  1. yea after i sold it he said that he had it hpi checked and the car was in a crash, cat D total loss. but that was in 1999 so the car was still worth a fair bit so was obviously fixed. im guessing the car was rolled as the paint on the roof had cracked a bit and it had evidence of filler which i didnt notice until i sold it to the chap. he did notice this when he viewed the car tho. just thought id check what had happened to it. any one got the link to the for sale section? i cant find it any where? cheeers john

  3. hey guys, some times but not very often (once every couple of days?) when i come to my car i cant select 1st very well but i move the gears and lift the clutch and then its fine, all the other gears have always been fine and the box doesnt crunch or whine at all) but today i came to the car and it was struggling to select 2nd gear, i mean it wouldnt go in at all! i kept pushing it in to all the other gears etc and nothing then all of a sudden it did but was really stiff and after a bit of moving it freed up again, it did this about 20 mins later too. but its back to normal now. im sellin the c

  5. hey guys ive been getting a ticking noise from my car for about a week, i got a mechanic to look at it and he said it was fine. all bushes etc were solid. then today i got time to look at it my self and noticed that one of the bolts connecting the shfat to the gear box was hanging out and there was a metal but on it flicking around making a tapping noise, another bolt was just missing!!! a few of the others (on both shafts) were loose! i could tighten them up by hand! very worrying and im getting them tightened up in the morning, where can i get these bolts from? thanks john
  6. thanks guys, ive got a gtech meter so im gonna do some 0-60 times and see wot i can get.
  7. i know that from driving the car its not m8, im sure its 5800 they wudnt have the peak power that close to the limiter anway, maybe if uve chipped urs they have changed the limit on it. ayn one else?
  8. hey guys, whats the best time to change to 2nd gear on a vr6 highline? it seems best at around 5600-5800 to me, when is the peak bhp made? thanks john
  9. hey m8 u live in bolton? u been to the cruise in the ncp car park?
  10. suppose thats an explanation, but the hg does the hg slowly go or will it just go bang? when i used to work in this garage we had a vr6 from a non paying customer for about 7 months and every day we drove it in and out off the ramp and into the yard and then back in at night. and because of this petrol slipped down the side of the cold pistons into the oil, there was loads and loads of creamy oil... after an oil change it was fine but i have been doing 10 minute journeys and the engine has been getting to around 70/75 maybe 80 c.

  12. thanks guys, the dipstick is always fine. only thing is that i can see some bubbles on the oil on the dipstick? any thing to consider? theres no steam out of the exhaust at all or smoke, engine seems to run fine. only thing is that in the morning it doesnt always start on the first turn but i think that its the starter motor as it makes a nasty noise and the engine doesnt misfire or anyhting. like i said ill check the coolant in a couple of hours once its safe. theres no loss of coolant either which is good, however when i did check the oil it looked like it was above the max a tiny bit. mig
  13. hey guys, when i bought my vr6 i checked the oil and the coolant and they both looked fine, checked under the cap too again fine. the water was a tiny bit murky but nothing to worrry about as when i dipped a rag in the water droplets were clear and the tank is a murky colour so i just thought thats why it was. ive checked the oil and under the cap every day since i have bought the car to check its all ok, and it has been. any way today i took it round to show my m8 and unscrewed the oil cap and to my amazement there was some creamy substance on the bottom of the filler cap. i got really worrie
