  1. Cheers punks, changed me mind now anyhow I'm getting my girls brother to paint em graphite for a bit of badass-nology!! I'm thinking the manifold is gonna get ot this winter though!! hey Pete, you still got your originla obd2 mani? Wanna sell?
  2. Yep, awesome chilled out meet as usual, by far the best bunch of guys you can meet with the mighty 6 pot. Cheers Jody for reading me codes, time to get some tb cleaning done me thinks. Shame we couldn't stay longer, was enjoyin meself. Riggs, why didn't you come to both, me and the boy Gill did after the local biz moved us on from Preston. Until next time boys keep it reet!
  3. Got me a set of monza 1s (17s) in need of a furb and am thinking about getting them polished to make em look half decent. Anyone know of a good firm up north (manchester way) that can do it? cheers guys.
  4. Should think me and the boy Gill will be there to represent the Bolton-nology. Providing I have figured out how to removed and clean out my throtle body by then. Splu-spl-splutter ;-p
  5. Probably gonna answer my own question here but it's always nice for some comforting words. had the wonderful low rev cough, cough spluttering for the past few days and thought I'd try and take off the isv and clean it out....but after some handy searching saw that the obd2 isv is electronic so you can't actually clean it manually. Biz. I then read that a good throttle body clean out does the trick but I aint got the time this week to take it all off and do the full job so i removed the air pipe and stuff and gave the outer face of the throttle body a good clean out with some carb cleaner and r
  6. be reet, 70-80c oil temp is cold as ice, you'll be rocking 96+ on long journeys guaranteed!!
  7. I still love minis with a passion...old school though, modern ones are a bit biz for my taste. As for races, bit of a pussy myself so don't go daft, I got owned by a ctr but to my defense we were doing 100 through rush hour traffic and I decided to bow out before someone lost a bollock whilst he steamed over into the slow lane, nearly wiped out a bunch of slip roaders just to get past. I won the moral battle and I was in 5th all the way. Also had a good battle with a new gti, he pulled in and rapped on at the lights about how cool he thought my car was. How right he was. Pretty quick them new
  8. Was good to meet up with you guys, cool to see the Northern contingent representing again with some tidy motors. Thanks to Pete for being way too early in the morning...oh, hang on, thats a lie you lazy layabout!!!! Cheers Pete for sorting it all out and sorting out the bmc for me (wails harder than my moped filter), so much more responsive than before. Good show with some nice motors, some f'kin awful ones too but not near our stand.
  9. My name's already up but I'm still good. Better get some polishing done eh. Good enough reason to crack out the wonder wheels me thinks.
  10. Seems to be a common occurance at the moment this. Bet she runs ok when cold though eh? It's gonna be a vr specific prob and one that everyone has had or have so I wouldn't trust your local garage if they aint vr clued up. Do a search for splutter/spluttering and have as good read, the fixes aren't expensive.

Thread revival!! These techniclutches run ok on a pretty much standard vr or only any good with vrs with much increased ponies??
  12. Have you had the bad loss of power when setting off, where you have to ease the throttle to get any kind of momentum? This happened to me last night, scared the shit outta me so I left her for a couple of hours, went back, fired her up and she was spot on. Apparently a slow start helps? Ignition on, let the lights go out then fire her up. After reading around though I'm still gonna get me some carb cleaner and get dirty.
  13. Cheers brothers, appreciate the help. Done a bit more reading about it all and the light rattle doesn't match up with some of the normal chain symptoms so am thinking either it's normal engine sound and I'm just starting to get aware of it or the tensioner bolt may benefit from a change. I'm an obd2 boy so from what I can gather the upgrades they made mean a well looked after car should be fine for a long, long time. I'll give the dude a call though and see what the damage would be just in case
  14. Ok I need some help here guys. My chains have started a very light rattle, nothing dangerous yet but i thought I'd rather get em done than risk it and end up with a lovely but goosed motor. I've tried dubsport who'll apparently get back to me ( |-) ) and from what I've read elsewhere they may never do, I asked awesome but they would only do the whole shabang, chain kit/clutch/head/valves...£2500s worth, not what I was thinking really, from what I've learned I just need the chain kit replacing which I know is a real pain of a job. Has anyone a contact in the northwest (bolton/manchester area) t
  15. Sounds good to me boys, although there is a club gti barbeque on I think too. I'm a sucker for free sausages. be good if we can fill two rows of spaces, maybe 'sorted' boy will show again.
  16. Cheers fella. It's cool to get different opinions and saves wasting cash on pointless stuff. So Schrick is the daddy then eh. I currently have a stainless sebring dtm box with a k&n but am getting a bmc in a few weeks, which should help a wee bit. I might stick with the bmc when i get it, get a second hand stainless system and roll with taht until I can get some green for a schrick. We'll see.
  17. I'm still a learner with my vr so won't be doing anything serious for a good while yet, I really do like the schricks though. I know a charger would give the kick in the pants wanted, but I've heard they are a right arse to get sorted and get running spot on, whereas once the schrick is in you're good to go for a long while. I'm looking into getting a stainless 6 branch and de-cat zorst for now (have a bmc coming soon too :-p ) which will give me good gains for small coin. I don't fancy going nuts with turbos or chargers, keep it na. Perhaps I could do this, then save and slap a schrick in th
  18. Are these worth getting, not just raceland but all stainless 6 branches? I'm slowly plotting my future mods and was gonna go schrick but being the cost they are I decided to go 6 branch and stainless system with bmc, less money and more power apparently. Will this be a noisy set up or only when on chat?
  19. Looking forward to the next one guys, hopefully we'll have an even bigger posse. I advise anyone in the area to make the effort, bunch of decent guys with some nice cars havin a few drinks and talking about vrs. Can't think of anything better...that doesn't involve a girl. Be good to yourself, come to this meet.:-p
  20. Bit of a noob thread but am thinking about longterm mods and am super intrigued by the Schrick manifold setups. Now I read that they don't give mega gains like a charger or turbo would but they do shift around the torque delivery and give the car a more useful and responsive pull throughout the whole rev range. I think the Schrick looks awesome and sounds like a pretty bullet proof addition but, the question is, for the meaty price tag these things command are they really a good value for money mod? I expect some serious learning from you this weekend Pete. Cheers guys.
  21. BLACK!!! b-b-b-bad to the bone. Or maybe go for the flat audi grey, like a dull non metallic gunmetal. that would be some badass paint job. And get your schrick painted up black too.
  22. Sleeper style Pete!! You should grind the Schrick down and emboss 'sorted' in it. Badass!!
  23. Look at those badass rides, my parking is shite though. nice pic mr Gill.
  24. My first vr meet yesterday, was good to hook up with sound bunch of guys with some daft engine mods goin on. Very nice. I think for now I'll just save up for some bonnet struts. :-d Was kinda jealous of that 'sorted' rover. Awesome!!
  25. Picked him up at the weekend and I can't wipe the smile off my face. The noise these things make when just pootling around is unreal!! I think I'm in love. Did my first commute today, who cares about fuel when you have that soundtrack. Anyway, hope you like him, took some searching but I found me a good un (zorst is a bit huge but will sort when I get some extra coins). My boys new TT comps look super tough...bit jealous but I'm thinking of leaving mine on oem 15s. Kinda like em. http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f351/al75crx/als01.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f351/al75crx/als03.jpg h
