  4. they'll both be very similar. I assume the BMW has more BHP (and is RWD) and will be a very nice car to drive... which model is it??? I have no idea on insurance etc so it's out with the spreadsheet for you I am afraid......
  5. for the costs you can part ex in at a garage and get what it'll be worth... we dont do it for the value its for the love....
  6. people are still getting on fine - there are some belters around... one chap has a 22k mile highliner... but obviously not common anymore... yes you may miss the refinement and the 40mpg but.... you gain sound and a go cart...

  10. this seems like Deja vue some how. Did Tony hear the rattle??? I forget...
  11. TBH mate worth purchasing the Bentley manual for that.. (not hayes) unless anyone on here has it electronically of course , http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=vr6+pipe+diagram&hl=en&biw=1024&bih=585&prmd=ivnsfd&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=Xg1hTtWzMIWW8QOrnM0I&sqi=2&ved=0CCcQsAQ I havent checked but have a look in the premium section (may be for the turbo and or charger installs) as I recall a drawing in there somewhere for the pipe work at least
  12. this may help.... I didnt read it all.. but it's gotta be on here somewhere http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&biw=1024&bih=585&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=VW+ral+colours&oq=VW+ral+colours&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=16633l17316l0l20330l3l3l0l0l0l0l177l416l0.3l3l0
  13. One daft thing and I am sure the answer is yes... but as you changed cams etc did you do an oil change after the install...? (queitly... shhh... and checked the levels)
  14. GSF and discounts for premium members .... YAY Need to go G12 ideally. Sytna Silver is the one..... However... I ended up using magnatex on mine for those cold starts and it was as good as gold. Don't forget your filter Oh and 2 things of oil 5 (point something) litres iirc..... typically... not enough in one..

  18. best £10 you'll ever spend mate... All the how to guides as well as discounts on parts etc...
  19. in the premium section there are discussions on the modifications and peoples experiences of pwer v noise eetc..Only comment I will make is make sure it is cold fed rather than just sat in the bay otherwise the hot engine bay removes any benefits (to a point) Again on how long.... well K&N state 60k miles so pop on line and check the ones you shortlist for your preferences.. and of course join up and get the discounts from premium membership... the fee is worth the 15% on your insurance alone...
  20. Spot on test that mate .... perfect and have a look at the blades... make sure you have 'em all and they dont have big chunks out... (turned off ) ...PS no such thing as a daft question ask away
  21. This is all about what you want out of it mate.... The joy of modifying... So do you want to... Hide the wiring Relocate the battery Renew all fluid containers Are you going chrome mad Are you going to paint containers Are you colour coding hoses Are you making all back to factory fresh black etc Hydrolic bonet lifters Respray and polish the engine bay match the covers to your new interior and Headlights (chavtastic) The only limit here is you. that's the beauty of it... Have a search on line for engine bay/modifcation images then adapt them to meet your own taste and goal for your car. Go
  22. Firstly Boosting???? Are you charged or Turbo'd? In answer to your question yes it does run warm as it is a compact unt.. I had a charged system and it sat at 80-90 all day long. In theory all is good up to 110.. BUT I am not a fan of that so the oil cooler was part of my install and I sat at a nice 90 to 100 even when pushing on for the day in summer.... by the sounds of it a good oil and coolant change couldnt hurt. That way you have a good start point to monitor from... Yes it does run after to cool everything down and differet peoples run for slightly different times... Check your fans
  23. remember you have ten plus years of development there chaps...
