Hi everyone, im going to sound like a muppet now...im trying to find out as much as poss about VR's, i've read a few things where people are talking about OBD1 and OBD2, i've done a search but couldn't find anything on it and i just want to know what the deal is with this, what is OBD1 and OBD2..!? Second question...i've seen some pictures of VR6 engines with Shrick written on top..is this just where people have put shrick cams in? Cheeers

Cheers everyone, some valid points raised! I might go and test drive it and see what its like, i wanna drive an auto and a manual to compare so might aswell plus the more experience i have with them the better surely.. Thanks for all your comments

Yeah I want manual really but a few people have said 'once you go auto you never go back' etc.. I dunno personally, not overly keen on the idea tbh.

Thanks Mark, I have been looking at lots of VR6's, some with 100k plus miles on. I just happened to see this one at the garage when my old man bought a new car so thought I would run it by everyone - Glad I did too because everyone seems to be against the idea! lol

Thanks for your replies everyone! It seems like nobody is sold on this particular VR then..? There is no way to really tell if it's just been used for short journeys is there? If it runs and drives sweet would you go for it? Thanks again, Tom

Thanks for your reply. I don't know how much the VR I saw is worth but I did get the impression that if anything it was slightly overpriced. I havn't seen any others with mileage that low however. Your car looked stunning by the way, I think it's hard to compare the two though due to yours being modified and also having over 114k on the clock... Cheers, Tom

Bit off topic but with the VR6's are the auto's loads slower than the manuals? And what are people preferred choice?

I'm looking to buy a VR6 and have just found a 98 R plate with a genuine 30k on it, backed up by full VAG history. It is a complete minter, looks like new. It's a a black auto 3dr, has full beige leather, air con, sunroof, cd etc all the usual spec & its advertised at £5495.00. Whar are peoples opinions?
