  2. Great news H! Wish him a speedy recovery so he can put it behind him. The only encounter I've had with cancer is when my sister found a lump, even that had us all worried. Can only imagine what you and your family have been through! x

  8. As for the handbrake, could be a grounding issue. check all the grounds round the handbrake upto the fuseboard
  9. Good things are worth waiting for, and then there's finding a VR! Think of what you want from the car, and stick to it, chances are you will compromise when you get impatient, and a week after you buy it you find your perfect car.. good luck!

  11. There is a how to on changing the changing the chains and one on a head gasket in the premium members section, that has helped me on several occasions!! But all you really have to do is undo the tensioner (as you would on a gti) hang the chains out of the way (or replace if you wish) then crack the head off. its quite simple but very complicated at the same time! good luck mate and I hope its nothing to bad!
  12. Righto, its been a very long time, in fact anyone could have got it done and finished and driven it by the time I've got this far! Anyhow, been making small progress here and there, doing what I can with what patience / money I have been further ripping out the interior, carpets gone, most of the electrics and going to cut out the parcel shelf some time next week hopefully to make way for a pile of scaffold also whipped the engine out, cracked the head off, doesn't look too bad, pistons look in good nick but valves could do with a lap. so sent it off for a skim (will get pics off the new he

Just a little note, the img icon for the VR6OC at the top of the page, on the left bank of cylinders, where the piston rings are, its slightly warped? as in the top of the piston isnt in line with the bottom, (on the left of the piston anyway) not sure if that makes sense?? just something that caught my eye anyway..

  18. Should be able to get a decent raceland for under that, there often on here or on the bay, just be wary of fakes
  19. I'm just using stove paint mate, temperature resistant upto 300 degree or so. the only issue is that its matt black, which doesnt bother me, but depends how nicer finish your after?
