  1. thats good it rules out the timing chain and yeah ive kept a close eye on the levels cause of the leak. its leaking between the gearbox and engine , is there a gasket between the two or is it going to be something else ? im doing some work on the gearbox itself and it would be nice to stop the leaking at the same time
  2. i managed to have a quick look at the flywheel today by removing the cover between the gearbox and engine block and no signs of damage. Where abouts on the gearbox is the pump and filter? and i was told that it might be the timing chain on its way out but any tips on how to check ? cheers for the help
  3. its leaking quite a lot of atf between the gearbox and engineso i thought it might be linked to that ?
  4. the car is a Golf VR6 auto 1994 , and has had gearbox problems, however i started the car a few weeks ago and noticed a noise coming from the engine bay. It is a spinning , high pitched noise that gets faster when you accelerate , it is worst in neutral when you get past 1500 rpm ? any help would be appreciated as the car has only done 62000 miles and the gearbox looks to be giving up :-(
  5. hi guys im new to the website , i have a 1994 Golf VR6 with the 4 speed automatic gearbox, the gearbox isnt choosing the right gears but ill give you a brief history of the car - The previous owner had problems with the car over heating and noticed the gearbox wasnt changing gear at the right speeds. when they checked the atf level it was low so they filled it up but still it wouldnt choose the right gears. I took the car off their hands and on the drive home it felt like it was stuck in its default mode. i fixed the cooling system and i also changed the atf and gearbox filter ( aswell as the
