Thanks for that. They look the bees knees! Did you do the conversion with the plate and existing calipers or the complete set up? -

Sorry to hijack the thread guys but are you both running the 312 conversion? If so any issues/problems I should be aware of as i'm planning on doing this to mine. Are you running standard or drilled discs? I've had a good look at the thread on the conversion but if you could add anything to this I'd be greatful. Kevin -
If you can't hear it on idle or at high revs when stationary then it could possibly be a wheel bearing. If the humming gets faster/louder with an increase in speed then that would point to the same thing. A bit hard to pin point which one if it is a wheel bearing. If there is a garage locally with 2 post lift, see if they'll let you get it on there and have a listen underneath. Kevin

It does sound like the thermostat housing is leaking. Probably cracked. If you want it confirmed I'm not too far away from Croydon. Let me know if you'd like me to take a look before you take it to a garage. Kevin (PM Sent)

H7 bulbs mate. What part of South London are you from? I may have seen you about -
Hi and welcome to the site. Sounds like the hydraulic lifters (tappetts). An engine oil flush followed by an oil and filter change may quieten things down a bit. Use a 10w40 semi synthetic oil. Members on here tend to go for Quantum Silver from VW Trade Part Service or GSF. Don't use a fully synthetic oil though as it will be too thin. VR's use a bit of oil too so make sure keep some for top up. Any plans for the car or are you going to keep it standard? Get signed up as a Premium member and post a few pics mate. Not many grey ones about. Kevin

No mate, pics were taken at the start of a cruise in London Docklands about a year ago. Sparkz had them taken while I was on holiday. About 4 or 5 very good magazine type shots in total. Does the background look similar to somewhere in Ipswich? -

Does anyone have a set of these fitted to their MK3? I have a couple of queries. One of the rings has stopped working so i'm assuming a bulb needs replacing. How easy is this to do and what bulbs are needed? If possible I would like to change the bulbs to a brighter whiter ones so the rings have more of a halo look as opposed to the slightly yellow hue they currently have. I'd also like to replace the lenses as they both now have stone chips in them. Any idea where I could get these from? Any advice would be greatly appreciated Kevin

[poll] Best tyres for my vr.
spindat45 replied to VR6MANN's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
i'm going with the Toyos. I've had PX4's on mine since I changed my wheels and I can't fault them in the wet and the dry. A company called Top Gear tyres on ebay were selling 4 tyres for £220 delivered earlier this year which is where I got mine from. My car is now charged and I've had no grip issues -
Sounds like the lay shaft bearing in your gearbox has wear. When you press the clutch pedal you are disconnecting the gearbox from the engine so nothing in the box is turning. With the pedal up the noise will be heard. It may be less noticable after a geabox oil change but unlikely to go away completely. Kevin

Just out of interest, does the bodyshop that sprayed your car have a low bake oven? I was under the impression that if the car is sprayed in an oven, the paint/lacquer is baked on?

steering is pulling? any ideas??
spindat45 replied to Dezmond_vr6's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
If you hit a kerb, pot hole or a rock hard enough it's more likely to put your tracking out than your camber. A bent track rod or damaged track rod end would be the likely culprits. If your camber is out and nothing appears to be bent then it probably wasn't re-set after the damage to the N/S/F was repaired by the previous owner. A sensible camber setting is Neg 1 degree or minus 1 degree. Some may disagree but that's what I set mine to when I did it a couple of years ago and it handles fine. I've had no uneven tyre wear either. My car is lowered slightly btw. Cars do tend to pull to th -

When you had your tracking done, did you also have the camber checked and adjusted at the same time? If you are running too much positive camber (top of the wheel sticking out and bottom in) that could be why the wheel looks as though its in at the bottom. If your tyre is wearing unevenly on the outer edge it could point to that also. Ask you brother if he noticed any setback when he tracked it. Thats when one wheel is slightly further back than the other, usually after an accident. Kevin -
I'm running the same charger as you Mark. I opted for NGK Audi S4 plugs as they are a colder plug than standard. I'v not had any problems with these and my standard leads so as they say if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'm sure somone will recommend a suitable set of leads though. I have it on good authority that a Shrick fitted along with one of these chargers, (once mapped of course) is a match made in heaven Kevin
-
Welcome to the site. I can't see why you would have any issues fitting these to your car. They are both direct replacements for the existing air box and inlet manifold. The induction Kit will bring a smile to your face every time you put your foot down. The Shrick will improve the smootheness and responsiveness of the car from 4000rpm upwards I believe. A re-map may also help to get the most out of it. I'm going to hazard a guess that the engine has covered 140,000 miles and not 1,400,000 miles . If its the latter then call the Guiness Book of Records Kevin
