NON CAT lambda sensor for vr6(better performance)?
rsweeney replied to faigolfgti's topic in Engine Tuning
id also be interested do you have a part number for the non cat lambda?i m thinking the wiring coming out of it would probably be different -
Lukey - with the front wishbones would you just replace them with oem or powerflex? not wanting too harsh a ride only gone powerflex on the rear axle because they are much longer lasting and not many people have had bad experiences with road feedback/ vibrationh
-
thought so as cant find them anywhere else so far will order them in with new rear axle bolts
-
where can I buy these from ? is it only a vw job ? part number 191611797B
-
the nuts, bolts and number needed are : N 90354401 £1.84 x2 ( Bolt for bush ) N 90238503 £2.45 x2 ( Nut for bush ) N 10141701 £1.62 x6 so will replace the lot for what its worth

I am changing the rear axle bushes for powerflex and wondered if I need to replace the 3 bolts either side which hold the axle on and the 1 nut and bolt either side which hold the bush in ? are they stretch bolts or can I get away with torquing the old ones up and just replacing the nuts for holding the bushes in? found out that the fan speed controls the very nearest flap to the fan via a cable- the outer casing of the cable is clamped to the plastic casing of the ducting using a steel clip . On mine the plastic had snapped off and so the flap must have been slightly closed, I opened it fully by hand and now the air is nice and warm! Here is a pic of how the cable should be, on mine the cable isn't secured atall. I know of a golf being broken so hopefully can get hold of a spare to fit and sort the problem for good. Cheers for the help guys really appreciate it -

yeah I have got under the dash and pulled/ pushed the lever by hand no difference. yeah im pretty sure its clear I blew through the matrix and then filled it with water through one pipe till it came through the other. ( The matrix was new 3 years ago but wasn't oem cost around £20 was from a seller called B&B Components looking back I should have gone oem but it hasn't leaked and seems fine ) . The only other thing is that lots of foam bits blew through after the change due to it being old and disintegrating, and the foam is used to make seals in the ducting but not sure this would eff -

yeah its got me stumped to , from researching the issue all I can come up with is the possibility of either : there still being air pockets in the system? or the flap being broken or not operating ? -
In my golf vr6 I have so far checked : the temperature control cable and it has no play in it and seems to work fine in opening and closing. I have replaced the auxillary water pump , in which I drained all coolant, blew through matrix then manually filled heater matrix with water, refilled rest of system, ran till fans kicked in with cap off then with cap back on took it for a spin. ( coolant temp is all good plus auxillary water pump works , both matrix pipes are hot ) I really need the heaters to work but still just luke warm and I have no idea what to do next , so any help is appreciated

spent an age trying to find a bosh replacement , but this is the best option I could find and have used it on both golf no problem, and its only £65 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-MK3-CORRADO-VR6-T4-SHARAN-WATER-PUMP-C327-/220768631970?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3366d5fca2

How old are you and how long have you owned VR6's
rsweeney replied to VR6Pete's topic in General Chat
first vr6 was an auto my dad had stopped using because the gearbox had given up and so had the cooling system ,chains were rattling , brakes rotten. All working well now just the bodywork which isn't great second was a crashed vr6 I picked up with an engine and box for free , then got myself a £300 golf gti and swapped engines to make a manual vr. ( in pic below ) im 17 , have a sat job and buy & sell on cars 2 get the money for parts and btw I don't drive it like a loon got a fiat seicento I drive most of the time! vr only for a week here and there when I have money -
Just tried to order a new scuttle panel for the vr6 from vw over here and was told that only one side is available the other is obsolete?! Is this right or can I get a new one from anywhere because the one I have has no seal and is really tatty Rich

Air in system, gurgling water pump
rsweeney replied to ssaunders's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
I am having exactly the same problem on my vr6 , it doesnt overheat atall stays steady at 90 yet im getting this gurgling noise. The heater matrix is not leaking atall as carpets are dry as a bone and its not loosing any coolant. Interested to see what people think -
yeah that want im after, i found this website that seems fine and should do http://www.powerflexshop.com/car/volkswagen/golf-models/golf-mk3-1992-1998/powerflex-bush-pfr85-206
-
ok decision made then where is the place to get the best powerflex ones ?
-
haha i was half expecting that, im only wanting to do the job once and want to go for the proper option which will be god for another 20 years. Would polyflexes be the best option bearing in mind everything else is standard?

found these and they are dead cheap but worried they wouldnt be high quality due to price? http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=605

remembered hearing about this when doing my gearbox removal so Just read through the guide on removing vr6 gearbox and it states that "the two top bell housing bolts are different lengths make sure you dont put them in the wrong holes as u will puncture the water jacket and the engine coolant will leak out throu the bolts " maybe a previous owner has put the bolts the wrong way aroung and punctured the water jacket?
