I think it would be useful if a big job was being undertaken or even painting the underside but would depend on the rate. My main concern would be if anything went wrong and the car needed to stay longer , id want somewhere secure to leave it. Think it would need to be supervised at all times also.Plus may find its only used after work hours/weekend.
I was wondering if anyone would want to do a RWYB/Night racing meet. Ive been looking at the shows coming up but each one is around £4 per run which is a bit of a rip off plus its always busy so was hoping could maybe get a meet at a general RWYB. Max track time and cooling so can beat some personal bests!
At the pod me with mk2 5 door with full interior and passenger vs Type R with exhaust and no passenger and it was dead even until around 75 where i started to pull
12v and turbo or R32 and rotrex. The 1.8T is quite a strong motor but i think it needs stronger rods around the 350hp mark ,so if you decide to build the motor then probably cheaper for 12v with headgasket spacer and turbo.
Best bet is to strip out the interior and spend your money on a decent suspension setup and tyres combination as will make you faster and is still useful if eventually go FI
I managed to get second place on the Saturday' date=' not bad considering the car isn't running right! [/quote'] Have to have a run at the pod when it is running right! That is one shiney vr6!
Think its more about how it looks though, stripped interior , bucket seats , bottles of NOS. If you where walking round the show and saw that probably think it was highly modified.
I drove mine daily on low comp and hit the limiter a few times and all is well. Just not as much torque as before but wouldnt want to have to do the job twice to go FI.
Do you not have a general turbo name for your old unit? Id just try and get it rebuilt and spend the money on getting your wastegate sorted a proper map
Id give a call to a decent turbo rebuilders and just get a second opinion on the unit. May find you can just get a kit to rebuild it. Also wouldnt personally worry about surface rust so much, soon as the car is driven regularly wont be a problem. Are you running a restrictor on your oil feed at all?
