Doesn't sound right to me fella. I know the later OBD1s had some crossover parts, coilpacks and stuff like that, i think. OBD2 vrs tend to be a bit more punchy than OBD1s.

Yeah, in a bit of a pickle. 7j aint wide at all but the et makes em sit more like 8.5s and most dudes roll 195/205 rubber to stay in the arches. I just fancied a bit of ledge but no thinking the figures are in my favour. Might just go 205 instead, as much tread as I can get.

Because you're outnumbered with your crazy 'thinking about it' disease you seem to have. Face your fears, do it, sit back with a brew (1 sugar) and laugh to yourself about the day you almost thought too much about pissing money away on your car. Take her for a spin, get all the girls, get your photo in the paper and retire a millionaire. Ok, far fetched but you get the picture. ;-D

Hey bro, what wheel widths and offsets are you running with 215 rubber? I'm gonna be fitting 16x7s but with an et of 17, bit of poke, but wanna run 215/40 rubber for some ledge rather than stretch. Do your tyres rub?
-
Personal choice bro and depends on how you drive. I never thought I'd miss 16s, but with 17s you just can't drive as hard without having her look like shes on stilts. 16s, nice and low with plenty arch room still, stiff coilies and some nice hard driving. 17s look super good as they fill the arches but like I say, not that nice to drive. Also, don't over stretch your tyres, they look cool but drive worse, imo. more grip, more fun.

Right guys, here's one for ya. Got a sweet set of Audi S2 rims to put on the car pretty soon and am thinking of going anti-stretch, get some ledge going on, so am looking at 215 rubber. Now, the rims are 16x7 and when on the 20mm adaptors will sit at 17et. Question is, will 215/40/16 rubber fit under the arches at that et? Any help would be great.

Cheers chief. I'm an obd2 boy so was wondering if it was a waste of cash and by the sounds of it, probably is.

I had a little bid on the bay out fo interest, I lost out like but was wondering if getting hold of a ported/polished...etc TB makes much difference in throttle response. Or are they not really worth the hassle?

Can't remember actually, I'll have a look tonight but it was some industrial shit my dad used made by a company called Arrow. Super Solvent or something daft like that. This is recommended by the yanks: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EGH57G/qid=1149210337/sr=8-1/ref=sr_1_1?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=15684181

YEEHAAWW!! All sorted, took the maf off, gave it a good clean with some crazy dangerous electonic cleaner my dad had, stripped down the BMC and gave here a mild clean (need a cleaning kit to do it properly) and noticed that the wiring at the maf plug was all broken up so wasn't connecting properly. Bit of bodging and she runs better than ever!! Amazing how you go from hating them to being in love all over again.

I'm with binliner on the washing front, if I can be arsed of course. For me, I'll be: fixing the engine cold she has selling my monzas fitting the 16" Audi S2 rims winding the coilies down some more getting my hands on some smoked mk4 anni headlamps fitting new textured sill strips decat zorst to go on 141k and counting so chains may end up taking first spot though.
-
Cheers guys. I've had on a few ocassions air flow sensor faults on the vag.com over the past year so I'm gonna give the maf a clean with some electronic cleaning fluid, if that don't work then gget a new sensor altogether.
-
Ok, so I'm about to get a replacement MAF for my 96 vr and I'm told there are 2 different ones. Can anyone shed a bit of light on the matter please? Is the difference only obd1/2 or is it more complicated than that? Cheers guys.

Awesome's Diagnosis - Price Update!
franchise replied to ardandy's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
MAF for golf from GSF is £53. Not helpful i know, just trying to feel clever. -
The usual symptoms, lumpy power delivery, feels like the exhaust has been blocked, occasionaly stalls when trying to put power down from the lights but runs ok on the motorway, although a little drained. Have to feather in the throttle to get some revs up. Am I right in thinking my cat could be busted? As I've had a few stinky egg smells at the lights, or is my maf sensor on its way out? I've got a set of plugs and leads to fit this weekend and a full zorst with decat, should I get my hands on a maf too just to be safe?

OS front abs sensor help
franchise replied to franchise's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
No worries, found this elsewhere, might be useful to anyone else in need of help: http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=57396.0 -
I've tried a search but nothing came up that i could grasp, so, I just need a little bit of help with removing and replacing the front os abs sensor. Is this an easy job or are we talking about a royal pain in the anus? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

BIG fan of those hoops Don Cavinello. How you likin 6 pots?

First up, the lights, you split the glass from the backs and paint the non reflective parts of the inners. These are kinda textured/striped, paint em black and you get a nice set of cool lights (I'll post pics up after I've split and re-seled em). Wheels, I'll be taking the 17s off to be touched up in the new year then more than likely sell em, with the yoko tyres (but no adaptors). Interested fella? ;-D

How good is that!! Yeah, oil breathers, any use really? The diagram set up means the gases won't really affect the tb with that hose run. the originals spurt the shit pretty much straight into the tb, which makes it sticky i think. I cleaned my tb out about 8 months ago but is now in need another I think. They reckon they're good on high milers as they spit out more oily crap.

Over 139k on mine now and still goin strong. Some noise setting off in first but nothing that is a problem. maintenance is the key.

New lights in the mix. These should come tomorrow so the weekend will be dedicated to splitting and smoking these bad boys. Clean all the way....kinda.

Not sure yet, will push for one soon. What width are these bad boys? 7.5? Hows the scrubbin goin? -
Oh dear, well, I just can't help it. I get some money in and instead of being good I go and blow it on a little something for next season. What does everyone think? Personally, I nearly spermed in my pants, hence the knee jerk reaction. 7x16, 5x112 audi s2 rims. not the widest, but with the adaptors taking the et to 17, a cheeky bit of poke is gonna happen so they'll sit the same as my 7.5s. These won't take as long as the monzas to get ready but I aint using these through winter. Comments? Offers on the monzas
