  1. Trying to locate the oxygen heater relay but can't find the info anywhere! Getting an intermittent oxygen sensor relay error code P00537 - can hear a relay flickering under the dash and fairly sure this will be the oxygen heater relay having replaced the MAF and Lambda sensor Rich
  2. can i take this if its still available?
  3. hey mate im doing the same but for a golf, manual gearbox will bolt straight up after you replaced the the torque converter and backing plate with a clutch and flywheel

  9. cheers guys, never heard of oem and more so will give them a go AVS Car parts (vwspares) http://www.vwspares.co.uk/index.php seem to be quite good by the looks of it, pretty sure it was them I used 4/5 years ago for the timing chain kit on my other vr : 1 x #342.093 Crankshaft Seal £6.54 1 x Febi 09585 Chain, Lower £16.02 1 x Febi 09402 Chain, Upper Special Order £24.36 1 x 25238 Damper £32.34 1 x Genuine 021109509E Tensioner
  10. Where is the best place to get the full timing chain kit in the uk price and quality wise, TPS ?
  11. there arent many vaccum pipes on the vr6 which ones are missing?
  12. The power steering is really noisy on my vr6, think the tracking is slightly off which will be putting more load on the power steering but pretty sure its the pump making the noise. I also replaced the corroded power steering lines with custom built lines which are slightly different but pretty sure this isn't effecting anything. Fluid is brand new Comma CHF 11S used a second hand pump no problem on my other vr6 and worked great but what is the best option second hand, rebuilt or new and where from? this is a new pump but not sure on quality http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-Mk
  13. The two things sound unrelated , but if they do need replacing these are genuine lifters for the 12v vr6 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Genuine-INA-VW-Golf-MK3-2-8-VR6-Hydraulic-Tappet-Lifter-Set-034109309AD-/262002716311?hash=item3d00942e97:g:LdUAAOSwjVVVy6Fp
  14. hey any chance you have a link to the 90 degree intake pipe? cant seem to find one on ebay with the breather pipe take off
  15. need to some for the golf they look slightly different but may give it a go as don't want a wet interior again!
  16. although it looks corroded if it isn't leaking it's probably best to just give it a thorough clean. They are an interference fit, the same principle as the valve guides. So if it needed replacing I'd take it to a machine shop and get them to carefully remove the old pipe. VW don't list this as a separate part of the cylinder head so you could work out the correct diameter of pipe needed for the interference fit, cut a section of this pipe, and then put a slight flare on the end so the hose has an edge to seal against. You could then fit pipe into the cylinder head using a wooden mallet or simi
  17. I replaced the water pump with a Firstline pump - metal impeller. previous one was actually ok. Managed to get Plugged into diagnostics and read live data of the coolant temp, which read 84 when the dash reading was towards 95-100. Fans kicked in consistently at 90 and brought temps down to 84, no overheating. So I need a new coolant gauge!
  18. turned out to be poor earth - main earth strap from battery terminal to bell housing
  19. i need help with this aswell mine has just thrown up Fault code 00522 coolant temp sensor G62. Not sure if this is referring to the blue ECU sensor, yellow aux water pump & dash gauge sensor or the brown aircon sensor ( i still have the wiring connected to this sensor even though i have removed the aircon and it has never given me this code before ) Car runs well so wouldnt think it was the blue ECU coolant temp sensor
  20. Spoken to Vince at stealth racing again today , he thinks it will be the main water pump so i have just ordered up a new pump and bolt set which should be here next week. He said the plastic impeller which is only pressed onto the pumps shaft can slip causing it to fail when systems under pressure.
  21. Still not got to the bottom of this ! The coolant temp gauge tends to sit just above 90 degrees however goes up to 100 degrees after a longish run. Oil sits at 94 degrees When it goes up to 100 degrees it seems to be because the fans haven't kicked in. However I am running a brand new genuine thermostat and low temp fan switch http://www.awesomegti.com/neuspeed-1...witch-8-170-03 The FCM seems to be working well ( I have put a feed to the rad sensor and both speeds operate ) The sensors in the thermostat housing are brand new genuine. All pipes get hot, water pump was new a few years ag
  22. looks quality mate, is the low temp fan switch from a T4 transporter by any chance ?
  23. Noticed there is too much play in the front struts of my vr coming from worn top mount what's the best replacement for these ?
