  5. Hi, just had Dave's shift installed today and can't fault it! Top to bottom (3-4) is about 4.5 inches, slightly more effort as the pivot point has been raised. Install time about an hour, mostly trim removal and refit and a tiny bit of cutting. The result is a lot less slop (I also installed these a few months ago http://www.verdictmotorsports.com/VW_Audi_Shift_Bracket_Bushings_p/0100.htm which made a little difference, but this is another level!) I can no longer wiggle the stick when it's in gear, it's tightened the whole gearbox feel. 11 out of 10! Dave's fabrication is faultless, welds a
  6. Hi, definitely sounds like chain related, have you checked the tensioner bolt moves in and out ok. Only other thing round there is the aux tensioner but that's more of a bearing squeal. Good luck S
  7. Hi, when I had my chains done at 120k one of the tensioners was in bits. There are lots of vids on YouTube for timing chain sound, usually the chains are good it's the tensioners that wear out. Good luck S

  11. Hi, mine has standard AC, the vacuum i believe is used to move a flap in the airbox, its solenoid is clipped up next to\behind the expansion tank and has a tube that disappears into the bulk head that connect to the heater matrix (mine was missed when they did the matrix) other end attaches to solid plastic pipe (white) that goes off to the front of the car.
  12. Hi, it was a couple of years ago but i believe it was about £160'ish (mine only lit the ABS light) easy way to check the rears is VAG com, check which side is error'ing clear the fault and lift the rear seat, both the sensors connect here swap the left for right (and vice versa) recheck vag com and if the same side still errors its the controller, if the fault changes sides then likely the sensor. Give BBA a call for pricing 01634 687222 their website says they keep some in stock (would need coding though). i would VAG com it first to get the correct part no. as well good luck steve

  16. Got to have the same room as 5 door, only difference would be baby seat hassles and having to move when you drop them to the disco! S Or buy a Volvo!
  17. I hope you have checked your rack! They read as being for the zf rack which most VR's aren't!Google the difference, it's something like the zf has a ripple effect on the rack (viewed through engine bay) and the other smooth (or other way round) http://www.vwspares.co.uk/g3steering.php On back order but never done me wrong, or tierod on the bay. Good luck. S
  18. Hi, as title suggests both my rear discs are corroded on the outside edge, both sides are rusted at least half inch in. I have been told its a common issue as the bias is like 80/20 front/rear and the rears rust through not being used. Is that correct? They need changing but I was just checking first. Thanks for looking. S
  19. Hi, AVS spares list them as 369mm left or right so I assume its the rod end that makes the difference. Good luck S
