hi guys, i picked up a rotton (rotton is being kind) golf vr6 local the other day that i am going to break, as you know going by this thread in the link below my engine in my daily vr6 is smoking, the compression tests did not seem bad in my vr6 (i also spoke to vince at stealth and he said they seemed good), its also weeping oil / coolant on the auxillery belt tensioner side where the headgasket is (common problem). please see my thread here on my daily vr6 engine - http://www.vr6oc.com/forum/topic/45474-results-from-my-vr6-dry-wet-compression-tests/ now it was running very poorly, but i

hi, i have some VR6 / GTI jom coilovers for sale, still have warranty left i believe, bought on 19-4-2013 and cost £177. still have reciept here for the new owner. decent ride and none are leaking (well they shouldn't be anyway!), will need crappy standard suspension in return as im sticking the car back to standard! cant say ive been successful in selling standard suspension in the past! located west wickham in kent. im not posting these chaps so you will need to come to mine, kettle is on! want to swap for standard suspension plus cash my way! 07773114069 is the best way to contact me!

picked up another golf vr6 and god its running bad! OBD1
paceo replied to paceo's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
how do you check the ignition timing? well sometimes pete it runs like a dream, other times its bad!!! if i wiggle the wire on the maf if will cut the car out so im thinking the issue is there like a wiring fault or similar! -
hi guys, picked up another golf vr6 obd1 as the bloke had the hump with it!!!! it starts but you have to keep your foot on the throttle for 5 minutes before you can let it idle as it will cut out when cold, when you put your foot on the throttle it splutters badly and stalls, it stinks of fuel!!! STINKS!!! its running on a dizzy. just want your ideas, ive got a few but some more input would be good! ive got a fully running OBD1 so will swap bits over but im way too busy at the moment!!! its also way way too full with oil.
-
will have a 5 door one soon once ive stripped it, you can have it for £20. west wickham in kent.

hi guys - need a sharpish answer - 36k vr6 engine but HG gone?
paceo replied to paceo's topic in General Chat
thats what i was thinking? seems strange! engine is out of the car now though! -
as title, a guy very near me is breaking a 36k golf vr6! yes 36k! its mint, well apart from engine to why he is breaking it, he says the headgasket has gone, can smell petrol in the header tank and its pissing out on the thermostat housing! is this the usual problems with the VR? no mayo in oil cap!
-
my vr6 is smoking a lot! i know of a corrado vr6 around my area that does not smoke but its a bit ropey bodywise, ideal as its obd1 dizzy and so is my early 1992 golf! im on a phone, an old nokia so excuse me if its been asked, i know its a direct swap and i can do it myself. question is how much difference will it make from 2.8 to 2.9?
-
so pressure blowing out or sucking in? new one on me? i know the rs turbos if the rings are gone the oil cap will pop off but can see your theory it will be blowing out? i have no pcv valve, got a very early 1992 mk3 vr6 which has not got one!
-
on the air intake side that goes into the throttle body? you mean take the little pipe connected to the rocker cover? start it up? pressure as in feeling if its throwing out a lot of air?

MK3 Golf OBD1 VR6 to Corrado 2.9 VR6 conversion :)
paceo replied to DanChave's topic in Engine Tuning
whats the difference like dude from 2.8 to 2.9? -
as title, one thats preferably had the timing chains done and does not smoke its tits off like mine! corrado vr6 abv engine!
-
want to do a leak test chris!
-
reason is ive got a stage 2 vortec charger to go on the car! no point in putting it on a sickly engine! is just under a teaspoon enough oil? i did put two teaspoons in piston two in the bottom left which sent it up to 260psi, but i thought i put too much oil in!
-
not anything else dude, wouldn't mind doing a leak test, well don't trust garages so ideally need someone who is local that has one! The car is not excessive on oil but does use some, when i boot it i dont see clouds of smoke in the rear window! dox - yes its original and she is a J-reg 1992 so an old bird, head has never been off the car by the looks of it! any ideas how to possibly free them up?
-
tax should be included dude! i work for RM so know!
-
if i dont drive the car, start it from cold and leave it idling untill the fans kick in, it will continuously kick out blue smoke when hot and no matter how long i leave it idling for when hot. its as soon as i drive it and leave it to idle when hot most of the smoke is clear
-
if you read above it is continuous from cold up until hot on idle if i leave it. if i then drive it, then leave it on idle you cant see much blue smoke!
-
you can buy then direct from schimmel for £356 posted!

compression testers - to determine if my vr6 has worn piston rings?
paceo replied to paceo's topic in General Chat
read this mike, what do you think? i added just under a tablespoon http://www.vr6oc.com/forum/topic/45474-results-from-my-vr6-dry-wet-compression-tests/ -
but surely that would cause a loss of compression? when you start it up from cold and let it idle up to temperature it will kick out blue smoke, not excessive but its there. drive it and it clears.
-
as you know my vr6 golf is quiet smokey (blue) from cold and when it reaches temperature its still smoking blue! if i take it for a drive the smoke will clear and when i leave it on idle from a drive the smoke is almost gone, maybe a little bit of blue smoke you can see! here are my results - i put about a teaspoon of oil in it, ive already spoke to vince at stealth racing about this, just want to see your views, compression seems ok, but surely it would be down if i have blue smoke?? piston 1 - spark wet with oil - dry test 188, wet test 203 piston 2 - mildly moist spark - dry test 188,

hi guys, ive got a standard compression tester for my golf vr6, now obviously this wont determine if its a worn cylinder head or bottom end as the car is a bit smokey (blue - oil) with a compression tester i will do the test first when the engine is warm, then add a bit of oil to the cylinder again, if it rises a lot i believe thats the case for a worn piston ring? how much oil in ML do i need to add? or has anyone got a leak tester local to bromley in kent who wants to pop over and earn some ££
