    While the head is off, I'd check the condition of the timing chains, tensioners & guides, although you'll only be able to check the upper chain section..
    If you do decide to change out chains etc, that'll be a box off job..

    Check the timing on the cams it might be out by 1 tooth. When I bought my Vr the seller said it had cams fitted to it which was bullshit, I checked everything turned out to be cam timing. This is after I adjusted the cam back.

    Put a catch can on mine. Found in difficult to find a good place for it. Ended up putting it on the inner wing next to the air filter. Bit of messing about with hose reducers and 90 bends. But manage to do it.

    3.6 final drive for the gearbox normally from a G60 corrado I believe makes acceleration quicker. Possibly lack of proper maintenance but the vr6 lump is known for uneven bore wear due to the narrow V

    MJ Vr6 got a reaction from cpfcvr6 in can i run a headspacer on a N/A vr6 engine until i supercharge it?
    10psi is the so called 'Stage3' and as Lukey says - multi layered metal head gasket which you then split and sandwich.

    To run a spacer you need the multi layered metal head gasket which you then split and sandwich the plate between the two outers

    ha yea i would definitely say, if you are going to remove the oil cooler hose attached to the crack pipe. get a new pipe too, it will probably crumble as soon as you look at it!

    Looks to be some condensation. One way to be sure the head gasket is ok would be to conduct a compression test.

    Regarding the oil cooler, I've just replaced mine over the weekend. I would strongly recommend taking the front end off. The amount of effort and time required to get to the coolant lines running to the oil cooler, let alone the limited space, would be made up by taking the front end off and having perfect access;

    With front on;

    With front off;

    I know its a pain having to get the air conditioning re-gassed, but its also a good opportunity to replace the a/c drier aswell.

    Just checked over at lunch.
    Coolant is at correct level and is pink.
    No mayo on oil cap
    Dipstick is spot on.

    Hopefully just condensation and coolant level dropped into heater matrix or something.

    Need more information really mate. Do the fans kick in? Is it only in traffic or when you're driving too? If it's when stationary, start with the fans, if it's when driving I'd suspect the thermostat is sticking. There's somewhere to start anyway.

    Blue smoke on these tend to be Oil Stem Seals.
    You can have a look at the bottom end of block when you take the Head off.
    VR6 lump can take a beating.
    Normal cases are the stem seals mate.
    Puffs of Blue smoke at rear when taking off!!
    Ideally get them from VW (TPS), DO NOT get from EURO, coz theyre pretty shiiite dot com.
