of a touch! The story is I sold a van to bloke, (we sell a lot at work it's a bit of a sideline for us) and he spotted the VR in the corner of the workshop and said a mate of his had just completely stripped his VR6 as he's making it 4wd r32 turbo(more on this later) basically he had the car since nearly new and put all these bits on it over the years, I only really wanted the charger but ended up taking the lot off him for a really good price;)
  22. Definitely! Going to cry when it gets it's first stonechip though, lol! Going to hold out for a bit longer until the weather improves. Just picked up a few bits for it, so let's just say the budget part of this project has gone out of the window, though I really couldn't say know at the price! I'll get a couple of pics up soon:)
  23. Thanks mate! I'm nearly finished with the fitting up now, got the rear bumper on with a couple of screws to see what it looked like, as I'm still waiting for the US bumper reinforcement to turn up and got it outside to turn it around so I can polish the other side in better light. Took a couple of pics in the sun; Note the wheels sitting in on the front and the backs poking out Looks a bit orange in some of the photos....it's not! Probably something to do with all photos being taken on an iPhone! Then jacked the car up and got the front splash guards in after trimming them a little bit around
  24. I'll find out on Saturday, as I've shook hands on the charger and a load of other bits:) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Started thinking about fitting the front bumper, so wanted to get a number plate on there but obviously without any visible holes and easy to remove for any shows etc,so knocked up this bracket at lunchtime; Thought that attaching it with self tappers would be a bit crap because if you screw them in and out a few times chances are it'd end up falling off with me driving over it! So used a couple of rivnuts so I can use m6 screws and it should last a lot longer; Bracket on; Number plate on; Then popped the spoiler on and slid the bumper on; Also have won a complete us spec rear bumper reinfor
