  1. Why don't you buy the rado and drive that around and put the vr on a sorn for a couple of months so you can't drive it and just see how you get on, that way you don't run the risk of selling it, regretting doing so and not being able to get it back

    focus st 170

    Was there alot in it?
  3. The guide in the members section says its for 'non coilover' suspension, is there anything that will need to be done differently etc
  4. Im going to be fitting my Koni Coilovers to my VR6 on Monday and wondered if anyone could provide me with a guide as all the ones I can find are for the MK2. Cheers

    Ouch ! ! !

Oh dear god no. Why did i read that
  7. Cheers for the replies everyone. It was the power to weight i was simply interested in so thanks 'eat this' for that. I don't expect to beat the S3 anyway, i know it's faster just wondered by how much so cheer all.
  8. I've never had coilovers but had eibach suspension on my 306 and it was the dogs. Sure you'll love it - Let us know...
  9. Who could explain more about the 3:6 final drive? Mainly the price of having it done? Cheers
  10. Whats the deal with the power to weight ratio on these cars then. Take a healthy OBD2 VR6 circa 185-190 bhp and 1155kg is it? compared to the new S3 circa 260 bhp and 1460kg. What would be the power to weight ratio of both? Does anyone have experience with both, on the road, i want to know how much faster the S3 is going to be. I suppose torque should be taken into account also, i belive the VR is about 240nm and the S3 around 350nm thanks to its big turbo. But then will the S3 only produce that for a limited period and the VR across a wider range? hmm Any info appreciated, cheers!
  11. Yeah i thought it was expensive... Kwik fit just quoted £40
  12. I've got some new wheels for the golf and i want the two rear tyres on my car put on 2 of the new wheels for the front and 2 tyres taken off some steels to put on the rear. Then all balanced etc and ready to roll. I've been quoted £50 cash by a garage near me.... is this ok?
  13. Cheers again Tom. Must admit that the coilovers are firmer and a very comfortable ride. Added bonus of being able to adjust the height to suit yourself. If I had your VR6 back' date=' I'd probably put coilovers on it. Have to meet up 1 day. Would like to see the old VR6. You show me yours and I'll show you mine. Jon [/left'] only joking lol Yes sounds good. I would like coilovers on it someday but i would only put decent ones on and obviously they aint cheap! On my list of things to do though
  14. If it were me I would put up with public transport for a bit longer and keep looking. With regard to service books being faked, pretty much anything can be faked nowadays. Buying cars is a bit of a minefield at the best of times, you need to pick the car that a) fits the bill & meets your own criteria, be it a 3 door, 5 door, leather or cloth and with the most comprehensive stack of receipts, stamps, history, MOT's etc as you can. If you're going to split with your hard earned it's gonna have to prove its worth to you, the prospective buyer. Thats my 2p's Oh yeah, rather than remembering
  15. Do like that Jon as said on e38 Just wondering whats the ride like with those coilovers? Compare with the vr6 after you did the suspension on that? Cheers
  16. Why is this [ image disabled ] always displayed instead of pictures now? I can never view the pictures that people post? :S
  17. How does it come off? I havn't even looked yet btw lol
  18. I got timing chains, clutch, engine and gearbox oil changed all genuine bits, parts, labour and vat for under £800.
  19. It says in the manual about the oil, vr's do use quite a bit. I check mine everytime i wash the car...thats about every week haha. Better safe than sorry...
